I clicked and followed the twitter thread and lmao.

Ahhhhhh!! He's so cute! I wanted to see a video of this and glad there was! (I haven't ridden a bicycle in a decade but I'm sure I still can.)

I also thinks its bogus, like corridor judging in that there should be but isn't any big gaps in what the judges give in each mark; just doesn't make sense. We're measuring the overall best at any given time and at a competition. It's barely a competition between the skaters but between skaters and the judges. So when you look at scores, we must be living in a great era where there's an abundance of legendary complete skaters at the top of most disciplines, complete with beautiful jumps, artistry, transitions and skating.

I'm randomly feeling pessimistic today. I know people say Nessie is Nessie and judges/ISU will be harsh on ratifying the first one, but personally I'm doubtful about it. They ratified Shoma's 4f and continues to despite Nathan bringing it cleanly also. And turns out you can actually "cheat" an axel jump as well. If they actually do go harsh on Yuzu for the ratification though, they might be more lenient on others behind Yuzu to "even the playing field." I mean, Yuzu broke the 300 mark and then the floodgates opened.

Yup. And Nao's right in the middle watching them, kekeke. Aw, I think Habu came over to Hanyu to meet him, since officially I saw that he stood a ways away, and where they met is where Hanyu stood with the other Olympians. The first one too, lol. I just realized they posed for the press, and then for all the interested people behind them.
-
I didn't get to say this earlier but I'll say this now, (also because it took 12 hours for me to also realize that Hanyu was in a friggin suit and he looked so good): Gosh, whatever he was wearing here, really casual but a far cry from hoodie/tshirt and sweats, well he looked reeaaallly good. And his smile's so great and good to see. Like I keep saying about his smile ever since Olys and it's true everytime.

If he ever lurks on PH, perhaps he'd actually be proud of all his meme faces we use as emoticons.

I feel like he's probably secretly doing his CMs and ads now, and we'll only hear about it in the fall of next season. And after this he'll be spend the summer doing ice shows, or his talk shows, maybe the charity event 24hrtv again, but will probably be ninja again for most of the summer to do his programs once rules get finalized.

Ah so beautiful! I hope they get to stand next to Yuzu, if not Habu. (He probably also need someone to ask questions and be on the receiving end of his machine gun talk.) It's a real shame about suits, but hopefully Yuzu got a new one that fits. The last one in 2014 wasn't so bad. (What does it take to get live Yuzu in traditional wear again? I'm not big on another Kouhaku, despite how much fun he had last time.)

Welp, you had a university professor's research going public that Shoma has better height in his jumps (and perhaps even distance?) than Yuzu. So maybe to that professor Shoma has +5 in the bag. At this point, it's not too far fetched to think that at least one judge will go for that 5. I mean I feel like I've seen everything. Even Shoma and Nathan gets decent GOEs under the 3 point system for their jumps while Yuzu doesn't always get 3's across the board. Hypothetically an *ahem* judge could decide that *ahem* has a +5 jump, and for some reason that won't be a stretch, meanwhile the Chinese judge gets reviewed.

Thank you! I'll check it out. I started reading some on GS as well, but their enthusiasm doesn't quite reach me since the posters seem to enjoy these skaters while I do not.

This might not be seen, but we don't have a thread for SOI Tour in USA I believe (if we do, please show me the way), so did anyone go to a show in the US? Is it worth it? I just found out the tour is coming to my city, so normally I wouldn't care but FS is so niche I'd like to give it my support in some way. Except I'm having second thoughts because: 1 - I'm an introvert and even going out to dinner with my family is a chore. 2 - I don't want to waste money. (Especially if I'd rather buy Yuzu things.) 3 - My first live watch of skaters I'd rather it be of Yuzu or my saving for the exorbitant cost to watch Yuzu than go watch skaters I don't enjoy (yep, even Nathan won't make me budge). (Like, I made a similar pledge that my first live concert would be someone I enjoy even if some stars toured here and tickets were cheap, and I kept it until my fave Japanese band miraculously did a US tour.) It's a wonder that despite these 3 reasons I'm even considering to go to the US's version of SOI.

I love the Seimei pose, but I haven't come across any of them covering his Poto unmasking move which with the dramatic Yuzu flair is a favorite of mine too.
-
Unfortunately, no. I would actually like to get my hand on that as well! I feel the same. So many things gets my blood boiling in FS, it's a wonder simply one alien king manages to make me stick around.

Add some of the Japanese commentators to the list with Max and Angelo, although they tend to be nicer and don't say everything. Yude from GS translated Nobu and his co-commentator during one of Shoma's program once and it actually surprised me that Nobu noted some possible URs in Shoma's program that he said might or might not be called. The translation largely went unnoticed in that thread (of course) but Nobu has guts.

Yuzu's one of Japan's most popular athlete currently. And yet some people said Yuzu shouldn't be a torch bearer for 2020 just because he's an athlete from the Winter Games.
-
Ahaha, I'm not quite a newbie but I understand your struggle. During the Olympics I had no idea how to find the Olympics thread when I went to the Events. I'm so slow I didn't even realize it was under ISU. Luckily I found out that if there is an upcoming event/broadcast, you'll see just on the homepage that it was most recently updated/posted since it's an active thread.

Reading this, I think it's such a shame Yuzu isn't more fluent in English (or one of his coaches doesn't speak Japanese). I think Yuzu already shares his research with his teachers, but it'd probably be even more intense if they shared the same language and I love what Yuzu and TCC creates together.
-
Aw, nice try. But the salons probably can't add the extra magic needed to fully get the secret power of Hanyu's hair >> the antenna.
-
Next season might be different, BUT I wonder if Yuzu and TCC will try to pull the same stunt again with one media day and multiple photoshoots in one area in the same clothes, and if those magazines will go along again or try something else to prevent the same situation, kekekeke. They reeeeally dug deep for photos during that time.
-
For real though, this Olympics season during the parts without Yuzu will be legendary in hindsight for the multiple Yuzu cardboard cutouts (the P&G conference also comes to mind) and his white t-shirt.
-
I will never get over this. Hanyu was amazed when fans noticed his black blades. I wonder what he thinks if he knew that we noticed he didn't wear gloves in ACI and then pieced the mystery together by finding the reason why in fancams.

I'm often on this board on my phone, which despite being a millennial I have trouble with so copy and pasting it doesn't work out. I take 15-30 minutes for just one reply. And then realize there's another thing I want to quote after I've already posted. And that's another 15-30 min. Sad sad.
