When our ranks begin to form Do I stay and do I dare? Will you take your place with me? The time is now, the day is here One day more One day more to ... the WEEKEND! (it's Yuzuru. Totally not OT!)

If he does, that means Yale will be making major concessions for him. It's just not possible otherwise, not with Yale and not with his major. Someone who attended Yale explained quite well when Nathan enrolled what it actually means and he is so going to need help.

@SparkleSalad @WinForPooh I was having coffee while I read that. I forgot the Fifth rule of Hanyu Club: Never drink coffee while reading PH @asiacheetah Both. Yes he can meet up with Nathan and Shoma, and Kolyada prior to the GPF. Those 3 cannot meet up with each other but chances are he will go against at least one of them during the GPs. Probably Nathan or Shoma.

She doesn't, she's not mature enough for POTO, not even close. I think they're not really thinking about that but more going for the 'big' music. Daniil has had some good programs though, and he is especially fond of Alina it seems, so maybe he'll do something decent with it anyway. Nothing to do but wish her luck and hopefully the FS will be better. -
I think we'd probably end up relying on social pressure to keep most coaches/parents in line but it'd be very hard to officially enforce. There is a degree of responsibility that belongs to that side too, it is not all on ISU. There will still be those who go for it though, there always are. I somehow feel more relaxed in these situations when we're talking adults; quads can be risky but you want to anyway, knowing that? Your call. I think we've always had that and always will and fine, you're an adult, you chose it. But with kids, especially those really young, there would have to be more care.
-
Regardless of age? So say 12 is fine? But why have the limits been raised, in for example gymnastics, and why do we in general have limits? We cannot just allow very young children into certain situations. For one, there is the mental pressure that they are in no way able to handle (just remember all the talk about how awful it was on Alina, and she was around 16 by then? or already 16). We cannot allow kids at that age to be put into those or similar situations. Second is something I agree with, I've quoted below: The sacrifices are massive, no doubt. I think that the potential physical issues are the real question here but considering that the motives of some of these folks aren't too clear, nothing much will come out of it I'd bet. We also don't know quite yet just what is the influence of quads on bodies of 12 yos, we'll see in a few years earliest (much like we had for the -3Lo previously) so I think that proponents of quads in, essentially, kids will be able to hold this off until we get actual evidence of issues. And want to bet that even if that happens, and some data about harm starts showing up, it'd still be dodgy and nothing will probably change? Eh.

We thought a separate thread for the discussion seems prudent. There's after all a lot to talk about, not just in re to one skater but also it frees up the other thread(s) a bit

I really wouldn't mind if they gave her something 'softer' to skate to, as she is so young, and alas a fun program seems quite unlikely. So at least something gentle. -

Anything Joe Hisaishi? He's so famous that there is a tonne to choose from. Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke OSTs, things like that would pop up for him right away. -

POTO for Alina! Drink? -
Jason has an injured ankle but his SP is ready, or almost there. I guess that means he is probably sticking to Rohene, to my everlasting sorrow. I guess we'll see about the FS. No word on the coach.

Is this the only CM about it? For all we know, there were others before this one, featuring the other skaters and now, since he's added, he is prominently featured in this one. I think it's just fine, they'd never neglect peeps.
-
It's an article about should the minimum age for seniors be raised, with several peeps chiming in. Quoting just a few, the full article can be found here: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/2018/04/30/274122364 Thoughts? I'm curious because I think a lot of this is connected to the ladies but I do think it should be related to boys too and no matter what Brian says here, he has Gogo who is 12 and doing quads. Raf of course had Nathan, and we know how that went for him and who knows how it'll pan out. Overall, doesn't seem likely just yet but it's a good article!

Proposed changes for next season
Yatagarasu replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
And here we go! Headache x 10 https://www.isu.org/communications/17037-isu-communication-2156/file Proposed changes that will be discussed at the Congress. IDEK where to start with this mess tbh. I think my fave idiocy so far is compulsory steps before solo jumps in SP removed because they are already counted in GOE so it's "controversial" to count steps as a requirement. -
A satellite is never late, nor are they early; they arrive precisely when they mean to!

Well, he has greater sins, alas x_x And no, not to my knowledge. I mean I'm sure there are issues like this around, perhaps in the past even more so, but definitely not normal! Poor Javier.

Happy birthday to the Planet! Thank you everyone for joining, and sticking around with, us and though we have died a thousand deaths in this past year, we have also perfected the zombification process so we're rolling on. Here's to many years to come!!
