  1. FaOI NIigata featured in an evening news show aired in Niigata today (but no information as to whether Haru yo Koi is Yuzu's new EX or not)
  2. Miu Suzaki and Ryuichi Kihara are going to skip Dreams on Ice 2018.
  3. Usually, we don't call an ice show an exhibition. Ice show is ice show (aisu-sho), and exhibition is ekishibishon. So I guess it's more about communication than interpretation. Either the announcer or the subtitle is wrong. Seems like a local news show covers FaOI NIigata, so hopefully we can get confirmation today or sometime in near future.
  4. Seems like Fantasy on Ice 2018 Official Photo Book will be released on Sep. 6th.
  5. It's an excerpt from news footage regarding NHK Trophy Special Exhibition held in 2016.
  6. I'd love to hear him singing a little more.
  7. If they meant to say "I'm in Saint Petersburg and practicing figure skating", then yes, their Japanese is good! Tadashii desu! Aww they sound so cute...
  8. I've only seen the first one but it is very beautiful! Although I don't understand Chinese, the strings of Chinese characters evoke beautiful images and emotions. The video makes me wonder if Haru yo Koi (program) has anything reminds us of White Legend since White Legend and Notte Stellata share the theme and some movements.
  9. Thank you for sharing! It really is beautiful. 晴明 can also be read Haru Akira, so I understand the idea of using the song for a tribute to Seimei. A little bit off-topic but Onmyoji, the novel these movies are based on, has many episodes regarding Spring and cherry blossoms and they are all very beautiful. I sometimes wonder if Yuzu has read such episodes.
  10. Javi is going to appear on another Japanese TV show on June 23rd. Seems like he'll skate for children learning figure skating...
  11. Tatsuki Machida has announced that he will conclude his career as a professional figure skater with his performances in Japan Open and Carnival on Ice which will be held in this October to focus on his study. He is going to skate new programs in each event and hoping to see his fans there. http://tatsuki-machida.com/news/index.html#20180615_coi ETA: Sorry for double post!
  12. It's Yuzu during a press conference before NHK Trophy 2014. He was calling in other members of team Japan for a photoshoot. Could have been inspired by this (not sure)
  13. Wakaba's in Detroit to get her FS choreographed by Yuka Sato.
  14. According to this article, Rika Kihira's FS was choreographed by Tom Dickson and David Wilson will choreograph her SP.
  15. Some of you might have already heard on twitter or youtube, but Dice Murakami announced his retirement yesterday on his youtube channel. Following is a rough summary of his words (Hope he will make an announcement later in English for international fans too…): He is staying at his host family's house in Toronto now and filmed the video there. He said he wanted to reveal his decision not via media but with his own words. He thought because he is an athlete belonging to team Japan, making an announcement via media would make things complicated. (Or he meant that making an announcement via media is a complicated process?) He said it was a tough decision, however, considering if he would be able to go on for another four years, he thought it difficult. He said that although there were many unhappy moments in last 17 years as a competitive skater, he has had a lot of great experiences. He thanked his mother, Frank Carroll, Lori Nichol, JFS, IMG, his sponsor, and every other who supported him all through the years. He has some plans for his future and wants to give back to the sport he loves in one way or another. He wishes team Japan members good luck and good health. Seems like he will continue updating his youtube channel, so we'll see what he will do next via this channel. Apparently, it took a lot of strength for him to make this decision and announcement I'll miss him but wish him best of luck in his future endeavors. ダイスがんばって!
  16. Not sure This person says it was a test he/she took in "English Expression" class.
  17. I had a bit similar experience about Patrick too. I saw an ice show for the first time in 2012 in which all the men's medalists in Nice participated. After I saw Patrick's performance I kind of got why his score was so high, but in my case, it wasn't his charisma, but the way he skated. This was probably the program he skated in the show. It didn't have many difficult jumps but the footwork looked so busy and intricated. He was on deep edges all through the program. To me, he looked almost like a crescent flipping across the ice with tremendous speed. No one else was skating like that. I didn't fell in love his program but I realized that there were things I missed on TV. The speed was one thing that didn't come through much on TV, and the quality and the difficulty of non-jump elements of FS was a bit hard to appreciate for someone without experience in skating like me. So I guessed that there were things I needed to learn before judging him as overscored. I felt similar about Takahiko Kozuka and Carolina Kostner who were in the same show. I wasn't a fan of both, but seeing them live made me think that the movements I found a bit boring on TV (such as spread eagle and spiral) in fact might require good skating skills and body control. Although I went there mainly to see Yuzu for the first time, (Yuzu was gorgeous even when he was performing Hello, I love you for the first time a bit awkwardly. He had great speed, flow, and beautiful jumps) who left the biggest impact on me that day were these three skaters known for their skating skills. They let me know that there was more to this sport. Although I don't like some of the things he said about Yuzu in the past, I basically like his skating and I think there are good reasons for him to take pride in what he has been doing.
  18. (seems like the not-so-angry off-topic sign is gone...) An English test which arouses students' suspicion Try! Express the following in English. (1)その少年は有名なスケート選手になりました。(The boy has become a famous figure skater.) (2)多くの人が彼にすてきなプレゼントをあげました。(Many people gave him nice gifts.) (3)私たちは彼を「ユヅ」と呼んでいます。(We call him "Yuzu")
  19. The images are taken from this Ghana CM filmed and aired during 2014-2015 season. Yes, he is on the ice.
  20. The city of Sendai is celebrating Yuzu for the People's Honor Award putting a signboard on the entrance of the city hall https://photo.kahoku.co.jp/graph/2018/06/06/01_20180606_13044/001.html
