If not, I'm not sure why you're telling me what Chinese people think and feel, considering I am Chinese and lurk Chinese figure skating forums. I think it's naive to say that people being huge fans of Yuzuru has nothing to do with them not liking NC. Isn't part of the reason we don't like NC because of his unfairly inflated scores and the obstacle they represent to Yuzu? If I weren't a fan of Yuzu, I would hardly care about NC enough to bother complaining about him. I probably wouldn't even know who he was, since Yuzu got me into figure skating in the first place. To answer your question, yes, I am Chinese. It was a few years that NC is not so popular, mainly because his improper speech in his interview. You're right that in this Olympic, NC was over-scored. Most of the people don't feel pleasant watching NC's show and can't understand how his show can break the world record. However, Yuzu is not the reason we don't like NC. I'd rather treat it as two kinds of FS: NC treats FS as competition and Hanyu treats it as art&dream. They're two kinds of people treating FS differently. Undoubtedly, they are both excellent athletes. Even NC doesn't exist, we would still like Yuzu, and on the contrary, even without Yuzu, we wouldn't like NC neither. It's like you like cherry but not kiwi, you won't say you hate kiwi because you love cherry too much. It's stupid and useless to make a conflict between NC and Yuzu.
February 13, 20224 yr Now if this ain't the truth. And if people dislike Nate and don't talk about him, it has to be because of political reasons and not because he's... unimpressive.
February 13, 20224 yr I don’t dislike him - I dislike the circus around him, deplore the hyperbole they employ and find it difficult to be anything but underwhelmed by his work. It isn’t personal as in against him as an individual, but it is a matter of personal taste as to who to watch and read about.
February 13, 20224 yr It's a pity that media and fans attack one for the other. We all see that Yuzu is such a kind dream seeking boy. His dream is 4A since he was a kid and he's pursuing it. He of course knows that if he failed doing the 4A he might not even gain a medal. And yet, he choose his dream. On this point, he is more than a gold medal winner. And I believe under the stage, they both treat each other as a respectable opponent and a great athlete. They both know, even they don't have each other as opponent, there's still someone else... In the interviews I watched, they both spoke highly about each other. They probably are friendly to each other under the stage. I do not like the crazy media, in order to attract people's attention, they use whatever they can. Rising people's hatred against the other great skater. No matter what those mean people do, they are both Olympic winner while those media and nobody aren't. And I believe Yuzu wouldn't want his fans hate NC neither.
February 13, 20224 yr CAS concludes hearing on Valieva, decision expected on Monday Reuters Quote "The hearing was concluded, it was a long hearing. Now the panel will deliberate until tomorrow morning, the end of the morning," CAS Secretary General Matthieu Reeb told reporters. "We hope to be able to announce a final decision tomorrow at around one, two or three pm tomorrow afternoon and there should be an announcement which should be either by press release on the website or a public announcement also tomorrow. "We need to organise that and we still have some work to do... I cannot comment on anything at the hearing but I hope to give you a decision ... in a few hours." When asked if Valieva gave evidence, Reeb said he could not answer the question.

February 13, 20224 yr Eteri Tutberidze: “It’s such a pity that this whole situation came to light here, at the Olympics, as I understand it, in order to get more resonance, but we can handle it.” English translation by FS Gossips Quote Eteri Tutberidze: She feels supported, we are absolutely with her. Looking ahead, I think, while there will be a trial, what to do with Kamila. Nobody is going to leave her. She finds strength in herself because she knows she is pure. She has no guilt. It’s hard to beat her on the ice. She has been at the highest level for three years. She was in the lead in all the competitions she took part in. She is the leader of our team, she is the face of our team, that’s why it’s such a well-aimed hit. No doping will help an athlete learn quadruple jumps, will not give plasticity and the ability to express musical pices. For me, she brings beauty into our lives, in her performance it is not a sport, but an art. I hope, just as competently as it was planned, just as competently, we will be able to investigate all this and issue a fair verdict. For me, a team medal is a medal of the country, and it is obvious that our country, since it shows the development of four disciplines of figure skating, our country is stronger than the rest in four disciplines. And if not Kamila, but another girl, or a third one, or both, the result would have been the same. Therefore, it’s such a pity that this whole situation came to to light here, at the Olympics, as I understand it, in order to make it sound louder, get more resonance, but we can handle it.

Interesting - so what are your thoughts (if you don't mind me asking?) I'm a bit conflicted about this, being a former athlete myself (and trained under a Russian-trained coach, like, a version of Raf). I think in any doping case, the coaching team is 100% at fault, and should absolutely be investigated thoroughly and that coach should possibly be banned for LIFE. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen enough, and probably won't change any time soon. I used to follow the whole Russian drama, and had hope that it would result in this systematic ban for coaching teams *from any country, in any discipline* with doped athletes, but instead we got this stupid ROC thing. As a pro athlete, your coaches are like your parents plus grandparents. You believe them unconditionally for so many years since childhood, it would be extremely unlikely for you to go against them (eg: take drugs yourself without consultation with them, or, reject taking "supplements" or weird training routines (read: physical abuse) if they say it's good/necessary for you, even when you're raising eyebrows at it). A few greats do go against their coaches advice, but that's usually *after* they have achieved greatness, and by definition, that means the very few. The athletes are definitely victims, and this applies to athletes of all age. But, is it fair to the athlete to get banned? imho, it is *necessary*, regardless of their age. I think they should not compete, until they are clean. Coming second, and then later get gold because the champion was found cheating, is psychologically *not* the same as coming first, period. Nobody wants to get a medal with an asterisk of any sort.

Nobody wants to get a medal with an asterisk of any sort. There are a lot of variants to consider. Depending on the substance, it sometimes does happen that a daily household item was contaminated which resulted in the athlete testing positive - it wouldn’t be the first time. In this case I would be fine with the athlete not being suspended. It’s possible that the substance Kamila tested positive for contaminated something “harmless” that she was given although I’m not a pharmaceutical expert and I have no clue how high the probability of this happening is. I’d guess next to none because from what I understand, trimetazidine should be nowhere near a teenager as its banned for paediatric medicine and I guess if this could happen then both medications are produced by the same pharma. Then we have the possibility of her team slipping it into her usual cocktail without her knowing but just like the law states: just because you didn’t know, doesn’t mean you are exempt from it, right? And then the option is that Kamila willingly took it either encouraged by her team or by her own decision after coming into contact with that medication somehow someway. I agree to a certain extent with what you say in the sense that an athlete’s coaching team pretty much controls an athlete’s life but they are still people who make decisions of their own. Take Lance Armstrong for example who allegedly even pressured fellow cyclists to take performance enhancing drugs. I doubt any doping situation, unless absolutely clear, can be taken as a black or white case. What I definitely would like to know is: why now? Why not back in December when the test was positive? Who made the decision to hide it? Was it kept hidden? If so, were there accomplices? Eteri sounds like they had no clue that the test back then was positive. I thought results, positive or not, were immediately informed to the athletes?

Her confidence makes me think she’s betting on Kamila not being excluded from the individual events. And if she’s excluded I’m waiting for Eteri to turn against Kamila and turn it into a betrayal story (bc everything is about herself)
