Wow, it must be so difficult, studying both at once! I've been learning for 1,5 months, but there still remain about 9 hiragana signs on my 'to do' list, and I know only like 10 katakana signs and about 10 kanji! I can't imagine learning Chinese simultaneously, and having to remember the kanji from the start. :dbana: Perhaps we should create a study buddy thread here for these languages. ^ ^

Right now I'm only studying Japanese by myself (since January, although I did learn Hiragana and Katakana before, during my earlier attemps at learning the basics), but yeah, here in Italy, usually you study two languages at once if you study with a university course. At least, here in Rome it works like this!

And don't worry about katakana, I too have some signs that I always have to look up simply because I haven't 'automatisized' them yet.

I am all for creating a study buddy thread! I have no one to correct my mistakes, and I am desperately searching for japanese people to talk to... but sometimes I get too embarassed and chicken out xD

I put on a yukata today and got to wear it for more than an hour while practicing a dance and I don't know how I managed not to cry. It felt so right it was hard for me to take it off even if it was extremely hot 💔

I get to wear it tomorrow too, but still 💔 I waited 16 years for this, and if you had asked me last year before August of I thought I would ever wear one, the answer would have been no.

Black with Sakura branches and flowers. The obi is fucsia with small white sakura flowers :sadPooh:

It is a little short because it's borrowed but aaah I don't really care

Lovely! Time to get a custom-made one, then!

I was actually thinking of buying one, but...

That money is reserved for seeing Yuzu 💖

You get your priorities right, I see... :devilYuzuf:

I am studying by myself, too, and also lack someone to talk to, whether it's a fellow student or a native speaker. I'm thinking of a thread, here in Space Junk, that could be a channel for anything we who learn Japanese could say or ask, from introducing ourselves and stating our level (I don't even know who else on this site learns the language, except for you and Hydro!) to language questions that hopefully would get noticed and answered by someone more advanced than us. How does that sound? Something like 'Get to know your fellow students' or 'Learners of Japanese unite' or something snappier; I don't have any idea at the moment. %) You?

Oh, I sympathise with you re. being embarrassed - now that I actually started learning the language, I feel embarrassed for choosing this silly username at all. It feels so lame suddenly in the light of my struggles to piece together a basic sentence. :slinkaway: I wonder if username changes are allowed on PH.

I love surimi tho :drool1:

We could call it "Japanese group study". I know that Hydro is definitely more advanced than me, and I know for sure there is one other person learning japanese that would like to keep practicing, but I don't remember their nick. So, I think we have many different levels and we could help each other out.

I wonder if it isn't a too big of a thread tho? But I guess there's space for everything in Space Junk, right?

Maybe we can ask @Hydroblade her opinion, since she's admin ^^

Sounds good to me! The more, the merrier!

OMG, the comment about a thread too big brought back a very unpleasant memory... I def hope Junk is big enough to house it. :confused0036:
