Speaking of rewatching Olys Sochi Men's FS... *post written in spoilers due to potentially incendiary content :þ*
-
...dangit Brian, must he really flex on us like that ;þ ;þ ;þ (...btw is it the leftover of sorts from his nephew's(?) brewery or something? 😏)
-
Quarantine got on to Phil's head I see
-
...it's apple risotto (recipe from the hit manga series Food Wars (Shokugeki no Souma)), with broccoli and bacon 😃
-
...and mine the same height as Javi ...are you trying to say that Shoma is... Piglet?? 😏😂😂 (...or Roo even! 😂😂😂)
-
...timey-wimey? 😃😃😃 About Yuzu's height, I always maintain that his height tends towards the taller side of the spectrum, especially by Asian standards 😛 it's the western men that are too tall, he's really not short! 😛😛
-
I am partial to his Seimei hair — I knew that from a hairstyle POV it's a bit basic but it just looks that good, simple and elegant 😻😻💙💙 edit: ofc there's more than four choices there 😫 — well then I pick 1, 3, and 6 😃

I mean, true, but still better than no content at all though? 😅😫🙈

I too can get a bit too jittery from coffee which might be a bad idea nowadays but if I don't have my coffee I'll spend the rest of my day in a lethargic mood, almost barely alert — a low energy state overall, so I will have my coffee please ☕ BTW my most Yuzu-like thing ever done? I was quite driven in my school life until I wasn't anymore :x :x :x :x also, did intense physical exercise I did during my highschool (in preparation of becoming a full member of school hiking club) count? Please make that count 🙏🙏🙏 Also a slightly different topic but I have the privilege of being born in the same year as Yuzu — gee, thanks for making my life (achievement) looking soooo average Yuzu!

This Yuzu insta fan acc posted the bits with him in 😄

I got the info about preferring delicate tasting food from the FaOI interview he did with Nobu and Shoma (admittedly it was in response to which kind of cake he prefers, so it's most likely that he responded specifically about cakes, not about his food preferences in general). ...and about the Ghana cocoa concoction, he made that with his fans in mind, so you can argue that he didn't base that creation on his own preferences at that time 😏 (...and another word on him preferring Ghana chocolate — I remembered that he said he likes Ghana because he can eat more without feeling like he had too much of it too quickly).
-
I also remember he has the tendency of not eating food items with *rich* flavors, he tends to simpler, delicate tasting food (to go with the cake example, he prefers strawberry shortcake to chocolate cake because chocolate cake tastes so rich and intense compared to strawberry shortcake that said, Yuzu definitely doesn't mind chocolate at all 😏 ). It has more to do with personal preferences to dietary limitations due to health reasons . What I also remember of Yuzu's alcohol intolerance was that alcohol makes his skin dry, and he decided to not consume it after finding out about this.

It was like a lightning bolt on a clear sky — so unexpected and shocking, I only found out about it on Tuesday as well (... through an Austrian newspaper site, since Chris' longtime GF is Austrian). My heart aches for his family and loved ones 😭.

I left the planet for a few days and I am already 20+ pages behind here— that's a reminder for you to not underestimate the power of the planet 😅😅😅 even as we enter the drought season way earlier than we expected 😫😫😫 Corona rambles incoming↓ Anyhow, speaking of Yuzu's whereabouts, I feel like it's likelier for him to stay at Toronto, ninjaing as he wont to do during off-season 😃😃. The pandemic might already subsides by May in Japan, but even then I don't feel like it would be feasible to hold the ice shows as planned. It will be another unusually long drought but I don't mind having FS (...well, Yuzu really 😛😛) content only at the start of the new season (which is more like mid-September, amirite? 😛), rather than having him (and other skaters) risking it in ice shows in the coming months. Anyhow, let's keep doing our own part during these trying times, wash your hands, and I'll be off to watch Yuzu's latest CBC interview 😄😄😄

Junior Skaters of 2019/20 Season
Figure_Frenzy replied to sallycinnamon's topic in Igloo World: Team Other Skaters
Not that it says a lot but I came across this blog post by recommendation through the home tab (it's a feature in android chrome) — it's that PCS judging issue on Yuma (which I think has happened to other skater previously?) https://sulog.net/figureskate/post-32266/amp/ Needless to say that such mistake should never happen again in the future 😒 -
There's an interview with Jason Brown from the recent 4CC on Canon's website https://global.canon/ja/event/skating/interview/2019_2020/brown.html Those who could provide a translation (even just in summary) are highly appreciated — meanwhile I'll try reading as much as I can understand from that interview...

...cute and clever, with bouts of brattiness, that's how I imagine it

I am jumping late into the flag discussion, but...

The way I understand it Fuji TV *commissioned* Qoncept to make a measurement program (IceScope, then later the IStat) for FS, and it wasn't the first time Qoncept made such programs, they have made other measurement programs for other sports as well (eg. volleyball, sumo). A brief breakdown on the basic program they use to build the Ice Scope There is also ice::stat for the GP series broadcast a few months back (also from Qoncept btw) — let's hope that one will be used for Worlds as well... ...though judging from the recent Euros ice dance judging brouhaha it might end up being a moot point anyway (...the way judges insist to just use a footage from just one POV for their judging needs... 😩😫)

*only* petered out in the 28th century!! Long live Hanyuism!!!

...like this? It works!

Also speaking of the name Ghislain... @Veveco as a non-native french speaker 😅😅🙈 I sometimes pronounce his name with a hard G 😅, but never with a silent s, with either version of the G pronunciation 😅🙈 though again, always ending it with the nasal N in either pronunciation case. Now I am not so sure why I share this, considering that it might just be another moot point anyway 😅😫🙈 (mon français est très cassé, hein! 😫😫)

I must admit, I was immediately skeptical when I heard of Pechalat's candidacy for FFSG presidency — one cannot reform, let alone revolutionize, the whole organization just by proposing a female candidate. I later hold myself on that and try not to be so skeptical about it — I knew little of the actual situation after all. This plan, however, legitimized my skepticism. Even if this turns out to be a compromise of sorts, I just feel that... No... One should not compromise with those buggers... I support Sports Minister Roxana's effort to raze FFSG to the ground and rebuild it — she has no reason to hold back on that, and I truly hope that that's truly her plan, along with other former skaters that sincerely support this cause (Peizerat, Abitbol, etc.)

1. When I first came across this thread and the questions I inclined to think that I'd continue following figure skating as closely as I did like as if Yuzu is still competing (because, well, I don't wanna miss how the sport is going to develop after his leave), but after I observed my own actions during the season (especially when Yuzu was in the recovery mode) I must admit that I would most likely be only a casual fan after Yuzu retires from competitive skating. I wouldn't follow the comps as closely (ie. good for me if I can catch the stream live, alright if I only catch it after the fact — heck I even already do this at the latest comps I care about (4CC, JNats, what have you). The reason why I felt like I would continue to follow it closely is because I don't want to miss the development that happens in the sport (the good developments ofc!). I don't wanna be an old hat like say, Brian Boitano :v :þ , I wanna remain in touch with FS, should I come back to watching FS closely (probably due to the newest star athlete) after not following it as intensely for a while after Yuzu's retirement. But now, after seeing the bungling by the jUDGeS and the impotent ISU officials, I doubt that I can bring myself to keep following it as closely as before — sure there are promising skaters to keep an eye on (Rika Kihira, Yuma, Shun, to name a few just from Team Japan), but I must admit that I can't promise them the same support like I gave to Yuzu 😢. 2. Of course it will be impactful — if anything, other people (people outside the Fanyudom™) definitely underestimate the hole that he'd leave in the wake of his retirement — good luck filling that hole up, folks :þ

Exactly!
