I think it's a very good idea and I'm glad his team are doing it for him - I sort of wonder why other competitors don't?? (though I assume hiring out rink practice sessions would be out of pocket + having to accommodate your team for longer but the top skaters could probably(?) afford to make the investment). Giving yourself more time to acclimate to the environment and get over any adjustment-related illnesses seems like a good idea all around, especially considering how it turned out for both Yuzu and Javi.
-
Please, someone introduce yuzu to the revolutionary concept of hands
-
To be fair, no one had any idea he was injured after Boston especially not that severely until ages later. As much as I hate they must focus on it and that there are people who will capitalise on it, there’s something to be said for having an injury/weakness out in the open - there’s a lot more sympathy and support and understanding that way
-
Yuzu’s even getting somewhat unexpected support from Prince fans. The comment says that JP media had created a somewhat mistaken impression of Prince in the public eye especially in Japan so many people kind of felt disgusted/unsettled by Prince and it was hard to be his fan and he had very little supporters. But Yuzu came and delivered LGC and it suddenly became a good thing to say you like Prince. So many Prince fans love Yuzu and support him. They praise Yuzu for his performance’s power and ability to take people to a new world and unlock new possibilities (similar to Prince). They say there’s no doubt Prince would also be very happy https://ameblo.jp/yuzuotome3098/entry-12226865893.html I love Yuzu for breaking gender roles and daring to make risky choices like LGC and H&L. It’s touching to see how far his actions and choices extend and touch people. I hope he gets to feel even just a little of that edit: lol @MrPudding beat me to my own tweet but I thought I’ll add a bit more detail abt the blog post that I couldn’t fit into the tweet ( :

Yep, agreed. I don't doubt if he's able to jump the 4Lz, he will fight tooth and nail for it.
-
The question is if Yuzu would listen... maybe the injury will make him reconsider but he's proven Brian wrong many times too....and this is literally his do-or-die Olympics Ideal we're talking about >_> well. We'll find out, hopefully. yeah I agree re: Ghislain probably lacking the confidence to pull him back especially with someone as stubborn as Yuzu to begin with, and it must have all happened so quickly. I'd say Yuzu's only managed to rein in some of that nervous overtraining energy recently (as recently as Helsinki) so I'm not surprised he lapsed into bad habits without Brian to keep an eagle eye on him. Well. Hopefully this is more psychological insight for them to work on in training. s i g h

You think? I mean...I would recommend it but I see Yuzu stubbornly not wanting to be cowed by it. I read (was it someone's comment here?) that 4Lo might be tougher on his foot/ligaments though?
-
I absolutely don't expect him to take out the 4Lo - he never skates a program with an easier layout than one he's already skated - and he'll only take out the 4Lz if it goes disastrously badly at Nationals and probably with his team forcing him to. The universe is quick to remind the boy to listen to his body for once and know his limitations. I'm speculating here but maybe the failed 4Los and fever were making him unsettled and Yuzu's general response to being unsettled is to amp things up to eleven push himself harder, not ease up.... leading to a harsh and painful lesson yet again ugh. I'm sad because this may have actually been a situation where Brian or Tracy may have been more familiar with reading his moods and general condition and may have been able to force him to calm down a bit and not rush into more quads. I don't expect Ghislain to be focused on that since I imagine his attention would be on the jumps. C'est la vie. Lots of bad luck happening at once )):

A reminder for everyone to not freak out too much about news articles speculating on his injury (because there are some floating around twitter) and to be wary that news websites are going to be milking hypotheticals about recovery times etc. to get clicks.
-
honestly, I'm doing fine until I come across anything reminding me he was crying. I hope the boy won't blame himself too much and just focus on getting better ))): Headline says 'When he withdrew from NHK, Hanyu cried', includes explanations about the injury, how he can still go to the Olympics and a comment from Kozuka with headline 'maybe it was more serious than he thought'. Not sure if anyone is going to do an in depth translation of that comment - lightly skimming it, seems like he's talking about how the injury will need time to recover and speculating as to why Yuzu withdrew and hoping he will rest.

Just wanted to give a huge shoutout to @SparkleSalad and @KatjaThera for having to go through every emotional up and down in person but still finding the strength to share the swans and love from PH for Yuzu with other JP fans and even (possibly?) give comments to journalists. And sharing our wishes at the temples for Yuzu. Seeing them pop up around twitter has made me smile today, I hope you’re both taking care of yourselves and enjoying Japan as much as is possible And also @gladi for rallying up a support project so quickly, I hope it’ll reach him soon!
-
Google translate was close but it says: ‘Please do not cry*. No matter what, Sendai is supporting you’. *the nuance to me is perhaps closer to ‘Please somehow find the strength not to cry.’

@SparkleSalad, your board is beautiful 😭💕 the caption says they were touched by your banner and feel like his fans worldwide are praying for him to get better soon

Yeah but then the Kyodo News article says "The skating star also injured his right knee and currently cannot put weight on his right leg, according to his jump coach Ghislain Briand." ???? ?????? No use believing too much of anything right now. My gut feeling is that it's probably a 'medium' type injury - not Boston serious, but also not a light sprain he could walk easily away from. Just hope he rests well and doesn't push himself out of anxiety.
-
I'm glad they're being paranoid for Olympic season... if it's only a small sprain or tear, hopefully it will heal quickly and he can put his energy into prepping well for Nationals and Olympics (shitty timing but still, as much as we can ask for right now)
-
It's not serious??? omg PLEASE
-
let's not 🙃🙃🙃🙃

i kind of feel like he was hoping to get to the 4A by olympics if he was planning to do 1yr per quad type excluding 4F but the 4S and 2014/15 set him back.... his scrunchy face and nervous laughter is a dead giveaway
-
the whole domestic goddess angle works much better when we don't already know he's got a 100% one-track skating mind, is utterly disinterested in food & prob doesn't do his own laundry/ironing/cooking like. ever.
-
what character development he's actually resting and taking care of his body, this stubborn silly boy
-
Yes to this - hard for brands to invite him to product launches, events etc. where they can maximise his affiliation with them too. I definitely get the impression he’s taken as many deals as he needs for him/his family to live comfortably/practically but he’s not trying to actively seeking to make it a focus of his time. Which fits with his one track skating mind and ironically makes his own brand more exclusive, albeit not particularly ‘cutting edge’ lol I do wish he’d get sponsored by UA but the brand is primarily interested in mainstream sports and he doesn’t have a typical ‘Western athlete’ look either so I’m not surprised they haven’t noticed. Their loss ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I think we just figured out a reason for the P&G deal.....Mama Hanyu needs her yearly supply of household items
