yeah I remember reading this analysis. I understand the necessity of the height, speed and distance for jumps. But sometimes watching those skaters who practiced them with or without the harness, even when they got up really high they couldnt land it. And Yuzu's quad lutz had a relatively low landing, thus, he fought to get his free leg off the ice and made it look like delayed (although he did manage to land perfectly at that practice) But if the analysis is true, its not impossible to land a quad axel. I just wish Yuzu and the other skaters stay injury free. I guess my dilemma is that I hope Yuzu and the other skaters dont take landing the Axel as a race this season. He said he doesnt care about being the first to land one but we all know how that went with his Quad loop. He just likes to win and to be first. And if as the season goes and he still hasnt managed to hold a WR, the kuyashii might get impatient. I believe these skaters tested out this jump for years, but it takes daily practice when they want to seriously train for any new jump. I remember a female skater, Rika maybe, who talked about how jumping as soon as she stopped practicing her triple axel, its hard getting back into it.

We've been talking about how his 3A has been getting larger. I just checked out a video of Midori Ito's triple axel compilation and boy she got some insane heights. they even looking higher than Yuzu's. But no matter how I look at it, it doesn't seem like the height would give enough airtime to squeeze an extra rotation and even if it does, I imagine that the landing's gonna be really low. But well I'm no expert lol

The 2014 Patrick Chan and Yuzu Situation
makebelieveup replied to theblingmonster's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I just went on YT to watch Patrick's POTO program. It was really amazing and I'm impressed with this program. To bad I wasn't a FS fan during his prime though and it upsets me how some current skaters are scoring above him in the PCs area. But the fanyu in me prefers Yuzuru's POTO program and skating style. Patrick is a powerhouse while Yuzuru is just all around effortless with the kind of "wreckless abandon" Scott Hamilton described before. His interpretation of the program is more emotional, imo. P.S. I still dont really get why Yuzu's scored lower at WTT than GPF- 105 replies

The prep time going into his 4T after his 4Loop isnt much, so Im afraid it would be hard for him to change it to a 4Loop if hes going to do a 4A (like his lutz loop layout last season). His prep steps into a 4Loop are quite long and he usually does it at the left corner side of the rink. Hard to imagine a 4A and 4Loop starting layout.

The 2014 Patrick Chan and Yuzu Situation
makebelieveup replied to theblingmonster's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
It took me quite some time as a fanyu to revisit his R&J 2 program and for it to grow on me. It was definitely not as choreographically outstanding compared to his other free. I like his R&J 1 a lot more like a lot. Its funny because he wrote this long email to David Wilson, begging him to choreograph his free to win Sochi, which thank God he did. The best things about R&J 2 program are the familiar soundtracks (good music cuts) and his expressions edit: let me squeeze some Patrick into my post to stay relevant I'm not a fan of his skating style. I dont watch that many videos of other skaters, unfortunately, if two or three videos of theirs don't appeal to me. I remember back then casually watching a few men's event programs at Sochi Olympics and his was one of them. I just thought he was good because of the comments and views but didnt really feel like watching more from him. I didnt think he was snotty or anything until I later learned about their situation. I don't really dislike him, just indifferent. I think many athletes are catergorized into two types. Those who reached great heights of success so every one else is their enemy. Those who are nice and friendly, they are top skaters but are okay with where they are. As for Yuzu, you kinda get both. He is his greatest and only enemy, so his competitive air is projected toward himself, which sometimes leads to self loathing instead. With others, he shows an incredible sportsmanship. He is so special to watch as an athlete and person.- 105 replies

Well at least he's honest. 10% bonus for the honesty. Meanwhile can there be a -1 deduction for bad music cuts.

he cant help who he is

"Right now Im not fixated on scores anymore"... meanwhile Announcer: Yuzuru Hanyu has earned in the free program 165.91... Yuzu: *laughs* *shakes his head* Announcer: earning him a total score of 263.65 Yuzu: *laughs hysterically and disgustedly at his own score Interview Yuzu: Sorry that I only manage to get around 260 at my first competition again...

Yeah the thing about an axel jump is its the take off is usually more obvious and aggressive compared to other edge jumps. If he's gonna do the 4A, it would most likely be a starting jump but I cant see it being the first jump for Otonal. The Salchow is perfect and suits the quiet temperament of the program, and a Loop would probably give a similar effect. Axel gives the best effect for dramatic program openings like RJ or POTO or as a jump in the middle. But if he is going to do a 4A, it cant be done when his stamina is running out. So I'm thinking it will be in Origin 4A 4Loop 3Loop 4S3T 4Teuler3S 3A2T 3A if he bombs the 4A, he might change the 3A to 4T3A maybe? As long as he could land the 4T, he could very probably get that 3A in the end since its success rate is very high. He's been doing it in ice shows for so many seasons

No, yeah I know Jun is gangly himself and at a closer look, his neck isnt short. Its the hairrr covering most of his neck and his baby cutie patootie face is slightly rounder. He is like most average Korean male celebrities (mostly kpop). Yuzu is just extra slender and his proportion is not very common: long limbs, long neck, long torso and legs...basically everything appears long -- like an anime character. Yuzu looks petite in fancam and Im sure live but if I only watch him skating or by himself, I wouldnt remember he is only 172cm
-
Its weird bc Jun didnt strike me as being that tall. Maybe bc his hair often hides neck? I always thought he was shorter than Yuzu until I see them standing next to each other. Our Yuzu's proportion and neck make giving him that advantage lol
-
ohhh that face is not going to look pretty. i'd feel sorry for TCC going back to train with him lol His face after the sp at helsinki is still traumatizing in a way. He looked so disappointed in himself. but if he bombed the axel and everything else in the short, he will land it and skate perfect in the free and win the competition. everytime
-
LOL yeah I think the "if I don't win it means nothing" is stronger. He might as well win without the quad axel. But then I doubt he'd ever stop competing without landing the axel. Like he was so pissed off after he lost to Nathan at COR but at the press he said something along the lines of being at least satisfied that he landed the quad lutz
-
Fun question: Which scenario will give Yuzu more kuyashii? Landing a Quad Axel and bombing all of his other quads and most of his triples or bombing the quad axel and landing all of his quads and jumps?
-
Pray for them if they do really. I hate seeing nasty falls. I just hope no injuries

I get that he is a public figure so I dont mind the idea of people approaching him when he is in public as long as he seems okay with it. But still the idea of approaching Yuzu is beyond me. I'm thinking how? Really, for me, sometimes just looking at his videos and picture gives me heart attack. To be able to reach that close to him, being in the same city he's in, in the same ice rink, and sensing his presence are all scary thoughts. If I am able to be one of the audience, I wouldnt dare to purchase that front row seat. Imagine having that feline face glance back at you for a fracton of second *shivers* I feel like Yuzu is someone I would love to watch and respect from afar. He gives off this unreachable aura. Okay I sound like a coward I should stop now

I am married to his forehead. He has such beautiful face structures that this hairstyle brings out. Heartshaped hairline, small flat forehead, small face and chin, and long crescent smiling eyes. That heartshaped hairline can be easily misunderstood for a widow's peak but with asian men, 9/10 genetically their hairlines dont recede like european men's do.

thanks!! so under the new rules, this layout has the same max value as his Chopin 3.0, even without the combo in the second half, as long as he gets +5 GOE in all elements and given the highest PCs? Thats pretty impressive. For now I cant imagine a perfect Otonal beating his Olympic Chopin yet tho.
