Pointless opinion under spoiler because probably boring to most: I 100% agree on that. I have a bit the same issues with spirals (positions are often not great by ballet standards, but it is also an unfair comparison given that skaters have different constrains, so I personally avoid it). I mean in general, not Yuzu specifically. Seriously, put me in skates and see how well I can jump (hint: not well. not even close. ) Bottom line: 1) Obviously if we judge by ballet standards, professional dancers will be better. It'd be shame for them otherwise. It's their turf. 2) I still love Yuzu's jump. It's so unique, and goes well with the flow of the sequence.

To be fair, you're not starting from a standstill in the pas de basque (you can kind of guess the dancer's preparation turn before the actual jump) and the weight of the skates is a big factor (I remember finding it sooo disturbing myself doing a simple arabesque). But, yeah, ballet dancers are jumping beasts...

2019/2020 Season Program Announcements
Veveco replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
So... no music about Cleopatra? Or even the right time period? I'm imagining an Egyptian cliché overload - but I really hope I'm wrong. After the POTO cuts, Alina deserves a good music this time. Hopefully it is just me being pessimistic, because done well it has potential. -
Not quite as impressive as Konstantinova but still funny

And it's working

It sounds more like an intolerance or sensitivity to me. Basically the body can't process alcohol properly and the accumulation of the byproducts causes the side effects. This is very common among East Asians for instance (there is a very well-known genetic cause for this). An allergy on the other hand is essentially an overreaction of the immune system against a rather harmless substance. Though people often call reactions that are not allergic in nature "allergies" so it gets quickly confusing. Strictly speaking, they are quite different. I'm not sure what is Yuzu's condition, but it is likely a non-allergic skin reaction case. Also, there are different types of alcohols. If he's only "allergic" to isopropyl (a common rubbing alcohol type and a known potential irritant), he might be fine with ethanol (the drinking kind), low tolerance aside.

Wishing Yuzu the best for the new season (and may fans not loose all their hair) And happy Canada day to all fanyus from "the North"

Kazuki 's Moulin Rouge. It' s weird seeing him all grown up.

There is no stopping ToshI now, is there?

Fairly sure he is not going to Shanghai Trophy. As mentioned by @sallycinnamon a few pages ago, it's pretty inconvenient for him calendar-wise, huge travel and no real point competition-wise.

Ouch...

I know!! Every time I see one of these I wish it were Yuzu How captivating that would be...

Thank you for the feedback I admit the stat part amuses me because data analysis is part of my job... But analyzing data from fellow satellites is so much more fun About the term "fanyu", I guess I am among those who use it with pride & amusement (though I am not unaware of the possible derogatory meaning) so I see no problem, but if others don't like it I can change it. I did consider using "satellite" instead but I couldn't come up with a good alternative for "infanyuation". I'm curious to hear others' thoughts. I'm trying to come up with a good design for the cover right now. I have a few ideas. If people like the design, maybe we can use it for the t-shirt? I'll come back with something soon.

I just posted an update on the fanbook in the related thread. Basically, the content is all in and I am finalizing the form. (Sorry it took so long) Meanwhile, you can have a look at the survey part here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jlFR16sdLU2rfeSfjRYpbsP0SlGwufDq I should share more soon. Thank you for all those who participated

Reviving this thread for an update on the fan book !!! In the end we have 4 sections: 1) Statistics based on the survey 2) "If it wasn't for Yuzuru..." answers from fans 3) Interesting quotes from coaches, other skaters, commentators, public figures, ... (thank you @makebelieveup for your help for this part ) 4) Messages & photos/creations from fans The book is basically 95% finished, with a total of approximately 80 pages!! I'm sharing the current version of the survey part below for now. If anyone has other ideas on possible analyses or questions you want to be answered based on the survey, feel free to contact me. (Or if you notice a typo or mistake, please tell me as well so I can correct ) I'm open to suggestions. I can basically intersect any of the answers of the survey together (like I did for fan since vs. favorite programs for instance). I can add something to the book later if we get an interesting new stat, but I wanted to focus on finishing the fan answers first. As you can guess, the reason why it took so long was simply because of the high number of answers. For the book: 391 testimonies (counting the "If it wasn't for Yuzu" + messages), as well as ~40 photos & creations, all that from ~210 different fans in total. (By the way, the survey part had over 700 answers.) All answers have finally been incorporated in the book. I'm giving myself one more week to "polish" and finalize the formatting & layout. Once the book is completely finished, I'll work on sharing more of the final result with everyone (keeping in mind the privacy issue). For now, here is the link for the survey results: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jlFR16sdLU2rfeSfjRYpbsP0SlGwufDq ~To be continued~

When I read the comments, some people were already complaining that the "shade interpretation" might be blamed on Yuzu... So I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason.

Yuzu, the beauty blogger, comedy act #34643268. I'm telling you - pure genius at work
-
Mixed feelings about the color of that suit but cutsie & smiling Yuzu is adorkable so who cares And the "beauty-blogger-who-doesn't-do-skin-care" and "let-me-answer-beauty-questions-with-skating" acts will never get old! The whole thing is pure genius

Personally, I genuinely don't mind Olympic Channel. I mean, yes, they are in for the response as any channel, but 1) they do deliver good content about Yuzu (at a time where YT is deleting more and more FS videos, OC delivers a 40+ min compilation that anyone can watch for free! And so many other clips and articles about him) and 2) they also promote a lot of other athletes who are far, far less famous. So they're not *just* about the views and are also generally good with avoiding drama (unlike ISU who can't seem to read the mood of Twitter crowd.... at all...) At the end of the day, they promote Yuzuru to a potentially broader audience who might not watch FS otherwise so it is a win-win situation. They also have no qualm publicly recognizing his star qualities, so I wouldn't call it "abusing Yuzu" as much as... being smart about it? They don't drag him down in any way.

Because, obviously, Yuzu has no true rival at his level. Got it!
