  1. has this been shared? ok so 4T3A in first half is nothing special according to him
  2. Actually, in terms of his performance ability, (and this is just my personal perception) I dont think he is solid as 17 year old Yuzu tho except he has better stamina. So I dont know if he can really compete with the current Yuzu in any level anytime soon if I were to judge. He could jump harder element than Yuzu at 17 in competition but that is also of how the figure skating world has evolved. He also trained with Brian at a younger age so he learned higher technical elements earlier, but he still with some UR problems. Yuzu, on the other hand, could land a huge 4T and 3A at 17 and his skating skills were more fluid. Yuzu also showed more passion around that age, so while he does have some of Yuzu qualities, I wouldnt say he is as good as how Yuzu was around his age. BUT even with that being said, I agree that from the look of the current judging system and how it often rewards technical element more, I do see that Yuzu will have to fight to stay on top when younger skaters stabilize their technical skills. And it speaks for all of them like Nathan, Shoma, Vincent even, and Boyang. So while Yuzu has to fight, the other four also have to fight against him.
  3. Yeah but since its just who he is, I dont think he will change. The passion and competitiveness are something more innate in a person. We clearly see that in Yuzu as a kid. The way he so proudly held up his trophy when he was just a mushroom. I agree and I remember Jun saying something along the lines at the press that he just felt pitiful that the choreo is sacrificed due to the 4 min constraint and that he had a lot more to show. I like the fact that he doesnt only care about jumps. You can see he is trying also taking small steps to stabilize his skills. Fix the underrotation problems and get better music and him and Boyang are two skaters I look forward to after Yuzu.
  4. Yeah, I agree and I sometimes question why does Shoma choose to become an athlete? He always appears so nonchalant that I wonder whether his goal is really to win or to be under Yuzu's shadow? Obviously, he is talented but it seems like he avoids the spotlight like a plague.
  5. Sometimes I feel legit sad for Yuzu. For everyone else, he is the standard, the leader, the one the world has to beat. If they beat Yuzu, its basically because he gifted to them with his mistakes and they would go on to make history. But with Yuzu he has to always beat himself in order to continue his reign. How can a perfect Yuzu beat a perfect Yuzu? Get a perfect GOE for a 4T3A seq without a hop in between? Do a 4A? Break his historical world records? Like dangg all monster goals for someone who could have retired by now with such a glorious career. But when we watched him after ACI, we know he still has so much fire that is not less than before. I honestly think and hope he will go on for Beijing 2022. Such talent should not stop and the world would be honored to get to watch him for another 4 years. (also watching him skating is one of the only joys I have over the past years and now.)
  6. Never too late with that beautiful interpretation. You're basically connecting the Nijinsky references to the portrayal of a distant creator Shae/Yuzu wanted to convey and this is exactly what I need. Thanks!! I feel like I can actually understand more about this program now by looking at it this way. Hopefully, its also how Yuzu wanted to convey
  7. They really did. I actually like Carol's commentary. I remember she said "All of the skaters are good but he is something special" and of course her infamous line "There are good skaters and there are great skaters and there is Yuzuru Hanyu. Totally on a whole other level." And of course this weekend, she said what Max wrote on his twitter, "Maybe not just the best there is but the best there will be. He is just that good". Her and Tanith. They seem to have always believed he is the GOAT, even before he won his second gold.
  8. Not then lol I just thought after 4.5 yr that one pic i shared made you finally come to that conclusion
  9. got one here. hope you ace the research
  10. All in all, I'm fascinated by the fact that Yuzu broke 3 records at Helsinki with a 40 pt margin, landed 4T3A, highest TES AND PCs so far. But here we are debating about the praises from commentators and how the programs are still not there yet lol The standard for Yuzu is sure different and fanyus are surely special
  11. lol so true. we need a top 10 moments Yuzu sold his soul to the devil for his skating talent. that moment when he took off his earphones and smirked tho i got chills
  12. Yeah Seimei was more like fierce but of that kind of a protagonist. He was so dark at Helsinki its like he wanted to eat my soul
  13. hmm just in case my previous hidden comment was misunderstood, I want to clarify that I didnt mean to say Yuzu's portrayal of a creator as being a the God of judaism or christianity. As far as I know, its totally not. The only reason that was brought up was to simply say due to my own religion, I dont like seeing anything else being depicted as a god, any kind of god. Yuzu totally has the freedom to portray anything he wants. It doesnt mean I would enjoy it all but its up to him. Also, I'm Asian and have grown up to watching asian mythical dramas all my life, so this asian mythodology is not at all unfamiliar to me. It has nothing to do with how Yuzu believes in it and how he portrays his image. But even with the way he is trying to convey this idea of creation/a creator, the problem has to do with the expressions he pulled at Helsinki..a bit scary and on top of that, the styling of the costumes and everything, which was meant to pay tribute to Nijinsky, all combined turned out to look quite demonic, not necessarily satanic or anything. Just the power given off is dark. I didnt see it in ACI so I believe it is due to the expressions. If thats the kind of creator he is going for -- cold, distant, and hostile, then maybe he's doing a good job. But if not, my bet is due to concentration or kuyashii. Yuzu had said before that when he was performing Seimei at PC, he shouldnt have shown the joy in the final choreo sequence but he couldnt help it. Maybe its the same here?
  14. No, I agree that this program doesnt showcase one strong theme yet. On top of that, we have difficult elements that Yuzu needed to conquer so all the in betweens are further sacrificed. I think maybe there are just too many things that are thrown in the mix here. I think originally, he wanted to just use the music of the program he was inspired as a young child. He wanted to go back to the way he used to feel about skating and thats what the title all about. But because it is also seen as a tribute, he wanted to incorporate some of Nijinsky concepts in it. Its funny because Nijinsky is a tribute to Nijinsky but Origin is a tribute to tribute to Nijinsky. So we're playing telephone here. On top of that, Shae has her own interpretation about what Origin should be about going by the title meaning. I dont think it will change and I agree that unless they throw out Nijinsky (the ballet dancer movements) entirely, we have somewhat a disconnect. His expressions/image would have been more suitable if he's trying to depict a villain, I agree and sorry if I offended anyone by saying this. It's just how I felt when watching him performed at Helsinki but I think it could have been the demeanor when he was there. Even Kurt had mentioned it. I really didnt see this at ACI where his expressions were more toned down and simply showed power and will as a creator.
  15. One thing that makes Yuzu a special person/skater is that he has great foundation and builds upon it over the year. He strives to perfect himself and be the best version of himself. He doesn't take shortcut and doesn't allow himself to. It doesn't matter whether he won or he scored well, as long as he feels that's not enough, he will keep on challenging himself. Who else can you say about that? He
  16. Okay, if we're going for the what ifs, then we have to apply it both ways. What if Yuzu never suffered an injury? What if he skated clean in both programs? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but at Worlds, Nathen skated both programs clean with 6 quads landed, right? and he received a total score of 321.40. This didn't even pass Yuzuru's total score at NHK Grand Prix Series, which he skated clean but wasn't at his GPF level. Given that both Nathan and Yuzuru had skated at max potential, so a perfect Nathan would have probably be around 320+ (overscored in PCs) while Yuzu would have be around 330-340 points (anything less would have been a scandal). Yuzu's layout for the free program has a higher based value than his free during GPF with 4 quads, 2 of them in combos, planned. So there's no way he wouldn't have gone over 330 total combination.
  17. New themes are so gorgeous!!! Very calming to the eyes too
  18. I agree. That song stuck in my head now thanks to his program. Since Im not too technical as a viewer yet, my preference for someone's skating is based highly on their skating style and interpretation of the music. I love his swagger in here. So much attitude and it def reminds me of PW Yuzu a bit. He really improved so much. I wonder if Yuzu had inspired him. In the past he was just a jumper to me but now I can def see him going further. I will be looking forward to him in the future. I would say this is better than Nathan's Nemesis, which is Nathan's best to date, and Shoma's Stairway to heaven, which I think his is best too. I rarely like Shoma's programs
  19. I have to say I really like Boyang's short program. If he skates clean I wonder what score he would get. I actually think he has the best short program this season aside from Yuzu's of course. But its also his best program to date for me. So for you guys what are your favorite short program from each top contenders: Nathan, Boyang, and Shoma? And which one do you like the most?
  20. Now every time they introduce Yuzu, they would mention Dick Button lol
  21. I think other coverages like NBC too but I'm a little lazy to find the links for now
  22. Sorry, what I meant was they're saying it as though other than Yuzu and Dick Button, no one else did.
  23. hey guys, quick random question. How come the commentators always say the only man ever repeated back to back gold for Olympic is Dick Button? Didn't Gillis Grafström have 3 and Karl Schäfer also have 2?
