Came across Edea's profile on Yuzuru and wow!

Yuzuru is a complete skater:
• His jumps are the first thing you notice watching him skate. They are enormous yet precise and despite the extraordinarily length and height he lands them with a light and delicate touch, often with an exit speed that is greater than his take-off speed.
• His spins are fast and thanks to his great flexibility, look almost impossible to execute. One of his trademarks is the Biellmann spin.
• His steps and fluidity, his amazing ability to glide apparently effortlessly across the ice, gaining speed very quickly means the entire rink can be covered with few steps.

But Yuzuru isn’t just about technique; above all it is his ability to interpret, to give emotion through his performance, which leaves the audience transfixed. When skating he bares his soul, abandoning himself to the performance, connecting with his audience and leaving them breathless. It feels like he’s not just skating to the music but creating the music. Indeed, during his performance, as his blades glide gracefully across the ice, Yuzuru is the music.

Don't do it, @katonice! She doesn't even know mine, just Pumpkin Kingliness, and she's still dangerous enough that I've nearly walked into walls, holes, and people from laughing at epic pumpkinage (maybe I shouldn't look at my phone while I'm walking but whatever, it's 2005!)

Lol, I consider myself warned. But really, I don't know what specifically would kill me. It could be anything and everything about Yuzu that could render me a useless member of society (i.e., unable to focus on anything in normal life) anytime

That almost seems like something a poster here might write.  Go Edea Marketing Fanyu!

That's really incredible. O_O That perfectly expresses everything that makes him so remarkable. Well done, Edea.

Sorry to interrupt... well, not sure what I'm interrupting :embSwan:

But wanted to bring an update to my claims yesterday. Aside from the first question in class today being "Did you see Hanyu?" and several others, I did give my Japanese teacher a swan - she picked one of those that reminded me of Hana ni Nare - and an omamori from Seimei Jinja and she was very happy with both. She did ask why swans and she also asked me if people cried there... I told her about Yuzuruha Jinja as well as she didn't know about it, and she said she wanted to go to Seimei last Summer when she was in Japan, but in the end didn't, but she is going back now for the end of the year, and is planning to go :)

Bottom line: another swan has found a loving home :)

(I plan to give three more to friends, too)

And back on topic, that EDEA text is so awesome...

I wonder if we'll get more costume upgrades when he comes back.

His space Kitty round off would have been Surya Bonaly'ed, tho... His designer assistant (xD) said there were adjustments planned to do inbetween CoR and NHK, so they definitely will be new..plus, imagine, our overlord had TEN DAYS to think off of the possible ways to make his costume EVEN MORE SHINY (and meaningful)

I feel like I'm a child again but instead of anxiously counting down the days until Father Christmas visits I'm waiting for Fred and Abe to come down the chimney.

It always takes me a second when people call Chopin a Fred, beause our shotr name of Frederick is a bit different  Anyway, thank you for a mental image of a romantic composer and 11-century Japanese astronomer pushing each other down the dirty chimney :xD:

Most elegant dork ever to skate the earth.

I’m doing exposure therapy everyday to get over the trauma and I’ve been cycling through old practice videos. I recommend this video to remember just how much cooler LGC was in black:

This dork is a monster...and Extra. I mean, go over almost whole SP clean (btw, did I spy the near collision with Adam during stseq? Granted, it's so easy to get in his way with the speed he covers the ice and their reflexes are insane O.o), then take a break on the final spin, BUT make part of the revolutions, just to confirm final pose? Wuuut xD

Watching other men mess up in the GP series, I miss Yuzu's 3A the most. Steady, reliable and always effortlessly elegant.

We need a collection of just Yuzu's good 3As. Considering his stats on it's successful landing, I guess it would be more like collection of Yuzuru's 3As in general.

Can I just drop by and say that it's one hell of a wise marketing Fanyu? ALL of the arguments he uses are the arguments that were said about Yuzuru before on a National-wide stations, so if he's accused of favorism or anything, he can point people to the commentaries and say: 'It's not me, it's them!'

fellow satellites, i know i'm very late to the conversation, but did we ever figure out what yuzu is studying?

i looked up wiki and apparently human informatics is the study of the relationship between human culture and technology and may include stuff like game design principles and human/digital interactions?

and then cognitive science is apparently the study of the mind and its processes - a combination of linguistics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, philosophy, anthropology, and psychology?

sounds like very broad fields...???

It sounds basically like what he would be interested in xD

The broadness means that he actually has similar type of study to mine, although mine is purely humanistic xD That translate as: get a lot of knowledge about anything, by yourself get the knowledge of anything about something

Knowing Yuzuru, though (okay, not really knowing him xD), he's probably acing on all the subjects, and have fun by finding connections of the topics of his lectures to skating/gaming.

A variety of information arises in the relationships between people, and the relationships between people and things. We carry out scientific analysis of the processes through which information arises and pursue design that will create rich sources of information.

The Department of Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences does not tackle only computer science. Anything that moves through the interfaces between people and people, and people and things, is deemed to be “information”. The Department of Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences teaches everything from how to analyze the processes that lead to the creation of this information, through to scientific understanding of how to design systems to create this information. Information is approached from a variety of different perspectives, such as methods for communicating information between people, equipment used as the media for communicating information, and the psychological changes that occur in information. This is then used at the basis for pursuing research.

The Department of Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences is made up of the following five different research areas: Informatics, Cognitive Science, Ergonomics, Education Technology and Communication. In each field, instruction is provided using cutting edge equipment by teachers with practical experience of education and research in the relationships between people and information. The Department also offers many unique educational and research opportunities using a new approach as a human sciences department that combines the three academic fields of engineering, humanities and social science. Students acquire knowledge and skills that will be of use to them in the real world, and they are provided with an attractive environment that allows them to take on challenges in a variety of research themes that anticipate the needs of modern society.
