  1. The thing is, it can seriously escalate too. Zhenya's statement is tomorrow. At this point, considering I didn't expect Eteri to do this, I am honestly afraid to say anything as who knows what she is going to say. But overall, I am hoping that she will pull the breaks, as much as possible, for the good of everyone. Sigh. But then I was totally wrong at the start so ...
  2. There is no way she didn't know. No way. We knew. Eteri's group was deleting Zhenya's links and banning fans for days from the official VK group. They knew. Now, maybe Zhenya did say that about Alina, that I have no idea, though I don't think Eteri should bring that stuff out into the public. But the not knowing is bs.
  3. I am pretty sure Brian couldn't care less. But this whole thing can spiral into a much larger mess than I originally thought and that's not good.
  4. Those SMS just show Zhenya wasn't replying, it actually doesn't prove that she didn't know. She's very authoritarian and could have just assumed Zhenya would return after whatever tiff they had passed.
  5. No, seriously, this is ... well. Depends what Zhenya's agent decides but if she goes for blood and she may very well decide to, this can turn so ugly. Bad, bad move. Sigh.
  6. I am just going to say, oh wow, dumb move. *sips tea*
  7. Where is @cirelle? I think we can expand this from Eteri is having a bit of a day to she's having a bit of a week.
  8. Have you seen Maldives?! We ( @liv ) can go with him. For ... mental support. (he can come to good old England any day. Though I'd advise to miss summer, way too many tourists)
  9. I was just coming to add the Moris bit But unlike Trusova, the Moris thing actually seems to have merit. Goodness. Three adults off to different places.
  10. If he shows up for summer camp, for sure! But at least we're not having a boring off season!
  11. We didn't actually get anything official, IIRC then there were pages and pages of conversation of what it could be, etc We'll know soon enough! Personally I don't think it's a long-term thing for multiple reasons but he'd benefit immensely even from a summer stint.
  12. Mhm. They have to be good enough, they have to fit in, plus even then, the larger the number of people in general, the more difficult to control no matter how good it may look in the beginning. I absolutely understand the benefits of a limited, tightly run environment. Of course it limits the number of students but it's the price they pay for being elite. ____ @WinForPooh no need, it happens to everyone, including us. We won't keel over due to one post
  13. Maldives! (I am joking but I would so pack him off on a vacation there)
  14. Why should they? They're an elite enviorment, and those are always limited and they usually work partially because they are limited.
  15. Because it is not so much that the space is limited, it is that time is. What I mean is, they have to be able to give enough attention to all the skaters, while keeping the quality of the work they do there. Javier is the one who left so we know there's at least that one space that can be filled but with the skaters already there (and two of those are advancing, especially Gogolev now who'll be turning Junior this season) it has to be limited. I don't think Brian will risk spreading himself too thin. He's always played it safe.
  16. Not only that but Orser news has been out for ages and everyone 's quiet about it too. @Huiqi about Wakaba, well it depends. We have no idea what the issue is. We're just sort of speculating it may be due to her high school but who knows. There's also still the open question of Boyang so if he too is going in full time, then I am afraid that yes, the door closes for her.
  17. She is leaving Eteri and going to Orser. The rest is just the remnants of the first Sambo statement that she is staying at Sambo itself, which is the exact same thing they said when Yulia and Sima left. She's out of there and off to Canada.
  18. Oh yes, all of this. I may be wrong, way too many things happened, but I believe Satoko herself may have actually said that it was due to over-training. It's the old belief that if you basically kill yourself at practice, you have worked well and it always, always surprises me when we encounter this with elite athletes because it has been ages since it has been proven beyond doubt that is false and harmful. Quality over quantity and you'll achieve better results (I have some friends who coach, some at high levels, not skating but still, and they say it is still a fight to get rid of this idea that quantity is better, at the lower levels but not so much at the top levels of sport). With Zhenya, there are quite a few questions. Why go to NHK? Should she have gone to Euros? Eeeeh. What ifs.
  19. The multiple RTs really are a big question mark. It isn't just that it definitely doesn't work with mature bodies, there is also the issue of how much wear and tear are the younger bodies being subjected to, so that once they reach a certain age, they are even more prone to injuries. Quantity does not mean quality, sports science proved this a long time ago but at the same time, I definitely see the logic of repetitions in the case of skating. There has to be a solution to how this is handled and maybe Eteri will find one. I am sure they can do it too, if they want to and see that a mature lady can be a successful skater and I hope that they don't find themselves up against the wall at some point (as it is bound to happen; nothing is infinite so at some point, the revolving door will stop by simple circumstances) and that they choose to do so on their own. Hopefully now. There is still time for Alina. She's 16 I believe so Eteri has a year or so to try and adjust. But right? New programs, bless. I've wanted that for ages Honestly? I haven't a clue! Too early for sure, especially because of the new rules. We still don't have a good idea about where any of that is going. In a year we'll probably have a better picture of both them, but also of the application and how that is going. Her 3A is a big question too, she says she wants to work on that now, so again, this coming season should help. I suppose, in general, if she switches next off season that is 2 full seasons before the Olympic one so there is time.
  20. Yes, she does, she is going to graduate high school this season so who knows, it may happen at that point. I mean usually it'd be ideal to switch for a full quad but there is no doubt she's awfully young. Maybe nobody can go with her either, it happens. I think the bold is pretty much exactly it. It's an overall issue of Eteri's group, it is not just Zhenya who is the issue. She does good work with the younger skaters but at this point, seems either unwilling or not ready to change her methods for those who are aging out of early-mid teens. It is actually possible this turns out to be a wake-up call for her, especially as she has some mighty fine skaters almost ready to switch, and who would want to lose Kosto, Sasha etc? So who knows, she may start putting things in place to be ready by the time it happens and this turns out beneficial for everyone. And yes, good girl indeed. I think Zhenya really does love skating and performing and wants to last. Fight for that girl.
  21. Oh I just saw that Kolyada news is out in the open finally, good As @Fay said, Nathan is actually with Raf this summer so they'll be there together. I wonder if that is a part of it, he can check out some of that in person. Anyway, I am not sure how that'll work out but it is definitely because of the jumps, the Lz primarily, I'm sure. Hm, hm, considering Misha's overall technique I am not sure what else Raf can poke, unless they have him working on a new quad too which I am not too enthused about.
  22. Zhenya Medvedeva is going to Orser. I really don't see what the confusion is about? Anyway, this is not going to affect Yuzuru, why would it? Can we please not start being those fans? It's sort of not pretty. Raf is right, she and Brian have a tough road ahead, though she is way ahead of Yulia, who really was in an awful place when all of that happened with Eteri and Zhenya herself is in a better one as a skater. She'll be working her tushy off to get herself into a position where she can still have a career a year from now. Yuzuru does his thing. TCC is a serious club that knows how to organize their athletes and is perfectly capable of doing that now. They would not have taken a skater on if they thought it would be an issue. They have their own reputation on the line.
  23. Eh, Yuzuru's name is the biggest draw so they used it but if you look at the video they're talking about Javier too. They call them the Dream Team (which harkens back to the magical, famous NBA team that played at the Olympics actually, in 1992) with Russian ice sensation joining the other two and how Brian guided Zu and Javier to their medals, with Zhenya expressing her desire to become stronger. It's definitely about the prospect of all these amazing athletes being in one place. Powerhouse central is right! I mean shipping will happen, we have no control over it except from what we do in 'our house' so I am not thinking much about it to be honest. It will be fine or as fine as it can be really and at some points, their names will be connected due to TCC, without any motive apart from just that, amazing athletes in an amazing place.
