That's kind of weird... Brian's part on re-using the programs seems a bit at odds with the part that was shown on all TV media. On TV, it was more like: there will be criticism, but we're confident. This is more like: We're not so sure, but he wants it and if we manage to get it just right, maybe... The confidence in every other piece seems absent here. I find that weird... Maybe it just got lost in translation, while focusing on the direct message, since it's pretty subtle.

if Yuzu wants it, then i support him:tumblr_inline_mm2wb3v3qq1qz4rgp: he's the one skating, practicing, and competing, and watching him skate the way he wants is all i can ever ask for :tumblr_m9gcraReGL1qzckow:

Oh, I fully agree with that. I just meant that in this new piece Brian sounds more reluctant and like "I'll accept it because he wants it, but I'm not sure it's such a good idea", while in the other bits it sounded like he was fully on board and agreeing with Yuzu that it's the best music they've saved for - re-use at - the Olympics. We all also know that at the end of the day, Brian can't really win when Yuzu sets his mind on something :P But my impression from the videos was that Brian fully agrees with the decision and in this new piece it seems like maybe not. (Or maybe that's Nikkei spinning it their way? Like "See? Not even his coach thinks it's a good idea." or so >_>)

From the reaction on Twitter, either some fans are very overly sensitive or Nikkei was (sigh,I swore I'd never use this ridiculous phrase) "throwing shade."

(God forgive me. :headdesk:)

I think someone was also complaining that they didn't give any crap to Shoma for recycling what was already a warhorse to begin with, though I was reading all that through a migraine so don't take my word for it.

Yeah, that part gives me pause a little. I hope it's a mistranslation or someone trying to put words in mouths :/ but seeing reaffirmation that this is what Yuzu really wants is all I need to support the decision:text-line-smiley-023:

I'm coming around to using Seimei again (it is great, and best of all, a truly creative program), slightly worried as always about the layout. While I didn't quite dare to believe that he was going to add a 4Lz the single 3A worries me a little...

Also feels it should be kept in mind when counting quads amongst the competitors that, at least as far as I know, Uno, Chen and Jim are all doing two 3As. So Yuzuru is basically a 3A behind Uno and one quad + one 3A behind Chen and Jin. Since Uno is starting to get similar PCS and GOEs as Yuzuru it all worries me a bit. Chen and Jin both seem quite consistent with their jumps (though with easier layouts PCS-skill wise), but during Olympics PCS do seem to come a bit more easily (if clean especially). Jin does seem in clips to have improved his skating skills quite a bit though. Good for him, but Yuzuru's consistency plan worries me, since his mistakes seems less to do with difficulty and more with his mentality (focusing too hard on being prefect) - of course though a new jump would make it harder mentally as well.

While the 4T-3T (rippon) looked great :agree: I don't think it would suit Chopin very well

I really wonder what the state of Yuzuru's 4Lz is... Was it Max that said 60% awhile ago? I don't think that was in a layout though, so it could perhaps be very low when in a layout and one of the reasons why he is not thinking of putting it in. In some of his comments it sounds like he is not considering it at all and in other, like the one below, it seems more plausible (don't remember the source of the quote sorry!)

Quote

“I’m able to jump 4Lz and practice is going fairly well, but I’m not considering it for now. First settling everything nicely with the current layout, attacking each element properly and completing it is what I want to do.”

Could the situation be that he is going the clean consistency route through the GP series and if that doesn't work he will train the 4Lz like crazy for Olympics? Can I ask what you guys think - isn't it risky going the clean consistency route since it may(?) result in peaking waaay too early? Kinda feels like the injury last year and late start almost helped Yuzuru peak at the right time. He has peaked quite often at GPF hasn't he? Though it is hard to say given his injuries 14-15 and 15-16... Sorry now I'm just babbling

I agree about Chopin. I'm a bit sad thinking about it. TT_TT

I don't want to speculate on how dangerous the layout choices and clean strategy are until we see what he really has planned but at this point I don't even care if he wins. I know the performance he'll give us will go down in history as something amazing regardless of his place on the podium and that's more important to me (not that my opinion means anything to anyone fighting for Olympic glory. :P)

Really, though, who's going to remember another Winter or Turandot? (Sorry Shoma, I think you're fantastic and I can't wait to see your finished programs but there's a for really real fairytale unfolding here!)

Don't forget that Japanese media are translating BOs comments and then people are translating back again. English speakers can just go to the original recordings and make their own minds up about what he's saying - like @Geo1 said pages ago- lost in translation.
