That would be terrifying for him (not for us tho)  I still remember watching the fancam on YouTube, when he comes out after he knows he won the OGM. The cameraman following him everywhere! The horror! :smiley-scared008:

You're right. The horror also for us: our life would be just Yuzu. Not drawing, not reading, not music, not chatting, just YUZURING.:slinkaway:

Imagine you're in Akiko's place.... :dpooh:

I don't think I would survive if yuzu touching my hand and staring at me like that......

Okay, I didn't have as much time as I thought I've have this afternoon, but here's a quick translate of the interview.

I did spell check - and actually asked @KatjaThera to check as well - but if there are still typos left, please kindly ignore them.

If you have question caused by Yuzu's never ending sentences, just ask, I might be able to unravel them to more easily understood English with more time to think. ;)

Anyhow, here it is:

Announcer: Please welcome Yuzuru Hanyu.

Hanyu-san, you're back in Kobe again after missing last year - we've been waiting for you! (bows)

Yuzuru Hanyu: Thank you very much. (bows back)

A: How was it?

Y: I really had fun. I'm not sure how to say it best. (Everybody) was so warmly welcoming.

A: How were the Kansai spectators? (1)

Y: I think it really went well/they were really great. There were probably also spectators who came for the first time (to such a show) so applause and such wasn't really matching/syncronized (2) but I really think everybody got together into the same mood and had fun.

A: If I had to describe you with just one thing, I'd have to say you are really good to get everybody really excited. Like in the encore, this... this... (imitates his double handed kiss blowing motions two, three times)

Y: (gets embarrassed or plays shy and hides his face behind his hand)

Y: But... I really wonder if it made them happy... (3)

A: The main song was, after two years again, Chopin. Does that song have a special meaning for you?

Y: It's a program that has a special meaning to me, on top of that I'm just right now doing my best to make it even more special and it's THIS program, THIS song, that I hope/wish that (implied, having already worked on it a lot) by continuing to work on it and developing it, I can make into a program that would please (people), that the song itself would be pleased with. (4)

A: Last year, you set a new record by breaking your own record. What kind of feeling is that, to outdo yourself?

Y: Ahhh... how can I explain that... it was harder than outdoing someone else. Of course there was the delight of getting even higher points, but more than anything else it's that I managed to take the composition to an even higher level than that time (before) gave me the biggest sense of achievement. A sense of achievement I can't really explain. A sense of achievement that made me feel like, I finally got there! That feeling was very strong.

A: That's interesting. So it was a really big achievement.

Y: Yes, in particular as I didn't manage to improve my short program last season. Not only that I did not not improve it, but didn't even create (perform) it cleanly, in competition. So in that sense I really want to polish it (as much as I can) this season, concentrate on making it more powerful. (5)

A: May I ask you for a message to your Kansai fans?

Y: Of course. Thank you to everybody who has been watching and supporting me. There is still a lot of time until the Olympics and surely there are a lot of things to do, but please really look forward to it. If people would feel "that was good" after watching... with everybody watching and supporting me, if then after I watch my own performance I'd be able to feel a sense of achievement... that's something I really want to achieve for myself and together with everybody, I want to achieve a result that'll make everybody happy, so please keep supporting me. And please, enjoy figure skating even more. As always, thank you very much!

A: Thank you very much.

Y: Thank you very much.

(1) I thought that was a bit of a silly question, since ticket sales for the event weren't limited to kansai. But I guess since ABC is a Kansai station, she

had to ask something like that. :P

(2) Is it ever? Such a... Yuzu moment. LOL

(3) You do WONDER about that? REALLY???

(4/5) I know this is very inelegant English, but as I thought everybody would like to read it sooner rather than later, I decided not to spend any time on polishing it.

:rofl:i was laughing a lot too when he said that. No Yuzu, it was terrible, no one liked your sweaty kisses./s

And thank you for the translation! Now everyone can see why I was:sadPooh:at the message for "Kansai" fans (and I confirm that yes, it didn't seem exclusive to Kansai fans lmao)

Well, it's Yuzu, He's the world's best skater, double world champion, Olympic gold medalist etc etc etc - and a total DORK sometimes. I just love it. He really wouldn't be as special as he is he were all super polished all the time.

As for the message, yes, it wasn't particularly for Kansai only. But who cares. :P

Interview translations from the ABC Kobe broadcast can be found here. Click on the post's title to be taken to a google drive with translations for Nobu/Yuzuru/Akiko/Marin and the others.

Not sure if this has already been posted. It shows Yuzu's full cartwheel/roundoff. Since we complained about that for days, here's a clear version of it.
