Between the SP news from FaOI and the GP placements, I'm practically disassociating right now... Lol Yuzu vs Nathan at COR. Start the GP series with a bang. Why not. I'm curious to see what he will do with Chopin if he really is resurrecting it as his SP because I think it needs more than just a jump BV upgrade to justify pulling it back for a 3rd season and with it being a program he skated to practical perfection at 3 international events, I think there's going to be a lot of pressure to perform it clean. I'm worried it's going to give judges an opening to be tight with their scoring unless he manages to skate it clean consistently. idk man idk

tbh even if he is gonna go for 7 quads I don't really view Nathan as that big of a threat. Even with 5 quads, nationals inflation and judges throwing him PCS and GOE candy Nathan couldn't beat Yuzu's best scores. And with a 7 quad program, I don't see Nathan skating clean, even if he manages to pull it off with no falls there's bound to be quality issues all over the place. Or he's gonna get injured (not that I want that but more quads = higher risk). So long as Yuzuru skates well when he needs to, he's gonna be fine, and I trust in him to do everything he can to prepare himself in any way he can to make it happen. Shoma probably is the bigger threat because he's landing his jumps, his bad technique isn't being called, and he puts enough in his programs so they don't feel as empty of Nathan's do, and imo is a better performer than Nathan, so get's the PCS. I might be biased because I simply like Shoma a lot more than Nathan but unless Shoma has a total disaster skate at olympics, i see him getting ahead of Nathan. But I trust in Yuzuru to train smart, put together a smart layout, put together strong programs, and perform at exactly the right time.

Just wanted to say I love the new layout to the not-hanyu-centric part of the forum. I love the naming!

The issue is that Lynn nominates Japanese fas in general but in reality, those Japanese fans + many international fans mostly come for Yuzu. It's not purely an issue of whether they ignore the fact that Yuzu also has international fans, it's the fact that most fans currently buoying FS, Japanese or not, are Yuzuru fans. So without Japanese fans, FS suffers, but without Yuzuru fans, the situation will be even more bleak. Rmb the report on the 4CC Pyeongchang earnings? Yuzuru fans accounted for a huge portion. Seriously. Japanese fans do deserve credit for how much money they are putting in to figure skating, but Yuzuru's impact shouldn't be downplayed when not just in Japan but all over the world, people are willing to buy the magazines and books and ice shows tickets and travel for competitions to see him, there are new people being drawn into the sport because of him. Will FS still get big crowds in Japan after Yuzu r****s? Maybe. But from the way commentators and articles do tend to act like all his fans come from Japan means they are really missing just how big his impact has been and just how much pull he has with audiences. If the ISU is lucky, a number of Yuzu fans will stay interested enough in FS to go to competitions for other skaters they like or just for general enjoyment but it's unlikely that any time soon any single skater is going to attract as many people as Yuzu does.

Tbh I always associate 'lottery' with improbability, so to actually see people winning it has been a trip for me :rofl2: an amazing one, mind you! :pbow: I'm an actual moron and only just realised I applied for, and obtained, team event tickets not singles events tickets. :hachimaki: but because friends got all the tickets we wanted I think I'm still going to the singles SP, FS and the gala I actually worked out I can afford to buy all the tickets so I can go to the team event too :rofl2: So I'll be going to Team SP, FS, Singles SP and FS and gala, unless my friend is mad I messed up and gives a singles SP/gala ticket to someone else. I'm so stupid -_- but silver lining, if my friend still lets me buy the singles and gala ticket I'll go going to every event Yuzu is involved in XD

omg jina, are you gonan use all the FS tickets? did you get any A level? i would buy one from you ;_; We got 3 C and 2 B for SP and all B for FS. I dunno how many FS tickets we have spare but I'll PM you if we have 1 unaccounted for.

omg omg omg omg omg omg so, for Pyeongchang I was requesting tickets on the lottery for me and a friend that's outside Korea. My friend got 2 other people to try for tickets to as a back up. One got gala tickets for the three of us, all of us got B for the FS, and one other person got 3 C tickets for SP (I got 2 B seats). We're trying to figure out what we are going to do but it looks like I will have a ticket for the gala after all! :yay: I dunno if we have spare tickets we need to sell yet because we might have other friends interested in going who can pick up the tickets but between us we got 5 SP tickets, 8 FS tickets and 3 gala. We just gotta figure out who's going to/paying for what. I'm so happy right now ;A;

I would root for British people but...there's no good British skaters. Really. I cheer for them but...yeah. I root for Team Korea because it's my 2nd home haha But I also cheer for Team Japan and Team China. I'm trying to root for more European skaters... Honestly, I will cheer for anyone...the only skating I'm not really interested in is Russia's. I just don't like the typical Russian approach. I find the pantomime element a lot of Russian skaters have really off-putting and a lot of them have programs I find boring. Figure skating doesn't seem like a sport where you root for your local team lol. I think Yuzu's English is fine, he maybe lacks confidence? Idk he's at least at the point now where you get the jist of what he wants to say when he tries to expand beyond 'I'm happy but I need to train more' XD

I think that's what the competitions section is for! I'm really looking forward to our first PH viewing party haha

I'm not concerned about him doing 9 ice shows I mean this is the guy that did 60 in one summer... I don't think we will see new programs it's too early...but well probably hear about him doing some crazy jumps or something haha

I got B tickets for men's SP and LP but failed for gala. I'm waiting to see if my friend managed to get A tickets for the SP

MCM's 4A attempt was UR (he lands forward facing) and tbh I think he was just messing around, not training it seriously. Maybe he's practising so he can show off to Yuzu when he goes to TCC XD Or to goad Yuzu into showing his 4A attempt to him. Who knows? XD

meh, they're so busy trying to show the world that they're the "good guys" and "NOT yuzu haters!!! rabid yuzu fans are the ones who are unreasonable! see, we post positive news about hanyu ALL THE TIME! yuzu fans are just over sensitive and aggressive!" i'm wary of anything GS posts now eh it's a nice gesture, I wouldn't read too much into it.
