Oh Keiji...I hope he gets to make it to the Olympics. I'm sure it couldn't have been easy to kind of grow up in Yuzu's shadow (with Ryuju) but they seem to get along well and I'm glad it was an impetus to drive him to improve - so many kids may have been bitter or resentful about it. Also I like the confirmation that he is actually the Responsible Mum Friend to Yuzu's Extra and Shoma's Struggle lmao

This was a rough time emotionally and mentally to put out what he did at Skate Canada given it seems like he's struggled with readjusting his headspace in this new quadster environment and it must be demoralising to see his PCS not holding up either. Oh, I definitely would agree with the EX being much easier but it is Yuzu and he operates kind of differently from others, especially this season. Given what he's said about the Olympic season, I doubt he'd invest significant time into creating an EX, especially at this stage where he has a brand new jump layout and a brand new jump to master which is, in bulk, like learning a new program. He doesn't seem like the type who needs/wants variety of programs to take his mind off his competitive programs nor the type who might get super bored of his programs enough to start working on an EX (partly because he tends to treat his EX as programs anyway, they're not really 'throwaways'). YMMV of course, I'd be delighted if he pulls something new out but I am definitely not expecting it.

I also think he's probably just going to be using Notte Stellata the whole way through (at the most he may skate something Japanese for NHK/Nationals - my bet would also be on Hana ni Nare). But if it means he'll do the programs that matter at the Olympics, I can forgive most things =u=

Trust Japan to be #Extra enough to have a release date for a commercial lmao (they should just produce a series of artistic ~inspiring~ short films about Yuzu and release a new one when they hit a sales numbers target...it would sell like crazy)

The GPF is really going to be an essential event this year and I believe Yuzu has hinted at that as well - for Yuzu to keep his streak would be an enormous boost of confidence and swing the momentum significantly back to his side heading into February. The thing about Yuzu, though, is that he is even more fired up by mistakes, defeat and being in the underdog position so even if the worst happens and someone else breaks his streak, I don't think it'll be a death knell on his Olympics either. I don't really want to draw too many conclusions about media spotlight's effect on other skaters because I would say they all handle pressure and attention differently -- only for Yuzu, that's also a good thing if the spotlight is off him for a bit (as much as it can be...it never truly will) because he'll be fired up to prove himself in competition. Anything that will get him in that fighting mood is a good thing - tbh he struggles much more with being in the lead. Either way, one step at a time - NHK first!

I am back (temporarily)! Someone said the main gist before so the news broadcast just added that the writing on his mugshot are all from Yuzu - basically notes about how he wants to amend the costume. I think (I HOPE) it means the swirly glitter things are going to grow to cover the whole thing, judging by the final sketch, which would be EXCITING AND GOOD. I wonder if there's more to the Chopin costume.

I was pretty positive Yuzu would not retire until he at least attempted the 4A in competition so the news isn't a surprise but it's always good to have more solid confirmation.
