  1. I doubt very much the Olympics channel tweeted about it due to 'shipping'. It is the idea that someone who is a two time Worlds, Euros and GPF champion and has just had a very successful Olympics where she got the OSM (plus team OSM) is suddenly going to start training in the same place where the two time, back to back, OGM is training (insert everything else ofc). Not everything is about shipping. Here it is more about two such huge champions congregating into one place, the place that is known for having trained Yuna too. It actually is pretty formidable, not even going to lie because depending how the dice roll, The Cricket Club will end up with not just the male champion but one of the top ladies, if not both the male and the female champion (who btw brings with her the knowledge of her previous school). This is why Brian's choice to say yes is quite understandable on some level. It's risky but the benefits... this is frankly media gold. I hope it turns into TCC gold too, and it just might cement the club's status as they need just this much, a strong lady to push it over.
  2. It's pretty much a certainty which is why they did it. They do like to capitalize on Yuzuru but at the same time, they're not stupid either; they know it's happening. And well, it is big news. It'll settle down after a while but expect at this time that press will like the association. It's how media functions.
  3. @cirelle yes, she does but she won't use that; there are other things to bargain with. She won't change countries, she's way too proud to be Russian. And go Tukt! I am so glad she's getting support from the right people; she's going to need it!
  4. Please do, it's most fun! Which the whole 15 pages we managed to churn out can prove!
  5. I don't know about Eteri but I feel like this was us.
  6. Want another rumor? Tsurskaya to Buyanova!
  7. As far as I know, she's paying for it by herself but it'll be fine. She had some very, very nice deals lately.
  8. It must have been a nightmare during the time she was injured. I think usually, it is all right. All the girls are used to it as they're mixed together so they know each other. But while she was injured, with Trusova doing quads, and Alina doing lz-lo, etc and she was going down on regular steps, that must have been very very hard. I don't agree with the idea (not yours, but in general) she needed these around her to be motivated. An OGM is the greatest motivation there is and it was right.there. for her and then it started slipping away. That documentary was brutal, brutal to watch. It would be killing her spirit. So I think at the time, Eteri should have separated them. But well.
  9. ID guys, who were they with? I've got everything smushed tbh by now
  10. Oh now talk about a blast from the past but you're so very right. This, like that was a 1-2 - knock out! I've often actually moaned privately about the way some skaters were managed (for example, the new manager Jason acquired made me sigh) but this is fantastic. I think I'm going to make tea
  11. Nah, it's true. This is how you do things. Match TV actually mentioned Orser, and only Orser, as a possible place too. Zhenya's agent is gold. Gold.
  12. Yata is living her best life (I am so sorry but the way this was done is tickling my funny bone something awful so you're going to have to bear with me for just a bit)
  13. Right? Right?! I cannot stop laughing.
  14. She caught them all totally unprepared. A big, fat bonus indeed (I am so sorry but I'm living my best life here. Now go the distance Zhenya)
  15. Depends how it goes I guess. She has everything on her side. She spills, thing go nuclear as you know, so if she wants them to back off she dangles the word - amicable - in front of their faces. Then they'll have to see if it is worth it to them to simply let her go for it. You know what I think about that one, if I were them, I'd grab it with both hands and say yes please. Amicable split. She goes where she wants to. Everyone gets to continue in their happy place.
  16. Laishev said the same thing when Yulia left. He said the same thing when Sima left. That the news appeared on Match, means RusFed isn't in control of the information leak. Zhenya Medvedeva is. Good girl. Good good girl. Give your agent a big, fat bonus. I'd wait to see what she says about where she is going.
  17. He he he. Surprise! Good, good. I thought we'd have to wait longer. @Fay woo! Now the other part
  18. Oh! That yes, yes Someone overheard him during the US nationals that he was done and post Olympics makes sense. No more fedora by the side of the rink.
  19. Jason? Actually that was sort of vague. The season before so 2016/17 he was asked and said he wouldn't retire but then after that IIRC he wasn't that clear about it all. I do wonder what'll happen with him. He's working on his SP now so he is competing ... but who is the coach? Still not settled which is a bit odd. He did go to Frank for jumps but I guess it's out of the question now that he'd take him on full time. He's definitely shopping around only in the US.
  20. Didn't Baiul accuse Zmievskaya of fraud? Anyway, I don't think she's had any big names recently? Johnny was the last one if I remember well, and before that, think Lambiel was with her around 2008 before that injury? It's probably a question of going to those who have had some recent successes. But take Jason for example. Leaving Kori has been something his fans have talked about for a good while due to his jumps, and she was enough of a name that Laurine jumped over there and things went bust. So I would assume peeps are careful. One name we forgot is Frank but though I haven't heard anything officially, I do assume he's retiring, at least from full time coaching.
  21. One of the reasons on why I am not sold on the transfer is who does she go to? I mean the solution would probably end up being a compromise anyway, with benefits outweighing the cons. Also I wouldn't be too sure about her PCS. What with the new rules reset that's probably coming up, I think she'll be fine next season as the Fed simply needs her for those three spots but after that who knows. They can easily go down too, would hardly be the first time. Mao had a 'fab' time with her own PCS after all.
  22. To keep this one clean, if anyone wants to talk about potential, and actual, coaching changes of skaters, we have a separate place now! I've moved the current posts there too about the topic but in the future, we will use it for all of them!
  23. I have wished that many, many times. Sigh indeed. Unfortunately it's her health and she dropped even choreographing. I think Plushenko isn't truly into this idea of coaching, not yet as he seems to be flying all over the place, is booked to mid 2019 and you cannot coach with that kind of split attention. Of course, obligations, money to be earned but ... anyway, he'd be big enough to back her but don't think so. I don't think any lesser known coach would work for someone like Zhenya as her situation is peculiar. It would probably have to be a big name. She is going to require a major coaching force behind her back to politic for her, what with everything now, never mind in the future, and no smaller name can do that. It's really Ravi/Marina/Brian and probably Raf/Tom Z on the USA side that are in play. The trouble with those is that Ravi has Osmond of all people, so SC would probably have a fit, and we've mentioned Raf. So that leaves us with Marina/Brian/Tom Z I suppose which is why I can easily see peeps zooming in on Brian then. There's Lambiel in Europe but even with Deniss, he has a lot of work ahead of him to get himself properly established as a full coaching name.
  24. Can you please not insult Zhenya's fans, thank you. The Russian Figure skating fandom has been talking about this for a good while. There are rumors and there are 'rumors'. The injury rumors were around for a long time before they admitted it. The current events about Zhenya have been bubbling up since late April and they're not your run-of-the-mill nonsense that pops up every now and then, like the idiocy that was Zhenya is switching countries. Now it's very simple, by May 21st due to how it all works in Russia and the window for transfers, everything will be sorted out. No, there are no recent denials by Zhenya herself, everything is old. None of this means that the transfer out is going to happen and there is no certainty in these rumors about that; if something did occur between her and the team then it can be sorted out. It's normal, people clash and then sort of out their differences. On the other hand, switching coaches is also perfectly normal, even when the skater and the team get along splendidly but the skater outgrows the coach and moves on. Now, why are Boyang fans so 'obsessed' with Boyang going to TCC? You even slotted him in there when there is literally no official decision of Boyang joining TCC, even for a summer stay. Orzel is not a full time TCC member, that was false info at the start. In other words, neither group is 'obsessed' with anything (and you can put Wakaba fans in this basket as they were thrilled by rumors about her transfer there) but they all see a potential opportunity for the betterment of their favorite. If TCC said yes if she had asked, that's a done deal and this idea that she will somehow 'trouble' Yuzuru is really out of line in regards to TCC and those who run it. Brian and Tracy have double interests here; yes, they will of course take into consideration the current members and their wishes, and here it is primarily Gabby actually but they will also take into considerations the interests of the club so they'd never allow a new member in if they don't think there is room for one and that it won't bother those already there as their club's reputation would suffer. Having said that, Zhenya to TCC is a fan-rumor. There is nothing concrete from all the talk about these events that points directly to TCC. It's easy to see why it was generated though. She has major jump issues, and she needs to deal with that plus unless she up her technical content she is going to be in major trouble come the 2019/2020 season. TCC isn't the only club that was mentioned, fans speculated about many options; Raf was also very popular but he's probably out of the picture what with Marin, Eun Soo, Mariah and Nathan who will in general require balancing now but it's easy to see how this could benefit her and he gets a lady in her prime. Anyway, if a lot of her fans want her there, there's a good case to be made that she would do well there and prosper but that is no different from Boyang or Wakaba fans who think the same about them joining TCC. There are also very good reasons why Medvedeva should potentially want to leave Eteri's (not talking about any rumors here). But when we look at Eteri and her history and her statements about older, mature skaters there is a very big question mark hanging over her head whether she is even willing, and most importantly, is she even able to handle fully Zhenya's situation. Tracy Wilson asked a long time ago, is the turn-over method really sustainable and IMO it is not. So, let us say Eteri has figured that one out, finally, and wants to try and make it work. I've seen a lot of fans say great! The only little problem here is why should Zhenya accept to be the guinea pig while Eteri 'learns'. If she can find someone else to accept her, who has had experience with skaters above 18 then it is far better to go there if she can. She has one life, one career and two seasons from now, just the fight for spots is going to be brutal. Anyway. It's perfectly normal to see many people excited about the possibility of her jumping ship, just as there are those who want her to stay. We'll see how any of this turns out, it won't be long now in either case and whether she stays or goes, it won't be easy for her. Not even a little bit. She's swimming against the tide here and I am pretty sure she knows that.
