  1. Ah- so putting it where it will cause some reaction then.
  2. I'm done - picked the obvious then did the racehorse pick
  3. Mmmm- I got the same impression.
  4. I too would love to see something like this. I've seen two documentaries about Uchimura, one about how he altered his rings technique in order to make it onto the 2010 Olympic team (got silver in the AA with an injured ankle- sound familiar?) and the second an amazing one where they analysed his technique using things like motion capture, MRI scans and putting him in a jet fighter simulator and comparing his reactions with those of other gymnasts. I don't understand Japanese but they used lots of diagrams and slo motion highlighted sequences so you got the gist. I've always hoped they would do the same for Yuzuru as he is as much of an outlier in skating as Uchimura is in gymnastics, but I suppose it would be hard to do when he doesn't train in Japan. It was also a bit over dramatic in places but very interesting.
  5. I think you should do whatever is easiest for you - you're doing all the work
  6. He expected the entire four years to go differently- he has been playing catch up with his own plan since CoC 2014, and then the surgery and after that the foot injury in 2016 kept messing up his schedule, but as far as I can see he hasn't let any of them derail him, he just recovers and ploughs on. He's had 2 months to rethink his strategy - 2 kuyashii months I should think. IDK whether he'll do it or not, but I'm sure he'll be giving it his best shot and no one can expect more than that.
  7. They really do - he's so sensible and down to earth - no posturing or 'in my day' comments and no nationalistic crap. He just wants everyone everywhere to have the chance to see his sport- and he's dead right about the TV.
  8. I don't want to seem like a killjoy but he managed without Pooh at Sochi? He's not the sort to want special arrangements made for him?
  9. that's probably the intention - more macho y'know.
  10. I have a PDF of it if someone could give me the idiots guide to uploading it? Failing that, google 'Guardian Hanyu Curry ' and it will pop up.
  11. I know!!! It's full of really dubious news reporting but minority sport gets paragraphs, not just pretty pictures- amazing.
  12. I'm staking out the spare room for the singles and pairs so that I can have p&q and yell if I feel like it.
  13. I will forgive the Groniad for a lot after their nice article about John Curry and Yuzuru. Any quality newspaper coverage is a good thing. The Times doesn't even have sporadic coverage- just Olympic results, no articles. Pages and pages and pages and pages of football- reports, results, analysis, gossip, occasionally spilling over into the crime pages. Rugby, cricket, horse racing- apart form that it's little bits and bobs of coverage of any other sport. At least the skating makes it onto the tv - one of my sons is a keen fencer and you're lucky to ever see that off YouTube.
  14. Talking of UK newspapers - it's a weird thing - the Times doesn't cover skating at all really but throughout the GP season, in their photos section, they had a picture of a competitor (usually female and pretty - I definitely remember ER) from each competition. My mothers tabloid of choice, a rag called the Mail actually has articles about it - ( not large or prominent ones because the winter is for football as any fule kno) but actual written content. Odd.
  15. It's the NYT a month before the Olympics, and NC has just won their national competition in a fairly emphatic fashion- of course they're going to edit the title of an article about his rival. Be grateful it isn't a UK contender with the UK tabloids weighing in - then you'd really see some terrible headlines.
  16. But before he can do that V himself has to see that there are problems, which doesn't seem to be the case at the moment
  17. Thank you for doing this - hope you're feeling better. Startled to see my name winning a round- American results should drop me to my rightful place!
  18. Sorry - badly phrased - I meant that Shoma might benefit from doing the FS
  19. Well Shoma did lots of back to back competitions last season and seemed to thrive on them so he might benefit from doing the team free if they get that far.
  20. He accepted the need to adapt Phantom to what he could physically manage in 2014/15 - maybe he can do it again but it is Olympic year.........
  21. I was watching a lagging stream with no sound at 4.30 this morning which I couldn't watch and read the comments here at the same time, so I didn't realise that it was the fabled VW costume until after I read all the comments here later - I genuinely thought it was a Nike t shirt as he was wearing a Nike jacket in the k&c - thought it was a bit casual for Nationals!
  22. Soooo true - and we have Ms Wangs second effort for Nathan to look forward to
  23. Happy New Year to everyone 🥂 I can't possibly catch up with the past week or so, but I did watch the making of the banner vid - well done @gladi and her assistants human and feline, it is beautiful. Got to go and sort out the last of the festivities - I hope to God 2018 is a better year than 2017 has been 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
  24. Merry Christmas to all 🎄
  25. It's a great new banner - sorry I didn't notice it when I logged in briefly earlier but it's been a looong day. It's great, not as pretty as the birthday one, but still lovely - thank you it's cheered me up a little.
