Right, so senior ladies have to have at least a 2a and up to 3a is fine. For men, they have to have at least a 3a, which makes me wonder if Yuzu does a 4a, would that marks off that criteria since he would be doing an axel jump. So its an all quad layout, with two solo quads and one combo, keeping Javi's 4s while incorporating his Nessie as well
-
ohh I see what you mean. What I was trying to suggest earlier but actually for the 4A to be his starting quad instead of the 4S. edit: yeah well if he isnt going to change the 4S then the 4A wont happen in the short program. --- I remember the one the guidelines for men is there has to be axel jump, for woman its a double axel but me has to be a triple..I wonder if they will allow the men can do triple or quad axel in the future. lol
-
Really? Is that part of the rule? Thats crazy consider the technical difficulty of it and having to tail on another jump would take a long while to make it happen
-
oops double posted
-
that made me think even if he were able to land a Quad Axel on day, would that be enough to retire? I remember he said his teacher or himself wanted to see him jump Quad Axel and quints. I wonder if he could really sit tight when he retired. or maybe he would retire and then right around Beijing 2022 unretired

i agree with this. While I loveee the way every single move conducts the music note, I could still see so much more potential with this program. I mean if you watched Chopin 1.0, you wouldnt think it could improve much more until 2.0 and then 3.0. I said this before but I think that backcounter 3A from Chopin is a perfect example for the kind of balance between quietness and power that Yuzu and the Noh master discussed in the past. That silence in Otonal is perfect for something like a 4A. A show stopping moment Oh and I know he's going after GOE like he's always does, so jam packing 3 jumps in the first with a 4A might also be risky. His most stable jump is a 3A so maybe move that to the 2nd half?
-
I agree. His 3Lz are quite unstable esp as that last jump. I dont really like Lutz or Flips aesthetically speaking. I prefer edge jumps. But of course, it is a jump when done well can prove technical merit does he tend to flop skating 2nd? Sorry I dont really follow the skating order. Can you guess why it's a curse

Aww Yuzu must be disappointeddd. I wonder if having Plu-san be in the audience would give him more fuel. Off topic: Since we had many discussions previously about how great Yuzu is as a skater and person -- his abililty to overcome obstacles and withstand pressure. But if the forum allows, I would like to know what you guys perceive as his weakness(es) as a skater? I wouldnt say he has no weakness as a skater. I also dont think this is to criticize him in any form. After all, Yuzu himself said there are two Yuzus: strong Yuzuru and weak Yuzuru. He also said weakness is an opportunity to be stronger. So with that being said, based on our perception of him from the limited resources, is there anything to his skating or approach to skating you think he might need improvement on or you would like to see differently from him? If you cant find any now, was there any in the past that you think he had improved upon? It will be interesting to see the different perspectives because maybe one person might think such and such is a weakness but other sees it as a strength i.e. when I was a new fan I never thought stamina was his problem since I mostly watched his clean skate. But when I watched his fre skates esp prior to training with Brian, it was so clear. Clearly he's improved tremendously since and from what I've seen from short program, he carries the energy from begininng to end the best. But rather than stamina being a weakness, since it's primarily affected by his asthma, I would say his ability to maintain his fuel between programs in many competitions. I feel like he always needed that pressure from either his results or time to hit his potential. So if he had a poor SP, he will try anything to win in the FP and in the whole competition. But if he had a super high SP, he lost focus in the FP. I think he is the type who works most effectively under pressure, and I learn in the past, this type of people produce more creative results. So I can still see it as a strength and since Yuzu still gets the results with what he does, I cant say he HAS to do things differently. But I know Yuzu is also aware of this, thats why he's always emphasized on skating clean as his goal and getting that resounding win. edit: But the silver lining in this is since he always needed something to push him, there will always be something to push him in his competitive career. and this is how he keeps himself motivated. How he stays on top for so long and will continue. In the past, it was Javi's Quad Sal, Patrick's skating skills, and then Boyang's lutz. Now we have 4A

Yeah even a bad skate from him is more enjoyable than most

Im literally shaking thinking how soon Helsinki will come after watching Skate America
-
yeah I just want to confirm whether it was only me who thinks Otonal is different or you guys felt the same way about Chopin or any of his previous SP before. Surprisingly, I don't think Origin was that different eventhough I do think it's even more packed and difficult. You're right about the fact that it's his time to try new things. He is currently the only one who can afford this with how much he's achieved and what he's done for it. But yeahh no matter what, scores and winning are still important to him. So maybe trying a new layout was just the post PyeongChang and pre-ACI Yuzu? lol Just hope that his effort gets paid off here
-
That is true, I would give it another chance at GP Helsinki. But taking away the failed spin, the energy he carried at ACI was fine to me. So I think the problem I have with it has more to do with the placement of the technical elements. Also, I probably said this before about Otonal is that the music is so hard to get good cuts. The transition near the ending annoys me personally. Well I do believe in Yuzu and Jeff so waiting waiting

I agree! While Yuzu's skating style is so versatile that he IS what any of his program requires him to be, H&L just feels like it's HIS skating. No one else can deliver that program like he does.

Guyss, I kept rewatching Otonal and while it did seem less fleeting the more I watch it, I still think that it wasrather incomplete? Not everyone watches Yuzu's programs 1000 times each competition like us fanyus so first impression is important and I remember how my first impression (and till now) of it is "it ended aleady?" Don't you guys feel like having the layout makes it just a tad unbalance - we have many jumps and 1 spin in the first half and then the ss and 2 spins in the 2nd half. It doesnt feel like it was wrapped up nicely. Yes, I do think that this is a beautiful program but I guess by Yuzu's standard, it doesnt feel enough. I cant help but compared it to Chopin since they are both melodic, classical music pieces that carry the same quiet temperament in the first half and then powerful dynamic during the ss. So to me, Chopin is a superior program, but that's unfair because Chopin has gone through 3 seasons with 3 different layouts so its obviously super fleshed out by the final season. Everything was fine tuned to the nth degree while Otonal is still a work in progress. I wasnt a fan when Chopin 1.0 or 2.0 debuted so I'm wondering if you guys had any similar experience with Chopin 1.0. At least, to me just from rewatching Chopin 2.0 after I became a fan, I found nothing wrong with it. It was already perfect program from start to finish and 3.0 only somehow made it better in terms of the performance (at this point Yuzu could do it in his sleep). Back to Otonal's layout, I'm thinking either 4loop or 4Sal would give the same ethereal effect as the starting jump. Also, there are many parts in the first half where we can squeeze two glorious spins in rather than the jump combos. I'd suggest keeping the twizzle 3a as is since he was right on the notes there. The twizzle entry and exit also serve as a choreo movement that the theme of the program - like some kind of movements of the autumn leaves. If not then maybe change that to a backcounter 3A and place it right before the SS (get rid of that spin). Then maybe instead of the 'idk what you call it' jump that came out from the hydroblade, do a combo there. Would that be too risky? Maybe discard the hydroblade even? I didnt think it add much to the program. To me the most awkward part of the program was how the music transitioned from the ss to the final spin. Thats the part that made the program felt like it ended too quickly. So replaced with the combos, if landed perfectly, the scream of the audience could mask the music transition and at the same time, assists the program in amplifying the dynamic going into the ending spin So if you cant imagine what I've been trying to advocate: 4Loop or 4Sal - edge jumps suit the program more CSSp FCSp Twizzle 3A as is or Counter 3A closer right before ss SS 4S3T or 4T3T CCoSp This is probably a lot similar to Chopin but hey if it aint broke dont fix it.

If I remember correctly, he did in practice but not in the competition
-
The master knows what were his best. But why no hope and legacy thoooo Just the name of the program should explain itself
-
lol thats what Origin's costume all about guysss
-
right, you reminded me there. it was on twitter. tho i cant imagine how wide the topic of discussion these two would share aside from daily practice small talks, jumps and technique. probably due to the language barrier but i can only image Yuzu throwing more smiles, hugs and body languages in his daily interactions with the TCC team. But you never know haha its a good starting point

LOL I thought Nessie has been a whole PlanetHanyu jargon and I doubt he'd even get the GOAT implication. Didnt someone mention they have to explain to the japanese/chinese fans what it means? This is why I think throwing GOAT and Nessies would confuse both him and the media since they're only aware of and expecting Pooh up until this point. We should raise a high awareness for th commentators to know about the implication behind Nessie and GOAT so they can explain it to the wider audience. Then if the fans threw enough of these in the following competitions, hopefully, the Japanese media would pick this up as well. Then we all know it will lead to an interview question for Yuzu or even documentary lol imagine how the sequential events go -- Japanese narrating Yuzu's program ending "and now its time for pooh---wait? what is hapenning here. Let's replay this. Its not pooh san but some different types of plushies. We have Lapras san and many goat plushies. We wonder why fans are throwing this instead of Pooh sans?" After several competitions and japanese media's veryyy thorough research "Now the fans are throwing Nessies san and GOAT san to imply that the 4A has finally come out of water and landed on dry ground by the greatest of all time. Ahhh very fitting indeed!" Interviewer: Hanyu shenshu, what do you think about the new plushies you're receiving? Yuzu: *smiles cheekily" It's all in my calculation --- man all this talk about nessie im gonna be hella bitter if it aint happening this season

welps its bout time our Yuzu bring her some dowry
-
urghh he knows he's cute, doesnt he? he's using it well...too well
-
THANK YOU! this is exactly what i was thinking the other day making gifs for the program. couldnt have phrased my thoughts better. although this could be said to many of his other programs in general. he is the music, the mood, character, and temperament of his programs
-
as great as Yuzu is as a skater, Im quite nervous for his future students/clients. it will be interesting to see what kind of students he would choose to coach. he'll probably choose their music, costume materials, and make matching water bottle covers.
-
LOL yeah Im actually pretty impressed by Jun's english. He's improved so much and it seems like he hangs out with foreign friends more than Yuzu does. and I doubt he did because he would have said "I'm just really happy" as a major part of his interview answer or more like "I need to work harder...I really need to work more"
