At 2:56 (when they cut to Yuzu), I think the male voice that becomes louder/more apparent is his

Here's a clip of him singing (I like his voice. It's always so much deeper in Japanese than when he's speaking any other language) ( : http://kognitive-impairment.tumblr.com/post/161506946259/after-seeing-so-many-videos-of-yuzuru-lip-syncing

As someone who can't roll her 'R's to save her life, I'm always impressed with Spanish in general. I can collect all the East Asian languages but European ones....a long way to go Also, French!

Japanese has keigo which is formal Japanese for business situations, 'regular' Japanese (ます endings) and sort of has the equivalent of banmal but I'm not sure if there's a name for it (we learnt it as 'plain form' - る endings, for example). So yeah, very similar. The pronunciation (abundance of vowels, rolled 'r's and words kind of bleeding 'into' each other) in Korean is probably difficult to transfer over and vice versa (hence...Yujuru ). I struggle a lot with getting Korean pronunciation right in a sentence because, to me, it's a very 'open mouthed' language and I find it slightly awkward haha.

LOL dying at the shot of the Korean/Yuzu fans in the audience all armed basically like the press corps. Also his accent when he says 'soondubu' is so cute~ Apparently Korean and Japanese grammatical structures are very similar so it's very easy to learn one by learning the other (that being said, I struggled at first to make heads or tails of Korean). Chinese is....er...a different beast LOL. Tonal pronunciation is tricky hahaha. I want to hear him speak Russian...he probably will at CoR : D

Oh Sota.... his story hits me so hard because of how swiftly and cruelly an injury can rob him of all those years of hard work and all that wonderful potential and talent. Take care and recover well bb, 2022 still waits for you Just quickly translating Sota's words: (In Pt 1) 'For so many years before my injury, the Olympics was somewhere I absolutely wanted to go, somewhere I had to go. Because of that (because I've come to this point), it's hard to give up, even if I would have normally given up by now'. (Pt 2) 'Because all the guests/audience sent me warm applause and voices, it was a joyful skate. There's still a long period (ahead) where I'll have to keep working hard, so I want to work hard to answer to my fan's support.'

tag yourself I'm the girls crying on the sidelines for sota ))): (I'm touched he has a shoulder floof a la Hope and Legacy)

apparently Yuzu's first nickname when he started skating was 'Konyaku' which makes sense bc it's super flexible/rubbery and contains almost no fat
-
Well to be fair, he said "either Artur Gachinski, Yuzuru Hanyu or the possible debut medallist at next year's Worlds will be the Olympic champion at the upcoming 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia", so I think he was right I do adore Morozombie's blog. He has this extremely old school sophistication to his turn of phrase and vocabulary but manages to pack so much into one sentence with a lot of wry humour, as dry as a desert. I have no idea what the actual writer looks like but I just picture an aged and jaded Russian man sipping from a glass of bourbon. One of my favourite paragraphs from him was from the Sochi Team Event recap

how must it feel to have so much advertising power that people will dissect your juice boxes with so much detail.....?

this is going to be the longest October ever I don't know how figure skating fans survive every season like this

LOL tbh JP TV are doin all the hard work of fans and making it official, is it always like this with their sports coverage?? Segment started by looking at his track record of silvers to explain it's not a big deal he lost in the first comps (I'm surprised they didn't pick up on his 2 silver per season tradition tbh) Recapped that Yuzu had gone to Seimei shrine on 4 June and the fact he has the pentagram on his costume design Even brought in an expert (Sano-san) to comment on the fact that his 1Lz pop was really high and had a lot of power. Sano-san said that if he was only doing a 3Lz, he shouldn't have popped the jump as hard as he did because there would have been no need to put in so much energy (ie. the implication is that because put in a lot of energy, it shows he was doing the 4Lz/used to doing the 4Lz) Ueda comments that it's better to have a few failures/mistakes at the start of the Olympic season and it's a good thing he takes frustration as motivation to get better. The other host (sorry idk his name) says that it's the regular pattern every year so no need to worry I feel like we're all being drip fed a small but steady stream of Yuzu reassurances until Rostelecom which is good but also like they sense we're all dying LOL

'There were really primary school children and pre-schoolers/kindergarteners saying 'I will marry Hanyu-senshuu'.' Everyone go home, we can't win against cute children
-
I was reading he broke/fractured(?) his ankle in March this year ): So not much time to heal at all. I'm so, so sad for him... it was his dream to go to the Olympics with Yuzu and now it's looking like he's going to need much more time

Don't know if this has been posted yet (probably?) but the JP TV broadcast for Chopin - glad we could see more of the K&C

Thank you for such a comprehensive translation! Max has so much to say but he's so on point for so much of it (I'm also laughing at the frequent shade being thrown). I guess the only downside is that it makes me angry that the ISU aren't listening to him T__T I loved his very pertinent observation that a skater's skills are developed by the competition around him - ie. implying Plushenko had the innate ability to achieve more types of jumps but because his competition was focused on skating skills and artistry, never managed to develop them further because he didn't need to. In a way, Yuzu skating at the tail end of the 'artistry era' (ruled by Patrick) and having to 'raise the technical bar/norm' to beat that allowed him to achieve both. Once this new technical bar settles, we may see a swing back into artistry but it will be awhile before that happens.

look, I don't expect anyone to live up to Actual Fashion Icon™ Boyang Jin but like. why is this the one thing he's not competitive about.

A waste. Such a waste

Well, I know what I'm going to be doing in the leadup to Christmas (social life what now?) Gonna be tears no matter what happens for the ladies though
-
He definitely gets them at least custom embroidered. I think he basically just cares about two things when it comes to fashion: his UA and his earphones (I'm assuming he wears contacts too bc he's definitely not the type to wear fake glasses for fashion lmao)
-
Oh no... my heart breaks for Sota (what competition is this??)

Yuzu is marketing gold, it's amazing they haven't tried to take advantage of that more tbh
