I'll be sad for a while, but I'll continue to follow his public appearances and ice shows. I'll still watch fs, but most likely only the major events like GPF, Worlds and Olympics. And...I'll keep rewatching his programs (my favorite is still H&L!). They're too good to get old.
-
Random question: Does anyone know why Evgenia likes to incorporate phone call or ringing part in her programs? I've seen it in quite a few of her programs and I'm quite curious about it.

Thanks @Hydroblade for the lovely article! <3 Maybe we can have a monthly newsletter or something where satellites can contribute to articles to the Planet Hanyu paper? XD

I'm imagining him bringing Pooh-san to say hi to all the other Pooh friends. There'll be lots of Pooh hi-5s and hugs!
-
Aww...that's so cute! Makes me want to see Yuzu in that Pooh cafe, cos it'll be so adorable.
-
I got Chopin!
-
Well, that means Boyang Jin of Japan, together with Shoma Uno and Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan swept all 3 spots of the podium at Worlds 2017. Sounds good to me!

Nobody said anything, but one user shared a malicious twitter post about Yuzu to vent her frustrations. The twitter owner hates Yuzu, not gonna say what that post was cos it's evil. @nopewhy It was personal, that's why we were so upset. We understand that there will be people who dislike Yuzu's skating, but this person went too far on a personal level. I'm not sure if an admin or the user removed the post, but maybe sensitive contents like these can be labelled and hidden like a spoiler comment? This way users can decide if they want to see the content or not.

It's one thing to dislike him, but to curse him like that?!!! That's evil!!! Poor Yuzu ='(...I hope that he receives thousands of love and support for every single hatred he receives cos he deserves it.
-
That is my first thought too. The silhouette also looks like Sashida Fumiya's. I would love to see them collaborate again because Hana ni Nare and Hana wa Saku are such beautiful programmes! And suddenly seeing so much news about Yuzu make me realize how much I miss him . I'm really excited for the season, but I'm also not ready for all the madness to start again .

As much as I think Vincent has lots of talent, Level 4 for both step and choreo sequences? Maybe I'm still unfamiliar with how the step and choreo sequences are judged, but can someone explain to me how Yuzu couldn't get level 4 at times despite having way superior skating skills?

Agree! And I want to see Yuzu live at a competition at least once in my life! Not going to any this season because of budget and schedule.
-
I really hope he continues at least 1 or 2 seasons past Olympics because I believe he'll set new WR with the +/- 5 GOE judging system. And there's the 4A too! Even though I like to see him continue for as long as possible, I also want him to r***** when he's still the King of the sport, unlike.....(sorry 'Uncles' )

I can't help but think of this song when I see this.

Vincent can ask Yuzu about how to be Romeo. =P Yuzu is always very generous with his advice and it'll be great to see Vincent grow as a skater too. I just hope Vincent can understand the "shu" and the "paa".
-
This makes it so obvious that Vincent's skate has a lot more growing to do. It's a pity that they both are using the same music cut for the dramatic portion of the FS. I think one other thing that is amazing is that Yuzu's R&J 1.0 was conceived while he was doing ~60 ice shows because his home rink was damaged during the 2011 Earthquake. He was still recovering from the trauma of the Earthquake and took part in so many ice shows to get more ice time for his training, and yet could come up with this skate. I think Yuzu has other more memorable skates, but this choreo portion in R&J 1.0 is so full of emotions we could really feel Yuzu's Romeo. (I see angst and impatience in his Romeo, but not exactly love for Juliet. But I think that's fine and I think Yuzu once said he didn't really understand love back then, so this is understandable. And I think we can also argue that Romeo didn't really understand his passion towards Juliet either.)

I just went to watch Yuzu's FS from 2012 before watching Vincent's...and I see what y'all mean. The first few seconds were still pretty enjoyable, but after that the entire program is simply preparing for and recovering from quads. His first 2 landings were so shaky that I went 'ouch' because of the impact his leg had to take... I think it's such a pity that many youngsters are joining the quad race. There is no shortcut to success, and even if jumping like crazy increases their chances of getting onto the podium, they would never be remembered as great skaters, like Plushenko, Patrick, Javi, Yuzu etc...

For those who have missed it, here's a tour of TCC by Brian! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/k4pB4wAQK1XujJnViSo Link taken from FOI in Niigata 2017 thread.

This! These youngsters are too hasty in trying to catch up with the top skaters and the judges are encouraging them. If this quad craze continues, I'm worried that male skaters will peak at a much younger age (< 20?) because who knows what kind of damage they're doing to their bodies. Female skaters peak at a younger age because of puberty, something that can't be controlled. But there's no reason for men to peak that early because of quads, something that certainly can be controlled. FS is such a beautiful sport, so I don't want it to turn into a jumping competition. I really hope they stop equating quads with high PCS because I think that's really unfair to the truly polished skaters. Because of this, I also hope Yuzu would stick to a 4 quad LP layout because a 5th quad wouldn't add more perfection to his performance.

2018 Olympics Predictions
singcarcom replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
And I hope this is his only Olympic gold.... Men Singles: I think it's pretty safe to say most, if not all members here are rooting for the same person for gold. As for silver/bronze, I would like to see Shoma, Boyang or Javi in no particular order. I think it's unlikely to have a major upset, so the top 3 is probably going to come from the top 6. Women Singles: Zhenya is almost a given. We'll see how this season goes, but something needs to go very wrong for her to lose her dominance. I don't see that happening and will be happy to see her get gold. I've only recently started to follow ladies' skating so I can't give too much predictions or thoughts, but I think silver and bronze will go to Russia and Japan. -
Yuzu can't have more ice time because of his asthma? On a side note, someone should teach Yuzu how to tie a tie when he's having a break from the rink. He's so adorabe here.
-
That's why Yuzu is amazing! Whenever he wins in a competition or breaks a new WR, his focus is always on how he has more room for improvement and his first statements are usually about him needing to train harder (despite the fact that he trains really hard!). He might be happy with his results (sometimes), but he has this intense desire to keep going further and further. While other top men also talk about improving further, it's usually after they say that they're happy about their results. Saying that they can improve further is an act of humbleness, although their focus is on their success. While men figure skating has gotten lot more competitive and exciting in the past few years, I still see Yuzu as someone in a league of his own. In every sports, there's always waves of veterans r*****ing and youngsters joining, and the veterans slowly fade out of sight. But I think Yuzu will be remembered for decades to come. Even when he r******, his legacy will not.

Yuzu may have captured our hearts, but not this Kitty's. XD

POLL: Yuzu's 2017-18 FS music predictions
singcarcom replied to sublimeskating's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
I hope it's a brand new music too. FF VII and X will be cool because it is well-known enough (especially among gamers) for people to appreciate it? I don't know about POTO 2.0, Seimei 2.0 or RJ 3.0...repeating 2 programs from the same season or having two 3.0 programs seems a little too much. But no matter the choice, I'll trust in Yuzu and his team. Can't wait to see his olympic FS program! -
Thanks for the translation. =) While I know winning every competition is within Yuzu's ability, I wonder if setting this goal would put too much pressure on him. I guess that's why I'm now glad he chose to do Chopin 3.0 for his sp. He's very consistent with Chopin and based on his performances for the ice shows, it looks like 3.0 will be better than its predecessors. And please, no seimei 2.0, unless the music and choreo are completely different (then that's no different than choosing a new program). Yuzu's already judged more harshly than others, so if he repeats 2 programs from the same season I don't know what impression that might leave on the judges.
