He fought 2013/2014 with PW2.0 and R&J2.0, one of them made him break WR for the first time and one of them shared a theme with another program he could really relate to. So I was not so surprised his choice this year. Ballad No.1 was a program he really loved, and it made him break his own record, too. I understand the disappointment because I was a bit disappointed in 2013. I wanted to see him skating to as many music as possible while he was competing, and I was not a fan of the wailing guitar. But as the season went on PW became even more polished and in the end brought him OGM. However, this year he will not bring back the Ballad No.1 in 2015/2016. Although the music and the basic choreo will be the same, he will change the layout. It will give him comfort and challenge at the same time, and I think this combination will give him the motivation to improve himself and freedom to express himself. I think we will see another beautiful Ballad No.1. I don’t care what judges will think. They’ll do whatever they want. In the tough season going into Olympic what matters most is to have two programs which feel right, which you can trust.

While I was struggling to explain it in English, SparkleSalad and KatjaThera have already done it quite well To add some trivia, Kouhaku means Red (紅=kou) and white (白=haku). Judges are selected from people who have done some prominent works in the year, including Olympic champions and NHK Trophy champions. Yuzu was said to be invited as a judge in 2014, but probably could not participate due to illness. In 2015 one of his favorite band “Bump of chicken” also participated in the show representing team white, and he looked so happy when their name was announced.

I think Yuzuru was happy and honored to receive the tune from Ms. Tarasova. He committed himself to making this program with the deepest respect for her. I saw Yuzuru and David working on this program, and it was magical. The beautiful thing about this program is that it emphasizes Yuzu’s skating skill more than his jumping skill. What I love most in this program is the delayed axel. It’s a jump which was popular in the past. It reminds me of skaters like Robin Cousins, Jozef Sabovčík, and myself :)))

Seems like Hyoen was an event related to Tokyo2020, which shows Japanese culture in collaboration with sports. According to this site an English sub-ed version of this show will be aired in the future.

Thank you so much, Altie! Especially in this part I can understand what he says here more clearly with your corrections. Stéphane has been a great teacher for many Japanese skaters. Most of them gained confidence after taking his lessons and became stronger skaters. I still want to see him as a skater but also hope he will succeed as a coach, too.
