Well the chinese post didn't say he fell, just that it wasn't stable. As for the 3A, the 3A probably just threw its hands up and told Hanyu that if he wants it to function as normal during working season, it needs a break in the off season to avoid burnout...the lutz and loop are the workhorses/workaholics of the jump office.

My point is that he fell even on his favourite jump before and just unstable landing on quad at some show during off-season is not something that anybody should be worried about 

And also show rinks are smaller than normal, has special lighting - it's harder to jump in such conditions.
