Question, those who qualified their countries for the Olympics, they're not guarateed to go to the Olympics, right? Any idea why Junhwan wasn't the one to be sent to Nebelhorn? Also, where was the 10-extra-points-for-the-face guy from Italy?

 

And, ouch, MCM won't go to the Olympics? I got attached to him.

Korean Fed had a national competition take place as the 1st qualifier to the Olympics back in August (?). The winner of that competition would go to Nebelhorn. Jun Hwan had boot troubles and was injured in that first competition and lost to June Hyoung, who then went on to represent Korea at Nebelhorn to get a direct spot. As for who will get to go to the Olympics in the end? It'll depend on the sum of points of all the qualifier competitions they consider in their criteria (domestic, nationals, international, GP).

Woohoo!!  congrats to all the qualifiers! So proud of June Hyoung Lee for grabbing a spot without needing to let Korea resort to using a host spot. And congrats to Jorik for winning! Shame about MCM, he was so close, yet he wasn't. Good luck to the ladies, especially Isadora, who was also her country's first qualifier for the Sochi Olympics and is vying to do it again! And Alexia, for her clutch move of last minute switching to Switzerland and now only a free skate away from being at the Olympics! And Kailani for being in the lead! Aussie girls have been doing well this year!

Aussie Nats for the ladies are going to be really, really competitive. That's going to be a big battle there. Huh, good on them!

 

I do wonder what S. Koreans will do. If Cha recovers, do they end up sending him or the guy who earned the spot? Technically it's the country's, not his, but there have always been issues about that. 

Whoa!! What a morning to wake up to. So sad for MCMHe's the lone possible representative my country has and him without qualifying.. . But it's ok with Yuzu and Julian (he kinda grew on me I really wanna see his FS again) my heart is at peace. Congratulations to the people who earned a spot for the Olympics!!

Junhwan wasn't sent to Nebelhorn because at the event in Mokdong he came 3rd but I think the qualifying thing in the summer was stage one for the Korean men & ladies. Performance through other events & Nationals will decide who will go to Pyeongchang so Junhwan still has a chance if his boot issues/injury issues are sorted out (though I'd be real sad for June-Hyoung and Jinseo but that's life I guess)

Australian skaters are having a good early season and I'm happy for them.

Happy for Julian as well... he is such a performer.

Really sad seeing Sumire and Francis like that (Japan, please give Francis citizenship..)

With June Hyoung being qualified thru Nebelhorn, does this mean S.Korea can qualify for the team event?

They need 3 disciplines for the Team Event through direct qualification and not host spots, I believe. So they'd need Ice Dance too, since Pairs missed out. I'm not quite sure, though.
