  1. It's just a month between the two, too. We'll see, I suppose, I hope WD won't all be last-minute. And I don't want to see any of the walking wounded skating at Worlds. There's just been enough sacrifices for this year. Let them all heal and let those who're fit fight for Worlds. Wakaba looked good at that challenge cup. Bounced back from the Nationals disappointment. They'll need the three spots. Rika Kihira is turning senior next season, isn't she? I'm not ready for all the heartbreak, give the ladies three spots. ETA: Marin, though.
  2. Might depend on how many Olympians turn up at Worlds, I think. Quite a few skaters were skating injured at the Olympics. (Boyang - really recovered? Nathan - actually injured or more PR stuff? Dima - got hurt? Mikhail - head is very hurt? Javi - not going?) Mura/Keiji might place okay. For ladies, we don't know about Carolina's or Kaetlyn's plans, do we? Alina will probably go, I suppose, but Zhenya has tendonitis and might not be recovered in time. Wakaba's PCS is still in the dumps, though. Made me cry a little.
  3. I want a nice, long video of Brian talking about his students. Is there such a clip? Yuzu, Yuna, Javi, maybe Junhwan (I am really watching out for him after that free skate which was far more musical and fluid than I expected), even Gabby and Lilbet. I'd love to watch it. Internet is already paid up for six months, it's good to have things to do that won't cost money because I see myself giving amazon jp a lot of business now.
  4. That moment of realisation when it dawns on me that for all her delicate beauty, Satton could probably kick my ass at any kind of combat.
  5. I liked Wakababy's old SP dress better. This reminds me of flags. She looks incredible, though. She'd look incredible in a potato sack, for that matter.
  6. Ïs that the video where there's a short summary in the general skating thread? It's not comprehensive, but it explains what they're saying in certain parts.
  7. The person must feel like a right numpty now when he thinks of what he could've got if he'd hung on to it and put it up on eBay.
  8. A very important message for our collective sanity, please, please may skaters and their teams be listening.
  9. Nobody is actually doing anything of the sort. Pointing out that he said something about something that possibly has its roots in racial biases is not like saying he said the sport is racist. But he has kept his own views about many things to himself, and he has guarded many parts of his privacy very fiercely, so we cannot in fact say he has not been political in his views. Maybe he is. Maybe he's not. Saying he is not, definitively, is as bad as saying he is, definitively. He is the Olympic champion who used a rather tangentially connected question (he wasn't actually asked about Seimei) to give his views about why he used that particular piece of music as, in part, a vehicle to show that certain perceptions regarding Asian figure skaters are not true. That much is definitely a fact. Apart from that, let's not declare what he meant, or what he definitely did not mean, either.
  10. This was at the foreign correspondents' presscon, right? Because I watched that, and if what the translator there said was correct, I'm not sure how you can be so sure that he didn't mean race at all? According to that translator, he mentioned the perception of artistry and expression of Asian skaters as opposed to Europeans. He made it a point to include more than only Japan in that, and Asia has many different cultures with many different cultural perceptions from the outside. He might not have meant it as racial bias, he might have meant it as only cultural bias, but unless the translator was way off base, there was nothing there from which one could declare, with complete clarity and certainty, that he definitely did not mean anything to do with racial bas. It might have been a part of the whole. Like kaerb said, this might not be the place for the discussion, but you seem very certain of what he meant, so did the translator miss something?
  11. Max. Staaaahp. I can't believe I'm saying this, but Max, please go back to making us fret over Nessie and how he's landed enough to give them an actual success percentage.
  12. Well, would you look at Brian with all of that hair. I feel like every time we say 4A, another hair falls out of his head. It must be delightful and incredibly stressful to coach Yuzu. I wonder if Brian's coach lost hair when Brian started doing 4T for fun...
  13. I'll just lurk menacingly in the background until street fighting rules - that is, lack thereof - apply.
  14. His training techniques. I wonder what his notes are really like. "Didn't shuuuu enough today, Tracy seems to want me to do more Paaah. We had new skaters go tontonton." He'd be fun, explaining all of that to young kids.
  15. Anyway, this is just a suggestion, but I would very much appreciate it if we could keep the general thread free of retirement and handing over mantle and who will come next kind of talk for a while longer? Maybe it could go on a new thread. I'd very much like to enjoy the second OGM and the incredible achievement it is, and be happy for Yuzu (and worry about him) for a while longer before we move on to rather gloomy speculation like that. It's been a rollercoaster, and we're still getting our feet under us. Let's chill for a while before we get on another one.
  16. Don't write Polina off yet, she could still come back strong! Her delayed rotation lutz... *sigh* There're a couple of other Japanese juniors landing 3A, too. Though Rika and her 3A-3T, with good programmes, she's going to be amazing. And Wakababy is still a baby, and Mai is only 18 so she's got a few more years at her peak. And Yuzu fans will gravitate to Yuzu fanboys, and let's not forget Shun Sato, yes? All of them would appeal a lot more to those who love Yuzu and his signature style. Not to mention that Yuzu's efforts against Boyang erasure will make sure Boyang and his improved skating skills will be admired by Fanyus. I don't think we have to stretch as far as Alina's musicality (I'm sure it exists, just haven't seen it so far because she's over-choreographed) to keep interest in figure skating alive.
  17. Check in the competition compilation thread? It's probably there.
  18. I hope they announce his WD soon. But from the sounds of things, he knew he couldn't do Nationals and probably team event, so he must've let JSF know that sooner than we knew about it. I don't think he's supposed to make such announcements personally, he has to leave it to the fed, so he lets them know and they decide how to time it to get the most out of people's hope that he'll participate. I attribute any cynicism in timing to feds, not him.
  19. I was a jump rope failure, I ended up using my jump rope to climb difficult trees. But yes, I suppose he did get the point across - like, you can't even comprehend how hard they are, people.
  20. My brain is stressed and traumatised and apparently likes it because it refuses to reject that memory.
  21. Yes, saving his ankle was a real priority when he was doing 4-3-2 and axels for fun.
  22. I see that as manifestation of kuyashii. He was happy to go LGC at the gala. I do want a fun short programme, though, whatever it is. Chopin is gorgeous, Seimei is fierce, but they're both so serious. No room for silly faces.
  23. Oh, wouldn't you be happy with a new free skate and LGC again? I would be. Less for him to learn, more time for rehab.
