July 13, 20179 yr This is what happened with the men at JPN Nats in 2013 prior to Sochi #bloodbath. They had 3 spots though (Yuzu made sure of that) but it was still heartbreaking for Odaddy and Takahiko Kozuka. I can't imagine the pressure the ladies face with only 2 spots.
July 14, 20179 yr I think on some level, making it to the olympics at all is going to be more pressure than actually being at the olympics. This is actually not unheard of because our ladies US gymnastics team says they find the trials harder than the games itself.

For ladies this year it seems 1 spot is for the Nats Champ, and 2nd spot is more about who has done best during the season... right? The pressure is more spread out, but if you bomb Nats at least you are not totally out of it... which is good.

But this season long audition could be worse because instead of knowing you gotta show up for one competition, in your mind you know you gotta show up for EVERY competition.

They will be mulling over that one fall that could have made the difference between those places. Complete and total pressure cooker. And especially when they have to face each other in these events like whatever that GP is with THREE of them in the same one...
