I think this gives him the confidence to continue pursuing "Yuzuru Hanyu's skating" even he receives no "reward" from the FS establishment. He didn't say "please continue to support me next season" this time and this makes me a little worried. But as he said, the platform doesn't matter. I believe he is figure skating and figure skating is him. Competitions or shows, I'm so glad I followed someone who will never betray the essence of figure skating.

After the show I watched his "arigatou gozaimashita" from previous years and he didn't say it always, so it doesn't have to mean anything. It is just interesting that he had the opportunity and didn't use it. Similarly, in previous years he has talked about the next season in the interviews done on tour and now nobody has asked him anything about it. He has talked about 4A which is a strong indication towards competitions but maybe still healing injury holds him back from saying anything further. And maybe I am just overanalyzing everything and making the things more complicated than they really are. When he talked about continuing 4A, he use the word “I can still work on it” and “I want to jump in front of everyone”, not “in competition”. And there has been rumors that interviewers are asked not to ask about next season. Just everything combined makes me feel a little uncertain. Maybe I’m just overthinking.
June 27, 20224 yr Since his ankle is still healing, maybe he wants to wait until the last moment before making any announcements. Though we'll be hearing about the GP assignments in a few days anyway I've said this before, but I don't think missing the GP would necessarily mean he's considering retiring, either. (Nats and championships will be held in Japan, closer to home with stricter covid restrictions). I am starting to get nervous though...
