  1. I propose that there is no L, Near or Mello in this version of Death note. Our evil lord is unrivaled and he rules the world.
  2. This is a hard question.... I think we fanyus, as a collective, can be Misa. =P We're crazy about our evil Overlord and will do stupid things for him.
  3. Boyang takes things slow but steady, with his eyes set on Beijing 2022. It's like Yuzu during Sochi 2014; Pyeongchang OGM has always been part of the plan, he just happened to get the Sochi one as well. This is also why I see the most potential in him amongst these 3 and I'm looking forward to see how he'll grow as a skater. Shoma keeps increasing his tech content even when his jumps and edges aren't stable enough yet. I feel that Shoma is rushing to defeat Yuzu in competition, and since he's not sure when Yuzu will r*****, he's going all out. Others want to win Yuzu because they want to reach the top spot and Yuzu happens to be an obstacle to that goal, but Shoma gives me the impression that he wants to win Yuzu for the sake of winning Yuzu. Shoma's like the younger brother who looks up to his elder brother and at the same time, and wants to reach that level and go beyond. Interestingly, Shoma (and Boyang) are the only guys amongst the top 6 who has not won Yuzu in competition (like SC, 4CC, Worlds). Nathan tries to do as many quads as he can handle. With his skills, it is certainly possible for him to improve his tech and work on artistry at the same time. But that's a slower process than simply adding quads. It's like he's aiming to be a fireworks that light up during Olympics, and then be done and move on to the next stage of his life. It's a pity, but the way he skates now seem like a bad idea for longevity. So I think Boyang might eventually reach the stage where he can do many quads with a complete program. Shoma and Nathan are capable of doing it if they train in that direction, but certainly doesn't seem likely at this point. Yuzu is different because he's such a perfectionist that he wouldn't allow himself to compromise his artistry. And the rate at which Yuzu add quads to his fs is a lot slower than say Nathan or Shoma, so he has slowly conditioned himself to do many quads while still putting out complete and beautiful programmes. I'm not sure if Yuzu will ever want to do a 6 or 7 quad fs, but if he ever does it, I'm sure the artistry is still there. He wants to be known as the skater who's good at everything, not just jumping.
  4. There are many talented skaters out there, but I'm not sure if any can capture as many hearts as Yuzu. It's a little similar to the women's field where Yuna is still regarded as the goddess till today. It's a pity that she doesn't even perform in ice shows anymore. Yup, I'm a crazy fanyu and proud of it. And since I'm a fanyu, that must means I dislike all other skaters right? So for example, I really love dark chocolate, so that must means I dislike all other types of food right?
  5. Thanks for your compilation!!! for the dedication! =D This is the only part where I disagree. I think Yuzu is a great dancer! But, I'm a very terrible dancer myself, so who am I to judge? =P
  6. I couldn't agree more! I feel that Jason definitely should have outscored him at PCS by quite a bit! Although Shoma has always aimed to surpass Yuzu one day, but I'm not sure if he'll be satisfied if the only way he could do that is if judges give him GOEs and PCS like candies. I'm sure Shoma is able to see the gap between his and Yuzu's skating, right? And even if he does win Yuzu at a major competition (like Nathan did at 4CC last season), it will still be a very long way before he can reach Yuzu's levels. We may get more easily because we root for Yuzu, but we give credit where it's due. They're all great skaters, just not as great as Yuzu in our opinions. When we complain about overscoring, it's not like we're saying they should get 30-40 points less. Boyang's Lz is the best so far! Not sure if it'll stay after more skaters, including Yuzu, debut this jump, but I would say its unlikely.
  7. All this talk about live streams are making me nervous! Can't wait for ACI. As I'm currently in the US, I'm thinking if I should subscribe to icenetwork. I've heard lots of negative things about it and their articles are ridiculously biased, but I don't know what other streaming options there are. >__< Or, are there ways to subscribe only to single sports channels?
  8. I love how at the end of the CM he said the thing that attracted his attention was that the product is cute! rofl
  9. Yuzu decided to open a twitter, instagram and facebook account. The flags of the medalists were presented through twitter using the flag emoticons, together with a youtube link to the champion's national anthem. Yuzu starts eatting paprikas too.
  10. 1. Yuzu lands 4F and 4Lz in competition. 2. At least 3 of the top ladies wear pants for their costumes. 3. Shoma jumps all of his lutz (be it triple or quad) with the right edges. There'll be zero flutz-ing this season. 4. Javi and Patrick decide that they will skate till 2022 Beijing Olympics. 5. Boyang gets only 90s and above for his PCS. 6. Nathan decided to Yolo and do an all-quad FS. Still lost to Yuzu though.
  11. I think the title should be 2017-2018 Wishes for Nathan. I also think it's extremely optimistic to predict Patrick for OGM because his best chance was during Sochi. It's funny how Yuzu, Javi and Shoma weren't mention at all.
  12. Yeah...I find it a pity that he's not making social connections in Canada, but it's his personal choice. He knows that he'll eventually go back to Japan, so as long as he is happy, he can do whatever he wants. And I agree, his English is super cute. XD I think his English is now at the right balance between being adorable and sufficient to communicate with Brian, Tracy and others at TCC well. So beautiful!!! But last night I had a dream. It was the Olympics and Yuzu skated 2 clean programmes. I was super excited, but I realized there was no medal ceremony yet. I kept searching and searching and couldn't find out who won. I was panicking because Yuzu's performance was phenomenal and I didn't want him to lose to other skaters with higher BV. I kept searching and eventually woke up and feel relieved that it was only a dream. What has Yuzu done to me...lol
  13. I'm glad everyone is safe too! Planet Hanyu is special not just because of Yuzu, but also because of all of us satellites! =) A little late to the game, but Mastyaeva, your article is written so beautifully! <3 I hope one day I'll be able to go to one of Yuzu's competitions and have similar experiences as you did! Yuzu is too shy to flirt with girls directly; he lets pooh-san do the job for him. =P Or, he likes to play with their hair...if Yuzu adjusting Zhenya's hair can make her fall, imagine what would happen if he's more flirty than that? He's holding back with the girls for the sake of humanity. =P
  14. I would like him to retire voluntarily so that he will always be the Everest that no one will ever surpass. But, I don't want it to come so soon after Pyeongchang...I just became a fan not too long ago and I wish I can follow him closely for a few more seasons. But nothing matters more than Yuzu's health and happiness and I wish whatever decision he makes will achieve that.
  15. I love all these Brian + Pooh moments! The amount of cuteness is only second to Yuzu + Pooh moments. I find it super adorable when Yuzu uses Pooh to kiss girls. XD If Yuzu was less playful or childish, I would legit think that he's flirting. XD I briefly shipped Zhenya and Yuzu after I saw this gif.
  16. I guess...but based on his previous interviews, Yuzu has kinda implied that he'll always be at 20% because the sky is the limit. Of cos Yuzu will keep improving, but eventually he'll r*****, we just don't know when. I think I'm just a greedy fan who wishes that the day will come as late as possible. I'm reminded of Tracy's interview where she mentioned how Yuzu is different because he doesn't lose steam after winning gold. Maybe we're just a bit worried because there were many athletes who r**** after Olympics. Perhaps he's holding himself back this season because he wants to show the best he can to the world on the Olympics stage. After that, perhaps he'll go Yolo with 4A and all the other quads...lol...
  17. I agree. Since Yuzu is such a humble person, I don't think he'll let over-confidence get to him. Given how much competitive the men's field has become, I doubt that he'll let his guard down. I have faith in Yuzu too, but there's a part of me that's worried that if for whatever reason, things didn't go perfectly as he went (even if he won gold), he'll be full of kuyashii....And let's say he achieves his perfect skate, then what's next? I don't want him to r****** yet but if he truly reached the perfection he wanted, what else is there to pursue?
  18. Do you think it's possible to change this? Perhaps let the judges watch only 1 slow-mo before finalizing their GOE scores? It doesn't really take that much time does it? And wouldn't that cause less controversy in judging?
  19. By "not as elegant", I meant it's like 100% vs 99.8%. Sorry didn't make that clear. XD Even when Yuzu pops his axels, it's beautiful. =P And I'm referring to those 3A where he might be toying with the idea of 4A?
  20. I don't really know the technical part of figure skating well, but I guess this explains why I feel that Yuzu's recent 3A aren't as elegant as some of those before. It just doesn't seem as beautiful. It's only 17cm and 10% more speed right? Only 1 more rotation from 3A. I agree. They should make it mandatory for judges to watch more slow-mo replays before awarding GOEs. PCS can be subjective, but not GOEs. If non-experts can spot URs, edges and other issues with slow-mo, the judges have no excuses. I also think Yuzu will benefit more from this because he's often so fast that judges can't catch how brilliant his jumps are. I also wish to see more negative GOEs given. Besides very obvious errors such as falls or hands touching the ground, I don't see negative GOEs being given much often. Based on the current system, "long preparation", "poor take-off", "loss of flow/rhythm", "poor speed, height, distance or air position“ all constitute negative GOEs, but I don't see these getting called out much. And judges need to stop confusing GOEs with PCS, if not it defeats the purpose of PCS. As for the BV, I would prefer a slightly larger decrease...0.2-0.3 seems a little too trivial. Current bv of quads are 6.3-7.6 points higher than the corresponding triples, which make jumping more quads a worthy risk. Since the triples are 2.2-3.9 points higher than doubles, I think it'll be fair if quads have 5 - 6.5 points higher bv. Or, they can increase the bv of triples, especially 3A, since many quadsters still have issues with 3A.
  21. Although the choreography didn't change, we could see how much more exquisite his performance is. Also, I like how his hair is still really neat and awesome at the end of the performance unlike in 2014. Used more gel? =P I agree...despite all the things he has gone through, he has never complained or used those as excuses when things aren't going well. He's also very open to talking about his weaknesses/challenges in such a "as a matter of fact" way, that you gain respect, not sympathy for him. I may not have to deal with any chronic physical conditions, but whenever I feel discouraged or frustrated when things are getting tough, I'll ask myself "What would Yuzu do in this situation?". Then I'll find the strength to carry on.
  22. This is so beautiful!!! I'm being greedy and nitpicky here....but I wished the performance that has inspired Sora-kun was Hana wa Saku, Hana ni Nare or Story. To be fair though, Hiromi Go did a better live version this time round. I love how they feature Sora-kun's eyes as he observed Yuzu skate. Imagine Yuzu skating just for you....We should give Sora credit for being able to stand still and remain calm.
  23. If I know magic, I'll have tons of Yuzu's skating photos like those you see in Harry Potter! Imagine having a hardcopy version of a gif!
  24. Thanks for the info, that's really helpful! I think as long as Yuzu is around, the quad craze won't stop because that's the only chance the youngsters have at beating him. We'll see if this quad craze keeps up after Yuzu eventually r*****. Interestingly, we don't see the ladies increasing their tech content excessively to catch up to Evgenia. Not sure if it's because the 3A and quad barrier is too high for ladies to pass, but I think this is more healthy for the sport.
