  1. Hahaha I love this, he'd be very busy with all those music cuts though hahaha. I guess they wanted to go with more ~sophistication~ by incorporating Holst into it but I'm sighing at how they're not using the sweeping iconic epics instead of...cantina......... ....... ugh. anyway. maybe he'll sell it : /
  2. I've been lowkey working on this for months through my spiralling descent into the yuzu sinkhole, the assignment just gave me the final push to polish it off and post
  3. I'm procrastinating on an assignment so, naturally, my exhaustive yuzu intro post with all the links is finally done (keen for people to send me other recommended links so pls message me here or on tumblr if there are Iconic(TM) things I've missed lol) http://kaerb.tumblr.com/post/165474968404/yuzuru-hanyu-an-exhaustive-intro-in-links
  4. I'm happy if he's staying around! Seems a pity to retire just on Olympic season especially since he's from a small country and has a chance of going right? (hopefully??? I haven't been keeping up with his scores tbh) I love that he seems to be one of the skaters that Yuzu is closest to and he seems universally loved by most of the skaters - you always need the dude who knows everyone to bring up the mood of the party right?? I have never been that person but I appreciate them
  5. LOL I'm just imagining poor Misha internally being all 'WTF wait I'm NOT LEAVING YET' when Yuzu was determinedly pushing him out to take a final bow (maybe he reconsidered afterwards lol)
  6. Huh...what was all the ceremony at the World Championships then? (iirc didn't Yuzu push him out to take a special bow or something?)
  7. Soooo....did Misha officially un-retire???
  8. lmao someone on the Ghana Choco marketing team is giving themselves a high five right now
  9. Oh wow and Sydney is 19m. Pyeongchang roughly 750m.... Toronto about 76m. I guess they should all be doing some conditioning in preparation for Olympics o__O
  10. Damn did they hold this on top of a mountain, I didn't think high altitude would be a thing that would affect them to this extent??? (I don't actually know where they held this so it may actually be at a mountain)
  11. You mean just sustained It's going to be interesting to see how quickly the threads will move lol
  12. Tbh what I'm most afraid of is a repeat of Worlds this year where my livestream KEPT FREEZING during his performance and only the audio could keep running so I heard cheering over a frozen image and that was my only way of knowing how well he was doing 🙃🙃🙃 I had like 3 different live streams and they were ALL freezing/lagging the tragedy of being in a country that does NOT broadcast winter sports (but anyway my anxiety is gonna peak nicely at ACI, GPF then Olys, I should get +5GOE on all of them )
  13. The first time is always the hardest......maybe?? (I've fallen so deep into the FS world and have rewatched so many old videos that this does not feel like my first time following a season unfold in real time but it....is LOL)
  14. Welcome! And just in case you and @Smultron haven't seen them yet, the-real-xmonster on Tumblr has written a series of handy guides for recognising figure skating moves and explaining rules etc. I'm still learning to recognise turns and steps but it's great for a reference when you're learning ( : I mostly recognise Yuzu's jumps because I watch his routines too many times for it to be sensible...
  15. petition to give @kaeryth a 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' Yuzu Video Edition quiz I totally got second hand embarrassment from this costume (save the child) but that's.......okay....... Yuzu: 'I really don't want to watch this. Really, I don't want to watch.' Mai: How is it, Hanyu-senshuu? Yuzu: Oh no.... I really don't want to watch this.' Mai: It was 2010, your first time performing at Stars on Ice. It was when Hanyu-senshu was 15. You hadn't grown to your current height yet right? Yuzu: That was probably the season when I was growing. And also the season I stopped growing. Mai: Do you remember that time? Yuzu: I remember. I can probably still do it (the routine). I jumped the 4T for the first time during practice at that Stars on Ice. Mai: You've progressed and evolved incredibly in these four years but when you look back on this performance, how do you feel? Yuzu: I was unpolished. I was pretty unpolished. Mai: You also did the ina bauer here Yuzu: Yes, I have always been doing the ina bauer. It was around this time I started doing the hydroblade. Maybe started a year before this? Mai: You were so flexible, doing the Biellmann spin too. Yuzu: Thank you Mai: Is it nostalgic for you? Yuzu: Very nostalgic. ...I was skating too intensely with all my strength and not smiling at all! Ah...the coming Salchow. I was nervous each time for this next Salchow. That was dangerous, wasn't it? (talking about the landing) Mai: At the time, was 15yr old Hanyu Yuzuru imagining himself becoming the Olympic Gold Medallist? Yuzu: No, it wasn't so much imagining as making it a goal to strive for. ... my style probably hasn't changed much, I was always trying with all my strength and working hard with all my strength. (and then they talk about Yuzu performing Hana Ni Nare)
  16. Strategically, it's a great move for precisely the reasons you stated (the program itself is called 'The matches chosen by God' so the other subjects are also probably going to be talking about their 'legendary' performances). Which is why I'm like....why not show this before ACI?? Maybe during the lead-up? In the next few days? (it's bc they want to capitalise on Yuzu news after it happens, probably, but still......) I guess it could make people see, retrospectively, what he changed in Seimei 2.0 though.
  17. Might as well translate this lol, literally just three things Yuzu: 'I was extremely annoyed at myself at this point' Narrator: Yuzuru Hanyu revealing for the first time (his thoughts?) on the legendary performance ('his thoughts' is not specified but I'm pretty sure that's what the sentence means) Yuzu: 'Can you pause this for a second here?' I like the implication he's just gonna critique and nitpick on his entire performance LOL. Also, props to the stylist. Can he wear more suits pls?
  18. Hahaha I was summoned? Should be so much fun to watch him react to Seimei, especially in a special segment as opposed to just quick snippets. I'm waiting to see him spill all the salt about the SS : D (though tbh I wish they could air it BEFORE Autumn Classic bc like....I need to survive until then pls) From 9:30: Parisienne Walkways: 'I knew I was nervous at the time but I thought whatever happens, let's just have fun' While watching, his body was moving along to the music and the host commented on it (to general laughing) 'I still have some regrets about that axel' (I think he says the landing was a bit crunchy? PERFECTIONIST AF) At the end: 'I'm making a super smug face there.' R&J 2.0 Host: 'Now we're going to watch the free-' Yuzu: 'Thank you very much...' (getting up as if to end the segment LOL he really didn't want to watch it) 'More than being apologetic that I had some falls, I felt really sorry because there was a lot of expectation for me to win the gold and I thought I had lost it there' (I think he means 'let everyone down' as well) 'I will work hard to become a strong, champion-like skater, this is just the start.'
  19. Just came across this gifset http://tsukihoshi14.tumblr.com/post/165355447013/yuzuland-yuzuru-hanyu-his-thoughts-on-his and wanted to share because there are NEW WEIRD ONOMATOPOEIA sounds he's making along with hilarious faces (+ profound words) (at 15:43)
  20. ahhh, this must be a cultural gap thing since dryers are rarely used in Aus (we have an old dryer but it's separate to the washer) -- to me, this is 10000% 'here's one I prepared earlier'
  21. best part of this was that the "freshly washed" shirt came out fully dry
  22. Most complete form of Seimei - just missing the spins and the first SS (so excitedddd) ; u ; <3
