  1. It is Canadian content, after all...no matter how hard we try to pretend Bieber isn't one of ours...
  2. Conbini ( like 7-Eleven) or bookstore, maybe? Or a Lawton's? Those are the places I would try first, if I were in your shoes. Good luck!
  3. Now I get it. Thanks
  4. Yuzurious: the luxurious feeling of having watched Mr. Hanyu set blade to ice
  5. And let's not forget the following superlatives: yuzurific yuzurious yuzuful, or hanyuful yuzuritive hanyumonous never mind hanyuconomy, here comes hanyulexicology.
  6. I can't claim credit for that one; the term has been kicking around for quite some time.
  7. Was thinking the exact same thing. Imagine being a 40th century archaeologist unearthing such a collection and trying to interpret it: Dr. Archaeology: It appears that in the early 21st century, a cult arose around the figure of a youth who was said to fly over the ice on blades. Our researchers have unearthed thousands of ritual objects associated with said cult, in many sites across the planet formerly known as Earth. At its height, millions of people, mainly but not all women, adored this god-like figure. Dr. Social Anthropologist: The cult appears to have begun as a subset of the much larger worldwide obsession with competitive sport. Adherents were known to spend days at a time admiring their idol within the frozen temples that they called 'ice rinks'. Considerable time, energy, and expense were poured out to train competitors for the young 'god', who would then be summoned to compete for the edification of the masses watching. Dr. History: this cult, known at it's height as 'Hanyuism', eventually petered out in the 28th century, but not before inspiring unparalleled frenzies of devotion, such as the tossing of millions of fabric bears onto the sacred surface of the rink to conclude the competition ritual. Dr. Archaeology: Hanyuism has receded into the mist of time as nothing more than a 2000-year-old legend, until today. With the discovery of these troves of carefully preserved 'clear files', as worshippers called them, we now have incontrovertible proof that Yuzuru Hanyu really did exist. Dr. Social Anthropology: ...as impossible as that may seem. I mean, really, who would ever believe in the existence of a man who could rotate 4.5 or 5 times in the air above the ice, and land without harm? Dr.History: There are days when the Santa Claus myth seems far more plausible to me.
  8. Again, off topic so spoilered: Like,
  9. Off topic completely, but, I was thinking about it, and I feel like Nathan's movement style has a bit of Alvin Ailey* in it. Maybe more than a bit. *Scroll down the page for the video, you'll see what I mean Agree/disagree/ or should we just get back on topic already.
  10. Gonna go out on a limb here and say that Japan will be dominating Men's skating for years to come, what with all these little guys looking up to Yuzu and chasing his back...
  11. Truth be told, I think you have to come from a certain kind of place/ upbringing/ background/ what have you for that type of style to feel natural to you. The closest one to that style I can think of at the moment is Nic Nadeau, and even he is doing more refined skates than that.
  12. yes, yes, and yes. And by the way, Han Yan totally showed that same confidence in his La La Land program at 4CC. A man assured of who he is. I really hope he'll be able to sort out his quarantine difficulties and get to Worlds okay. I want to see him skate in person.
  13. Indeed. it should be interesting.
  14. Well, he gets the scores without having to do any more than that so... However, I think he tries for the artistry in some fashion. Like, there's a realization that it needs to be there.
  15. Well, open question here - is there any men's singles skaters on the scene right now that don't have at least some artistic (for lack of a better term) side? I can't think of anyone that is like, well, super 'macho' in their presentation at the moment. No one is flexing muscles and doing karate programs. I feel like men's skating has moved on, and the pursuit of beauty in the performance is more of a thing. Maybe 'refinement' is a better word to use? I mean, I find Keiji Tanaka very masculine, but not at all 'macho', if you can follow what I'm trying to convey. He's refined. Even the Russian lads, who are obviously trying to be 'manly', have a refinement to them that maybe you wouldn't have seen in Elvis' day.
  16. Well, there's nothing stopping him from making an attempt at the Gala instead, if it's sorta ready but not competition ready. I don't think he'll do that, but still.
  17. That's not the first time people have posted video of their cats watching Yuzu. The cats always seem fascinated. Guess they recognize one of their own.
  18. I wholeheartedly admire and am in awe of his determination to make nine-year-old Yuzu's dreams come true, one by one. He was one determined mushroom and now look how far he's gotten!
  19. Now I can't find the quote back, but I'm sure I read it somewhere. However, if you go read over the Olympic Channel's blog about GPF Turin, at one point they interview Ghislain and he talks about 5T bring easier than 4A.
  20. Not sure if you missed it but during the morass of interviews and press stuff surrounding ACI this year, Yuzuru did casually mention he'd been trying quints in harness in order to work on the rotation speed for 4A. Ghislain confirmed, literally said "i never thought I'd see someone do a 5S in my lifetime". So Yuzu has done quints already, in training with the harness.
  21. I didn't say it was wrong, I just said it was cute. Anyway, I was taught in school that the French 'ain' is pronounced with more of an 'eh' sound than an 'onh' sound. Perhaps wrongly, but there you go.
