I am saying this, knowing just how tough the JP ladies field is, and even more the field in general. This should not count too much for her consistency, tho, I think?

I will miss her FS this year, if she doesn't repeat it next year. Just like Waka's programs, I feel like we saw too little of Mai's this year.

Kaori finally made a mistake in her wonderful season... doesn't matter... she had a great season, there is usually a let down at the end.

 

Happy for Mai. Consistent with this free program.... and she finally won a title for the season. Good end to her season... and a few ranking points to help her out... and she added rippon arms at the end of her 3 jump combo... nice little flourish.

Also, that makes it even more of a blasphemy if ANY of the judges give less than +3 for that 2A. She also did Zu's usual 3Lz landing transition for that jump.

I love Kaori. I figured out why her miming doesn't bother me. It's because it's not crammed into the first few seconds and the last few seconds, and forgotten in the middle. It's part of the whole programme, and she sells it through every step and turn of it. Apparently I don't mind really consistently committed miming.

 

But Mai, she's my favourite. She deserves the win. She deserves much more than she gets.

Mai always deserves more than she gets...

I really dont know which one of these wonderful japanese ladies I like the most! Mai, Kaori, Satoko, Wakaba, they are all so talented and I love all of them! 

Kaori also doens't   over act when she mimes... big difference.

Yes, I don't expect her to suddenly materialise in a dungeon and an axe murderer to pop up behind her, for her to discover most dramatically when he misses his first swing.

 

That's what half the acting in figure skating reminds me of. Either horror movie or 'oh no my fiance just died and *gasp* my long-forgotten husband did it!'

 

ETA: And he was the butler all along! *swooon* Sorry.

This is where I feel bad that Mai had a poor start of the season... But then I also love Kaori... and poor Wakaba too...
