Shows us a sportsmanship side of the sport

Yuzu and Brian are srrly coach-student relationship goals. I love their father-son relationship. Brian once said he has the best job in the world and Im sure he does. I mean every parent in Japan must want their child to grow up like Yuzuru Hanyu and tbh, there was a time I wish I could adopt a child and raise him or her like Yuzu...and then I know thats a wrong thought and lets not go there lol back to my point. Then there is Brian, who may not have a child but has coached many olympic champions in his life. And Yuzu, who is now only living with his mother, gets that indirect father figure from Brian. Btw, I just watched Johnny and Tara's video about Yuzu's comeback. Johnny was almost tearing up when he said he cant believe someone like Yuzu would think of little old him. awww

I love that fans have different opinions and interpretations about Yuzu's programs and are not just robots that love everything or antis who hate everything about him. That SE is definitely something that gives me as much mixed feeling as the program as a whole; I love it but I think it could be better. I did take a look at the practice video of Otonal on media day and yeah it did look better with more upper body movements. I actually think the reason why it hasnt worked 100% for me is because there were a lot of sliding around in circle in front of the panel back and forth during the first like 30 seconds. It could be a strategy to contrast the footwork sequence. Let's wait to see how much improvement it gets at Helsinki.

I just want two clean skates first from him. The rest is just cherry on top

Watched Origin for the nth time. I have to say this has got to be one of his best "work-in progress' programs. Despite two popped combos and the lack of energy, the program still packed with watchable parts like Seimei. It also has the intensity and drama of R&J 1.0. I'm like always on the edge of my seat from the first second to the very end. It's super different from H&L, which you just get lost into the program and forget about the competition. I guess I better save up to go watch him live one day haha On another note, I know many people complained that he didn't go for something new, but I don't know why I just find Origin still a uniquely Yuzuru program with his finger prints all over it. Aside from having similar musics, I don't see any Nijinsky in it. I'm so glad I'd never watched Nijinsky before Yuzu's announcement of Origin. But even if I did, I can definitely say that they are two entirely different programs with their own flavor.

I love Haru Yo Koi and I still like the costume...yes even with that chesthair image..But he's been sporting the melodic exh for several seasons straight now. I want rockstar Yuzu for a change...not the vertigo hip roll tho please thank you very much

OMGOSH I will never forgive you. I cannot unsee this. And thats a very weird place to grow hair. like from your rib cage to up to your right boob and stopped there. he needs his boobskirt to cover those babies up

Random but I sorts hope he can bring back his a combo with 3 jumps. Like that 4T-3T calls for another jump at the end..Maybe 4T3T2T? and I think it'd be really cool to watch

General Skating Chat
makebelieveup replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
hey guys, i was referred to this thread for my questions. I'm just having a hard time understanding how the goe is calculated looking at the protocols. So I understand its based on percentage of the base value i.e +1 means 10% of base value. But what if its an avg among the 9 judges? or do we drop the highest and lowest scores and average by 7? Even so, how would an average of say +2.33 translate into goe score? Also, regarding edge and UR calls, does anyone know how many judges need to call it to "make it official"?- 6,825 replies

yeah but if he will really Nessie, I hope he will do it early. GP series will be less costly to bomb it. *shivers at the thought we will see it an attempt at his practice
-
lollll also seems like less quads from the young guys. I wonder whether Yuzu will change his layout

Yuzu serving creepy clown vibe as he's holding up a harmless number that literally sends chills down my spine lol jk btw, the OP's drawings are so adorable, simple yet capture his impression perfectly. *squishes

Ohhh I see what you mean now. Call me a fail fan but I didn't even recall the lunge in Origin until you mentioned it and I had to just go and rewatch it now to find it. Yeah, totally see what you mean there

the speed of this thread lol cant catch up esp at work I do agree with what everyone said about how Yuzu tends to incorporate his sig moves to almost all of his programs. I do think they feature his versatility as an artist and they make the programs seem HIS. I know it's funny to say they're his since those are all the sig moves he pays tribute to, but I find Yuzu to be the type who is always curious and wants to make them more stand out by putting meaning to them. He is like both a jack of all trade and master of all. But I agree that having those moves all or many of these sig moves from one program after another can be predictable. Thats why I sorta mourn when I know the hydroblade is now in his SP since I had enough of them always being in his Free and Exhs. the side lunge in Seimei tho, if I'm referring to it correctly, is totally suitable to me personally. I actually think the duration of how long the move holds make a difference in expressing the move. For example, in PW, he held it really long across the ice during that high guitar note and his hand gestures made him a total rock star. In Seimei, like @Figure_Frenzy described, held for a fraction of a sec to match the drum beat and I find it expressed the image of the onmyouji doing some kind of martial art or ritual dance.

I also like his ina baur in RJ 2.0 since the move was perfect to the music. I like his hydroblade in Notte Stellata and H&L. I didn't think the ina baur and hydroblade were that necessary for Origin and Otonal, respectively. Yeah, I notice that too haha He tends to use words like "rock star" and "cool" to describe Yuzu in more upbeat programs like PW or LGC. I think he appreciates Chopin and Seimei, though, since he usually commented that Yuzu is the only skater who could balance both the artistry and athleticism for those programs. But yeah, he def sounds a lot less excited at more mellow/quiet programs and would divert his attention more toward Yuzu's popularity rather than the program itself

i guess then if he is keeping his 4S, the 4A wont happen in the sp then.
