2018/2019 Season Program Announcements

I thought that the Seven Nation Army was not a good choice for Marin, her dainty hand movement seems too ingrained for her to be able to do actual non-ballad rock, but from the snippet it sounds like she's doing that jazzy cover version, so it may work for her. Excited to sed the whole program from her! Tarakanova and Imagine Dragons looks awesome. Whoa. -

I wonder, if a skater brought unorthodox music to David Wilson, would the end result be interesting? I'm also not very excited for Med's programs. Since I'm planning to go to Helsinki, I'm going through the programs to see what skaters there have up their sleeves, and tbh I'm disappointed in the choices by the ladies. Lots of slow music, lots of David Wilson. I'm scared that it'll be boring. (I can't believe I'm typing this, but Zagitova might be one of the few going uptempo.) -
Alexandra should do a program to Rapnutzel.

I know many teachers personally, and believe me, they complain about parents as much as about kids. And usually they have a very good reason to complain, to be honest. I guess in FS, where there are lots of very young people, parents keep an eye on their kid, whether it's their wellbeing (like Yuzu) or career (like Nathan). And often it may lead to disagreement with a coach. It sounds like Daria may have been in emotional distress, and her mother supported her. I think that if Daria's mother was more career-oriented rather than wellbeing-oriented, she'd have pushed Daria out there on the ice herself.

I meant other skaters - I've seen Yuzu's about a million times . (Torrents are fine) They did that horrible thing too everybody, and I'd like to see others with goid camera angles too. Iit was awful. Actually, even with the NBC footage it wasn't all that great either because their camera seemed lower and the lighting was so dark that most of the time you can't see Yuzu's legs. It's a bummer especially when he does those beautiful jumps.
-
It'd be nice if they edited it without the aerial camera...*never satisfied* *grumble grumble* Does anyone know where I can find the Olympic FS event from NBC, the one with Tara and Johnny? I've got Yuzu's performance, but I'd like to see the others. NBC had better edit.

I think Yuzu will have to shift his definition of "perfect skate" then because this way he's setting himself up for a disappointment.
-
I think the greatest challenger for Yuzu will remain Shoma. Then Boyang then Nathan - I Put the Nathan third because I can't imagine that university and training away from his coach won't affect his results. Vincent might surprise us: he's at the age when skaters make great progress and mature artistically. I'm somewhat excited for Juniors this year, there are a few capable of quad Lutz even. I think soon we'll witness a new era of many skaters with a wide repertoire of quads, so who of them will get to the top will depend more on components, reinforced by the new scoring system.

I don't have any allergies, but I believe that the most common way of testing whether one is allergic to something, including food allergies, is putting allergens on one's skin and checking whether there's a reaction. People go to the doctor, have lots of plasters with various allergens taped to their skin, and they wait to see which will cause the reaction (though in half of the cases I heard about there is no reaction so either the doctors don't have that particular allergen or the method isn't reliable). Perhaps Yuzu had further tests done once his reaction to disinfectant was discovered to see what particular substance he was allergic to. It's Yuzu we're talking about, we know that he's prone to allergies, so alcohol allergy is just as likely as it being an excuse - and as someone who just doesn't like alcohol but is pressured to have he a drink sometimes, I wouldn't blame Yuzu for having an excuse. (And btw, we can't make it through life without some white lies, nobody is 100% truthful.)

Wow, that's real petty. I guess they were fine with Dai going to the Olympics despite finishing 5th at Nats? Ehhh, I bet they were mad when Yuzu won those Worlds. Nevermind, I think Yuzu has experienced enough of fan support now that if he encounters negativity it will be overtaken by all the love he gets. But sheesh, there's gonna be fanwars. That link about "Yuzuru avoiding being interviewed by Takahashi" and "Hanyu fans attacking Daisuke in a orchestrated manner" implying that Yuzu orchestated it was an eye-opener, especially because I've seen Yuzu fans claiming the exact opposite, that Daisuke hates Yuzu and doesn't want to interview him. Whatever the reason for that interview situation, it shows that both sides have some crazy contingent, and it's gonna get ugly in some parts of the internetz, and not in the mildly-amusing juvenile Evgenia-is-a-crazy-lovesick-girl-who-followed-Yuzu-to-Toronto-although-he-wants-nothing-to-do-with-her kind of way.

Whut? Geez, I missed so much before the Planet came into existence! What was this about? Why did they want him off the team?
-
You mean overscored or underscored?
-
Uhhh, you just give an impression of being angry. Sorry. My bad.

??? Japanese Nats 2012?
-
Yata, nothing has happened yet, what's the use of assuming unfairness and getting worked up when none of them have put a foot on competive ice yet and no judges have given a score? Just wait with your anger a bit until there's something substantial to be angry about? Now, I hate to be raining on the parade, but I fear Daisuke might get disappointed in his comeback. He's 32, and you guys say it's not too old. But he's been away from competition for 4 years, and the amount of trainining he'll have to do in order to become competitive will be MUCH greater than when he was 22 or even 28. I'm not even sure it'll be doable. The PCS won't carry him if the tech isn't there, and I fear it might not be. Even if he gets overgenerous scores domestically, he won't get them unternationally - see what happened to Patrick. The quad revolution has happened - and even at Japanese Nats it might prove too hard for him to get over the guys with higher tech content, and I'm not just thinking Yuzu and Shoma here. I think the best Daisuke can achieve on the Worlds level is top 10 - and even that's uncertain, to be honest. Even accounting for new rules. I hope Daisuke realizes that and is fine with that. Then it'd be perfect because Daisuke is a vety enjoyable skater to watch indeed. That said... Yeah, c'mon Nobu, try!

Ahem, and Yuzu fans too.

Out of curiosity, I googled "hydroblade" and wow, some people can do some really low ones too: It makes me wonder who do so few skaters put it in a program? It can't be such a difficult feat if a non elite skater can do it. I remember Jason do it, but it was much shorter than Yuzu's. Can anyone remember any recent skater doing a hydroblade in a competitive program too?

I'm not really sure: this is the first season with new rules, and skaters might need to experience how costly unclean skating is on their own skin first before they become more conservative. The whole thing really is unpredictable due to new scoring, I think most skaters will want to participate in Challenger events just to see how the scoring will look in practice. -

I've been testing my mobile data program and internet connection watching old FS videos in HD because I can't concentrate much on anything productive. (I feel obliged to plug Mintaka Alnilam's youtube channel which has 1080p60fps videos from Salt Lake City Olys. I don't know how but wow, great source if you need to kill some time.) -
