  1. I simply ignore official statements on height in particular, because in several decades of working in a job in which I frequently get shanghai'd as impromptu interpreter for all kinds of people, Japanese and overseas, who's height is a matter of public record, I find the records at odds with personal experience. As in, I know how tall I am and of course I can tell how much taller someone standing by my side is...
  2. Okay, a bit of other Yuzu news - though from earlier this year, I`m not precisely sure when as it's not dated - that came via a link from a friend, Icerink Sendai put a statement on their website thanking him for his donations of the royalties from Aoi Honoo and Aoi Honoo II, to a total amount of 25,312,775 Yen (approx. 225,285$ or 194,910€ by today's exchange rates). For me that's amazing amount of money earned from books that never were mass market. Of course Yuzu also is amazing for doing that in the first place.
  3. Thank you, you are amazing. And tiff is actually better quality, but just now, I'm temporarily away from home, but of course want the poster ASAP, so I have to find a print shop in a city I am not familiar with. Theoretically I am all in favour of the virtue of 我慢 - something like patience - but there are times when patience has to take a backseat, too.
  4. Just sent me all your pics of Yuzu wearing anything Japanese and I shall happily provide the proper naming info!
  5. Thank you all for the information, and @Lunna for the scan! (Now I have to find a print shop that can handle .tiff)
  6. Please pardon the correction, but it's a kimono, not a hakama - hakama is leg wear. (Though I wouldn't mind a picture of him only in hakama, either.)
  7. Because it suits his personality and his inclinations? Since in many ways he's really very traditionally Japanese.
  8. I quite like it... And I guess you don't know where it is from, either, then?
  9. I just came across this online, where it sadly wasn't attributed. I already asked a friend who probably has seen 99% of all Yuzu pics existing, but she couldn't recall having seen it, either. So as I don't have time for research just now, the question here: does anyone know where this is from? I guess I am hoping this is something new, because... well, just because.
  10. Thank you very much! Ichiro of course was to be expected, but it's really amazing that Yuzu follows immediately after, given that even if relatively popular, even in Japan it's still a minor sport.
  11. That song gives me paranoia... (I've heard it played way too often as BGM etc) ^^; Please don't apologise, talking/writing in a foreign language one always makes mistakes at first. And thank you always for your interesting links, I never have the time to go look for myself. Would it be too much to ask to please add links to the sources?
  12. Please pardon the correction - - but I think what you might want to say is "a very respected person" in English. Which of course is true. (Not that he isn't respectable as well, come to think of it.)
  13. Belated thought: whether he was actually singing or just lip synching I think it was the original German, since Yuzu told one of the musicians at FaOI this year - sorry, I forgot who, even though I translated the artist's comment myself ^^; - that he remembers at lyrics of all songs used in the shows. Now I want to hear him sing or say it, to find out what is accent is for German!
  14. There are a few like this, Bolero is one, Ode to Joy another and of course Auld Long Syne. Bolero I think is objectively speaking way overused in figure skating as well, but from my own subjective point of view, I actually wouldn't mind a competition in which every single skater or pair would skate to that and watch their different interpretations. Just because.
  15. Reminds me a bit of my own dream (posted over in random thought theater)...
  16. Fictional auction, I just said, they should do this ^^; And too bad I wouldn't be that auntie. Though I guess I'd dislike it more if it'd be some young - not now - Paris Hilton style rich bitch who'd think she was entitled to mose.
  17. There are so many incredible moments in this, but I particularly like this from Yuzu, on competition: "I'm doing it because it's difficult, if it were easy, I'd had quit long ago already."
  18. Awww, don't cry... *gives Hydro a sadly non-Yuzu sweat stained hankie* It's not as if that would happen... though I do maintain it would raise an insane amount of money for charity. As for meeting him, though not while competing, some TV station should give him an educational "visiting every country on earth" show - or, to stay on topic - "I'll give a skating lesson in every country of the world show."
  19. Start a special savings account to provide for Yuzuru Hanyu purchases? Now I had this idea what - of course after getting his okay - 24 Jikan Terebi charity program should do to raise a huge amount of money: auction of a Yuzu kiss on the cheek! And maybe also previous 24 Jikan Terebi Inohara, "this has Yuzuru Hanyu sweat, I won't ever wash this!" handkerchief. Assuming Inochin would care to donate it, which he might not. (I wouldn't, if I were him.)
  20. You can always run your interpretations by me, if you like. I'm not a hard core specialist, but as popular as that stuff is, I should know the general things. (If we encounter really difficult stuff, he could try to somehow get Kikuchi's cell number. )
  21. Confused what about? And properties of power stones are universal, so descriptions should be the same. But if you can wait for the weekend, I could probably get info what a good English site would be.
  22. Also remember, in Japanese things supposed to be understood are rarely said, so just saying "試験" your supposed to interfere the rest. Since you did, you passed Japanese Socialisation 202. Actually, re translation, those are standard power stones, I'm sure they are explained on English or Spanish speaking sites about those.
  23. It's just "test," i.e., will help you to pass tests, of the simple factual university entrance exam style as well as "tests of life." Remember, it's about enlightenment = gaining (spiritual, primarily but other as well) knowledge and studying for and passing tests adds to your knowledge. For the rest, could you post a link to the source? Preferably not picture.
  24. Fits a certain person's character, wouldn't you say?
