Currently, we are aiming to close the forms after May 12th, so in 2 weeks. I hope that is a reasonable time for you.

@makebelieveup Yes, I think you can start the compilation! For everyone: after noticing some compatibility issues, I have switched to Google forms for our project. I made a separate thread so people don't have to go through 16 pages of discussion to dig the instructions: https://planethanyu.com/topic/926-fan-project/ Meanwhile, we can continue to talk about the content of the other sections here!

Dear satellites, As discussed in the Yuzu Cheer Project, after the 2019 world championships in Saitama, many people wanted to do something to show our appreciation for Yuzuru’s continuous efforts and his incredible performances, and send him a message of encouragement from the Planet. From all the suggestions, two main ideas have emerged (see below). This thread is to summarize our project and provide easy instructions for every satellite who wishes to participate. 1. The fan book project We want to show that Yuzuru is truly loved from all over the world by collecting information, messages and pictures from satellites in a fan book. You can help us by following these simple steps. Click here to answer our fan poll. This little poll is meant to find out more about our community. Where do satellites come from? When did they become fans? What are their favorites programs and costumes? Etc. We’ll analyze all the answers at the end and compute some fun stats about the Planet. Satellites can also directly participate in the fan book by sharing their own experience as fanyus. You can tell us how Yuzuru has impacted your life, share pictures of Yuzuru-inspired creations or write a message for him. To do so, click here if you have a personal Google account, or here if you do not. (The only difference between the two forms concerns the upload of pictures. Having a Google account allows you to directly upload them from the form. If you don't have one, you will have to send any picture by email to [email protected] - just a little bit more work for you. Other than that, the 2 versions of the form are identical.) The deadline for sending your answers and messages is set to May 12. After that date, we will work on analyzing all the results and prepare the book. If you have any issue with the forms, please contact me and I'll do my best to fix it as soon as possible. 2. The Charity Donation We also wanted to give a meaningful gift to Yuzuru to show our appreciation. We have decided that, rather than aiming for a material gift, we would honor his kindness by organizing a charity donation. After debating our options (see the threads here and here for more details), we have chosen 2 causes. Opinions were split on the most appropriate one, so we will let people chose individually the one they want to donate to. The Sendai Ice Rink Playground of Hope Everybody probably knows of Sendai ice rink, and if you wish to know more about Playground of Hope, you can find more information here. We are still figuring out the practical details of the donation to make it as efficient as possible (we don't want to waste money in international transfer and currency exchange fees). When things are decided, I will update this post with clear instructions on how to proceed. (Meanwhile, don't forget to answer our little poll.) Thank you all for your participation !

Yes! Keep the positive. I hope Yuzu inspires you to be the best version of you regardless of the rest. I wish you the best with school!

The supposed criteria (since they are not officially known) :
-
All I know is that nationals play a big part, hence why Dai is in and not Marin for instance. But surely there are other criteria. Maybe worlds/gp?
-
I can directly contact Playground for Hope (since they speak English) and explain our project. They might have a preference for a certain crowdfunding system? We could do the same for the ice rink of course... but we probably need a Japanese speaker.

@Salior Thanks for the feedback! I considered that at first. My main issue is having data in a format that is easy to analyse at the end of the day, which is why I went for preselected options. With an open text box, I'll have to manually re-enter everything (if people spell the name of a program differently for instance, or shorten it, it will mess up everything so I would need to check each text box answer). Although, admittedly, it will probably be a rather small percentage of answers since I covered the most popular programs already so maybe it won't add that much work in reality? Hmm.... Having 1-2-3 choices, however, is a very easy change. Well, it's a bit of a conundrum for me because on one hand this idea seems pretty popular (and I agree that they are amazing artists!), on the other hand everybody who gave feedback on my original "strategy" said that they wanted the project to be "planet-centric". For me that means not inviting other artists. It'd be a bit strange if everything is PH only, and then "random" other artists appear on another page? It's still open to debate though. I'll make a few changes on the form and we can start advertising it. Should I start a new topic to promote the fan poll? So people don't have to dig into this thread to find the final instructions? Meanwhile we can continue to discuss details of the content of the fan book on this one.

Even with crowdfunding sites, we have to check that, after collecting the funds, the fees when transferring to the charities, which are both in Japan, would be minimal. Maybe going for a Japanese crowdfunding system could prevent the double fee? I know language can be an issue but hopefully we can find one in English? I'd need to do some research though, because I have no idea right now. Edit: At this point, I think we can agree on a tie and let people choose individually which one they want. One or two more votes won't change the general result.

All of that from the warm-up crash? Ouch, poor girl! I hope she takes a good rest. Concussions are not something to laugh about, and broken ribs are so painful...
-
Already the subbed video? So fast. Fanyus are efficient and dedicated! Yuzuru always offers such inspiring and encouraging words to both his hometown and his supporters
-
Quick reminder for people to send me some feedback for the form if they have any comment! I'll wait a few more days before advertising it.

Welcome back @micaelis Is CBC unilaterally adopting Yuzu part of a secret "get Yuzu the scores he deserves by making him almost Canadian" plot? Or just click bait? Now, about that US costume..........
-
I feel the same personally We'll try to organize the donation soon-ish, but we're still debating the practical details. Long story short, but individual donations (rather than a group donation) might be more efficient to avoid additional international transfer & currency exchange fees. In which case, feel free to make your donation at a later date if that works better for you! No pressure. Once we have decided our pick, we'll finalize the details so we can coordinate everything efficiently.

Hey, everyone! Here is a first draft of the form that we want to send. The link to download is the following: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ovXrNrzCqzfi8uFNpM7WpWou5ZmjHD2-/view?usp=sharing A few notes: 1) I protected the doc (except where you can give answers). You need to download the doc first, the form doesn't work if you open it on Google drive directly. 2) I added some new questions to the poll part. If you have any idea of other question we could ask, I'm all ears! 3) For the favorite programs, I only included his competitive senior programs. For the costumes, I added a few of his most well-known exhibition programs. Do you think I should include more? Personally, I feel that it's a pretty big range of choices already. I also considered whether I should separate SP and FP, but it seems a bit repetitive that way... 4) As a non native speaker, I'm always a bit self-conscious about writing in English, so if there's any glaring mistake, please tell me 5) The layout is pretty basic right now. Is this good or do we want something fancier? 7) Feedback in general is always welcome

I agree that the technical & total scores should not be directly compared because of the different systems. PCS, though, should be similar enough for comparison in principle. And, from what I've seen of the sbs videos, people are mostly using them to compare transitions.

Take care! Your thoughtful posts are always so interesting to read. I hope everything goes well

I'll throw in the idea but.... Why not offer both options? Let everyone decide where they want to send money to? Just a thought. I do think though that we need to find out the payment method before promoting the chosen cause. Alright, I'll start preparing the Gmail & fan form then. I'll try to come back tomorrow some time with a first draft that we can review. I'm hoping that by the end of next week we can come up with a template we all agree with and start sharing the form with all satellites. @makebelieveup I think the next step would be to see how we reorganize the different sections if we want to keep this project planet-centric. Then we can "assign" people to the various tasks. But... not tonight for me

Guess the New Programs! (and win nothing if you do)
Veveco replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
Didn't she also choreograph for Nathan? I think she can do less complex if they wanted that. I love Shae & Jeff's styles very much... but I can also get on-board with trying a different style as well. -
OK, here is my promised summary / strategy proposal. One thing that is unclear to me but is very important: is this supposed to be a planet-centric project, or do we want to promote it outside, for instance to the twitter circles? The latter would give a much bigger target, and of course means more work to compile everything. Either way, I hope we could ask for some help from the mods to promote it (here, and maybe on Twitter if we go beyond the planet)? First, a summary of the content that was sort-of agreed on based on comments from this topic. Do we still want all of these sections? And what is the final decision on fanart? Now, my "battle plan". On one hand, I might be overthinking this if it ends up being a relatively small scale project (if we get, idk, less than 50 answers, it's perfectly manageable for just 1 or 2 people to go through the answers in a couple weeks). On the other hand, if we get a lot more answers (particularly if we decide to reach out beyond the planet), we'll need to be super organized so we are not overwhelmed. At this stage I have no idea, so I'd rather be prepared just in case. Anyway, there are basically 3 types of tasks needed: (1) research & highlight work (stats/quotes/memes/etc.), (2) collection of data from fans (if it wasn’t for Yuzu/fanart or craft pictures/short messages) + reviewing of the content, and (3) editorial work (putting the book together). Here are my thoughts on how we could go about for each of them. 1. The "research & highlight" work: 2. The "collection of data from fans" work. This is the part where we'll need to be super-organized if we aim for a big target, so I thought of the following strategy: If fellow satellites agree with the general strategy, I can create the gmail account and prepare a draft of the proposed form. Then we can talk about the exact content before we start promoting the project. Again, this might be overkill if it ends up being a smaller project, but it can't hurt to be organized. 3. The "editorial work". And.... that's all folk. I probably forgot some details, but it is long enough as it is. Thank you for those who had the patience to read everything I'll wait to hear back from others. If the general strategy is OK, as I said, I can open a new gmail, create a first draft of the "fan form". Then get feedback from everyone here, modify it as needed, and so on. I would share by DM the login info with whoever wants to work with me on this and help collect & generate everything. We'll need to coordinate, but I think it is feasible. In the meantime, we can finalize our choice of the charity to promote and get in touch with them as @makebelieveup suggested. Then promote the two together?

That... might actually be the easiest, indeed. But, wouldn't we reach a broader target if we "advertise" it at the same time as our book project? I'm just a bit concerned that by rushing the donation time-wise we'll limit the reach (?). I think most countries would have them. There's also wire transfer if needed/preferred.

I'm almost done "summarizing" how we could organize the book project, but my brain is giving up on me and telling me to go to bed *now*. I'll finish it tomorrow morning. Fair warning, it will be a long post: I'm already at 3 pages of text... For the charity, I checked for Playground of hope (since it seems to be among the more popular choices), they accept wire transfer or credit card only for donations on their website. I expect that it will be similar for other organizations, and I doubt we want to open a bank account just for this if we want to go somewhat fast. And I'm no expert on money transfer, but theoretically, we can also collect the money via paypal and do an international transfer to a japanese bank account but paypal charges ~4%, which is not a great rate Plus currency conversion fee. Maybe the best idea would be to contact directly whichever organisation we decide on. Hopefully, they could tell us what is the best option for them? Or is there any expert on international money transfer around?

I was going to write a long post a few days ago about how I think we need one person (or a few but in limited number) to take the lead on the "book" in order to get things done - but life happened and I've been crazy busy for the past week Anyway. I really want to make this idea become real and I'm ready to take the time to organize everything. But I also don't want to "hijack" a project that I did not start. So - anybody interested in joining me? I have ideas on how to proceed based on everything that was mentioned in this thread, I just need a day or 2 to organize my thoughts. Collecting everything from everyone will probably take a while anyway so maybe we can talk more about the charity in the meantime? Let's be realistic, this is not going to be finished in a week. I'm not sure about the feasibility of another short-term project considering how difficult it is to decide anything we all agree on. Are we in a rush? I know it was meant to be a post-Saitama cheer project originally, but after Yuzu 's recent reactions it seems to have naturally shifted into a "thank you" project instead. So, I' m personally not bothered if it end up taking an extra month (as long as it gets done!). But, hey, if there's an easy, concrete idea - why not?
