    My eyes aren't great but I think it's just the lighting? Here's Etude at PIW 2011 The Ice 2011 FOI 2011 COC lighting sucked. COR 2011 looked a bit more bright.

    Time-line wise, if he wanted to be competitive in Sochi, it was the best time for him to move to seniors (and I'm sure he calculated that as well). He has a whole quad and used the first 2 seasons to accumulate experience and get used to competing as a senior.

    I think it's more of they know of his stubborn nature and knows that if unchecked (by Brian, Tracy or Ghislain), he will insist on competing. I truly believe the delay in the announcement of his withdrawal at NHK (and news of him crying ) was because it took a LOT to convince him to acquiesce to everyone telling him to WD. I personally think he should skip Nationals and it seems like a lot of experts think so as well but... as everyone who knows Yuzuru and his nature have said, that might be a tough pill for him to swallow. And I think that's why we get a lot of articles and opinion pieces that echo that.

    Here's Hope & Legacy at Worlds'17 with different camera angles... in this, you can clearly see at the end when he raises his hand and declares himself as number one. May we see this again at the Olympics.

    I'm a naturally pessimistic person but this time I'm forcing myself to be optimistic about his health and well being. He's someone who likes to overcome challenges and this might just be one of the biggest one in his career so far (and he's had a LOT /sob/). Whatever happens, he WILL compete at the Olympics and I will be here to support whatever his decisions are leading up to the games and during the competition itself. While I myself at this point don't care about the medals anymore and just want him to be healthy and happy, I know he wants that Gold so I will try not to think negative thoughts about his condition going to the Olympics and just focus on cheering him on and praying that he will be able to achieve what he set out to do. In the meantime I will be filling this Yuzu-shaped hole in my heart by watching NHK & Worlds H&L over and over again.
