>> They should give someone else the GP instead of France.

Shoma has a pretty good handle on pressure but we'll see how he copes with a major international event in his hometown with no yuzu there making him the primary/only japanese rep. He didn't take that kind of pressure well at Nationals (i love this fluffy boy though so I hope he's okay. I dont want him to bomb) I think Shoma absolutely has a very good chance of beating Nathan. We'll see how they do in their 2nd GP events but so far Shoma is leading the pack in points. However... SP opens with 4F which isn't exactly Shoma's strongest jump. Yuzu got 112 by damn near maxing out his TES and getting 48 in PCS. So far neither Shoma or Nathan are anywhere close to maxing out their max TES (or going over 60 tho Shoma hit 59 at Lombardia...so i guess hitting 60+ TES is possible with his score as inflated as it was at Lombardia but 64? no way) and Shoma getting PCS that high would be a stretch. Same goes for Nathan. And same kinda applies for the FS. Shoma's program this season is not good enough to earn above 223. Nathan's program is good but i don't think there's enough going on for him to get the kind of pcs he'd need to break the WR. They would both need to come with 10 pts of their max TES to get above 223 with their current average PCS and frankly them getting +2/+3 on every element as of right now is a fairytale. They might break 110/219 but not 112/223

10 days rest and 3-4 weeks rehab sounds good. That should give him a week or so of regular training before nationals, right? >> I don't think so. I'd be very surprised if Nathan or Shoma got over 112 in the SP/223 in the FS. And if they do their protocols will be absolutely baffling to look at.

I am tickled at the mental image of his watching the skating while aggressively eating All The Protein and periodically glaring at his ankle.

Patrick came 4th and got 9 points towards qualification. If he came in 1st here he would have gotten 24 points which is way more likely to earn qualification than the 20 Javier can get maximum. But....what's done is done. I hope it works out for him but it does seem a shame.

4CC is in January...but it ends less than 2 weeks before the team event starts. But is in a very similar time zone? If he did that whoever got the free tickets will have basically won the lottery hahaha

I hope Yuzuru says in Sendai for a while to heal ;; I imagine, even if his knee wasn't the main problem, sitting on an aeroplane for however many hours won't be good for it. Since other people were posting emo songs that make them think of Yuzuru...This one always makes me think of Yuzu so much but it's not emo! It's upbeat and hopeful! haha Also I think the banner project is a really nice idea. Even if he can't get a chance to read all the messages it would be really lovely for him to see how much support he has around the world. Reminds me a bit of when a fansite I was involved in did global letter/artwork projects so fans from other countries that would likely never get a chance to see the idol in person could make their existence known XD It was well received by the idol. I'm glad thise P&G videos came out. I think we all needed Yuzu's dorky laugh and him twirling with airfreshener.

I seriously doubt it's anything more than that. Neither his knee or his ankle was excessively awkwardly twisted on the ice when he fell, I maintain what I said earlier about his doing a good job of adjusting his fall to minimise the damage. He's supposedly in the hospital now? I'm guessing they will be scanning the leg to see the full extent of the damage.

Not a doctor but ligaments are the things attaching joints. I'm a bit confused as to whether it's a ligament in his knee, his ankle or both??? I've seen mixed reports. if it's his knee LCL it was likely when the knee kind of twisted and the inner knee his the ice. The LCL is on the outside and is generally pretty study. If it's a minor injury in can heal anything from within a few hours with compression, elevation and ice to a few days of rest. A partial tear can take 2-6 weeks or rest, a brace and physio. A full tear can be treated with surgery and 4-8 weeks rest, a brace and physio. Prevention from further injury is basically what Yuzuru likely already does since it's conditioning thigh muscles and hamstrings to better absorb impacts. If it's an LCL in his ankle, ability to bear weight can return after a few days of rest but should be rested and treated with physio for 2-3 weeks, but may require support bandaging for 6 months when returning to sport. My brother used to play rugby so I can't really say how it can affect skating but withdrawing was the best thing to do to avoid more serious injury and seriously limiting motion/the risk of becoming more prone to repeat future injuries.

It's amazing. Everyone should aspire to bullshit as masterfully as Yuzuru does.
-
I adore the sheer amount of bullshit he lays SO thick for the P&G things where he’s talking as if Pantene shampoo or fabric softener or whatever’s is just so totally part of his success as a skater and a happy life away from Japan. Having SoFt ShINEy hair is SO important as a skater for REAsoNs

I still think Brian should just...hide pooh under his jacket or something

The problem with googling the AQI lol Let's all quietly enjoy the mental imagine of Yuzuru being a Soft Blanket Burrito for the day
-
Flights suck, I'd rest too. Also......I dunno if Japan has this issue but the air in Seoul was atrocious today. Maybe Osaka was having a shitty air day too and he, already tired from the flight, noped out. I'm here for this character development if he honestly just took the day to rest because he recognised he was tired. eta: I looked and yeah, the area was having a moderately crappy air day so maybe its for the best lol
-
I'm gonna say...no. Maybe he's bushed from the flight and chose to listen to his body and take the day to adjust to the time zone, rest up. Maybe he's feeling reasonably confident and doesn't want to push it. My brain isn't exactly immediately leaping to bad things.

yeah i tried to work it out by looking at protocols and trying to figure out what they were intending to do XD I should just save the next time planed content is released or go hunting for the most recent planned content sheets but......they aren;t always accurate either when you have nathan writing down whatever jumps and just 'spin' as a placeholder instead of...what...kind of spin...

You are right, I am sleepy lmao. I fixed a few? I honestly have no idea how I managed to mess up the BVs. I'll go through them and double check BV and Max TES tomorrow when it's...not 11pm eta. Unless anyone wants to dump what needs fixing on me. I think you should be abl to leave comments on the sheet. idk. Or pm me.

Ta da, I added a little bit of program info for the top dudes https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IpeTJ8stTS8TQkD6xBuWuXFzj41uZVkMiDnYJjEVB1g/edit#gid=1512203578 For the SP I included stsq and spin level rates and total points awarded as a...who has the best non-jump elements type thing, I added the info @fireovertheice posted here for the fs with permission ^^ I might try to fill in the gaps myself but I suspect I might make a lot of errors. If you can think of anything else you'd be interested in being added to this section/this sheet let me know~

plot twist: he adds a 4F.......

I could expand my men's comparison sheet? Vincent has made it on for the Grand Prix sheets because he finished 4th at COC, I'll add Deniss if he finishes high enough at NHK, but I could add the three to more general stats (the jump rates, program comparisons which at the moment I'm just doing the top 10 going off isu world standing). I did the more detailed sheets for Yuzuru and Shoma because I'm....their fan lmao. I might do one for Junhwan eventually because I'm already pretty invested in him...

Acting cute in a second language you are not very comfortable with is a natural defense mechanism I think. Not really to avoid doing it but so the listener is less likely to scorn your lack of skills. I am way nicer, smilier and cuter in Korean than I am in English And as an EFL teacher there are two types of low-level/mid-level students; the ones that avoid speaking because they're not confident in their ability, and the ones that know they're not great so ham it up by being extra cute/funny. The latter can be a bit disruptive but are generally easier to teach and improve faster. Also I am a sucker and I love cuteness gimme all the cute

Will you be doing this kind of analysis through the season? Is it okay to add to my men's comparison spreadsheet?

Still can't use the home menu so I'm navigating using the 'Activity' tab. Hopefully it gets fixed soon! I'm guessing it's an issue with the host?

I can generally agree with the points about Alina and Evgenia and the general backloading issue. I think it's fine to use the system to your advantage if you can, and they can, so why not. Same with the excessive tanos and whatnot; if it helps up the score then I can't really knock them for doing it even if I think they are more effective as a spectator on just a few jumps in a program. But both strategies are perfectly fine if it is done in a way that compliments the music. As of right now, they don't structure programs to compliment the music, I find both of their PE and IN to be lacking, and I totally agree with @Katt that their focus is entirely on getting the jumps, getting the levels and racking up the points with everything else being left in the dust. Their programs are packed with transitions but with no breathing space for either skater to really commit to the movement and execute them well, making their programs look busy/borderline messy (here I think Evgenia is better in that her programs seem less messy than Alina's). They could both afford, and would probably benefit, from taking a little out so they could commit more to what they are doing. I generally don't like the feeling with either of them that they are kind of skating-with-music-in-the-background instead of skating with the music; the music complimenting their skating as their skating in turn compliments the music. Obviously not everyone can be like Yuzuru, Jason, Misha and Patrick, who I think really work with their music in wonderful harmony, but I get the impression Alina and Evgenia don't even try. They don't need to. The judges are going to give them the PCS anyway, even in areas they are weak in (PE, IN, CO is questionable). It makes their programs really difficult to engage with and really...unmemorable. I was pretty p*ssed off when Alina got highe PCS than Wakaba, particularly with them skating back to back, and I think Wakaba should have won. There's no wow/memorable moment with Alina or Evgenia's programs. And the only time Evgenia really shows any kind of character in her programs is when she's miming. I would really like to see Evgenia in particular work with a different choreographer. And, you know, judging to be even-handed. In PCS and Tech. Same issue as with Shoma; if there is an edge to be called, a messy take off or a sideways/forward entry/excessive rotation on the ice on take off or landing it should be called. If the tech panel is going to be lenient on some skaters they should be lenient to all skaters, and if they are going to be strict on some skaters they should be strict to all skaters. Just saying. I have previously defended Shoma but not because I think bad technique should get a pass or isn't a big deal, more the problem with Shoma tends to get overblown as if it's every jump when it's not - he does have some okay ones. Same goes for Evgenia tbh. I generally don't like how she jumps, it tends to really disrupt the flow for me the way she enters them. I don't get why at the moment jumps that look like they are a struggle are being seen favorably. There should be more of a reward for having good technique and effortless appearance. Just like in PCS there should be more reward for actually putting together a coherent, well-constructed program that compliments the music choice and in well performed.

The new seimei costume started growing on me from COR. I think the change in colour was a huge improvement. It looked unfinished at ACI but it does look less so. If it's going for another adjustment before NHK I'm sure the final version will seal the deal and win me over hahaha. I am slowly losing my loyalty to the first seimei costume which i think was my biggest reluctance to the new version... 3000 rhinestones...i guess tv just isnt capturing the full extent of Yuzuru's sparkliness...
