  1. Ambivert is right, though he seems to have a LOT of pent up social energy to let out during ice shows, hence why he gets so hyper about them lol. I'm just gonna stick to my pet theory he's a supreme JP netizen lurker gaming troll on the internet during his downtime until he proves otherwise
  2. lol this almost looks too on the nose (every single interest he has is represented in some way...and usually once? also lol @ the username, boy isn't subtle if this really is his channel). But I can see him having that channel circa 2011 before he started getting noticed, probably hasn't used it for awhile though. I'm positive he lurks online but probably under a slightly more savvy/obscure UN now : P (giggling at the Kara playlist, I'd believe this is his just on that)
  3. Nathan's costume better be some bloody diamond encrusted Givenchy jacket set with hand embroidered brocade pants or something.... how is it possible it's taking a year to make?
  4. As someone who loves travelling and exploring new places, I'm just like 'they get to go all over the world but they don't see any of it by choice' (I guess this is also how they can focus enough to be Olympic level athletes but still). I'm still dying about how Shoma's such a hermit he doesn't even know his own hometown lakdjals;f even Yuzu's not that bad, probably???? ? ? ? I'm going to just be permanently emotional about Sota and at how hard he's working to recover ;;;;; I hope he gets his quads back by Nationals.... dare we hope
  5. lol this was backstage at FAOI or some sort of ice show, I believe and since he usually goes out at the end as the 'title' skater (not part of a group number), is saying he wants to be part of the group number. He means he has confidence he is the most hyper audience member, excited by the others' skating (hence the cheering) and not that he's the most popular/'hyped' btw (I interpreted the subs the latter way initially and was like 'that's kind of uncharacteristic'). This is why I lowkey think he's more of an extrovert who's become an introvert by habit and necessity, he gets so hyped up and energised during shows and around people
  6. No hurry, that's fine! Thank you for arranging all of this - I only wish I was better at programming so I can help
  7. Thanks @Hydroblade, the map looks lovely, I'm amazed by your programming skill haha! It's um...struggling a bit with my message (I keep clicking save and it doesn't seem to be working). Does it support messages in Japanese?)
  8. they wouldn't be able to fudge numbers as convincingly if they did it your way..... To be fair, it would take quite a bit of time for judges to press up to 8 bullets for each element live while the skater is performing, they probably are just trained to 'internalise' what a +1/+2/+3GOE element looks like and hence we get some wild calls every once in awhile (then again...being able to check off bullets fast should be what judge training is for lol)
  9. Oh.....that's really worrying if they've taken him out of promotional materials -- it means that, at best, he's not confirmed his attendance so they can't advertise something uncertain and at worst, has already withdrawn ): I'd really hate to see Patrick go out with that Skate Canada skate as his last....
  10. Nope, this is perfect, thank you so much! (full I meant like...the victory ceremony from beginning to end lol sorry, I only see short clips everywhere). And thank you @kaeryth
  11. This fits with the idea that every skater has particular genres of music that are a better fit for them - Nathan and Wakaba are the lucky two who I felt really managed to hit on 'their' music this season (Nathan's SP, Waka's FS), which is why there was such a drastic upswing in interest and appeal (sadly not PCS marks for Wakaba). The programs become a highlight because of how well it fits them and puts them in a position where the audience is really able to get emotionally invested in their skating. Alina's music - to me - is just 'meh' to me, it's not bad but it's not the one, though I couldn't tell you what 'the one' is. PW was Yuzu's key weapon in Sochi, let's be real, and I hope Seimei and Chopin will be similarly so. I've been showing things to non-skating fans around me quite a bit in my descent into the FS fandom -- I think I often forget that casual people aren't only lacking emotional investment in the skaters but also - to be honest - don't really care about the skating lol. All they're looking out for is confidently rotated jumps and good landings because it's the one element they can understand, and the rest is if they like the music (my family got abruptly more impressed by Yuzu after LGC against all expectation -- it was the first program they watched fully that they couldn't look away from, apart from GPF Seimei), if they're distracted by the costumes; if they find the skater physically appealing lol. I think most of them take to 'direct' storytelling and intensity more readily because it demands your attention from the get-go, rather than introverted, 'slow start' programs (where I sometimes have to remind them to LOOK, SOMETHING'S HAPPENING). That being said, you show them Group 1 skaters and then the top skaters and they can sense the difference, and also have commented on the difference in the way Yuzu moves compared to some others.
  12. Yeah, although the article on them I read said the IOC do have an interest in letting them go in the interests of promoting peace through sport so if there is a wildcard for them to offer, I hope they would give it to them. Such a shame but they would have little say in it all, I guess it's already miraculous they're allowed to go internationally to regular skating events ):
  13. Does anyone have a link to the full victory ceremony at NHK 2015 and Nats 2015? ;;
  14. It's the Olympics. There's no possible way they would have forgotten, so it's probably the regime as a whole forbidding them to go (iirc NK didn't let its other winter sports team go to Olys qualifying events) : /
  15. Boyang is such a sweet kid ; ___ ; breaks my heart that he's missed out on the GPF again but he fought so hard to prove he could officially qualify so I hope that's a weight off his shoulders. And Zhenya too -- I hope she recovers properly and is her upbeat self again ;; In some ways, this weird AF GPF season was a reminder to appreciate everyone we might have taken for granted in the FS scene, Yuzu included May 2018 and the Olys be the year where all the injured athletes can come back to be their best selves and put out their ideal performances
  16. I'm so sad for the NK athletes. Do we know if it's just NK boycotting the Olympics in general? What a cruel thing to deny them ):
  17. I'm not reading too much meaning into the wine thing just yet - I thought that seemed to just be a funny incident when out with friends, not some sort of pattern. But this sort of radio silence does kind of feel like a precursor to an unexpected retirement... though I feel like maybe he'll at least go to Olys for the team event? Does he have an official fanclub or fan website? I hope they can send him something to cheer him up : /
  18. but instead of finding a tailor, he goes for ill fitting suits or trackpants I like high waisted skinny jeans, they make my short legs and long torso look better
  19. lol true, though I do think he was mostly on point with the first question. my working theory is that he just listens for key words he knows ('short program') and figures talking about his feelings usually makes for a pretty all-purpose answer (PJ never corrects him either even when he's completely off base lol so...no improvement in that area ).
  20. his little red nose and cheeks here (this is probably the most fluent he's sounded in one go, even if he didn't exactly answer the second question hehe)
  21. someone on my t-list says it sounds like he's going through a mid-life crisis. I worry he might pull a Mao ):
  22. Which is why it worries me a little that he won't have had as much comp experience of consecutive SP/FS days. It wouldn't be too bad if they could just skate and then get off but the media stuff afterwards takes ages. I hope the morning schedule means they'll at least be able to get an afternoon of recovery and a good night's sleep instead of talking to media, or at the very least for Yuzu's team to put their foot down and only do the bare minimum of media interviews after the SP at least...but knowing how polite the boy is to media, he'll probably sit there and answer all the questions. What's particularly infuriating is that there's a perfectly good day with nothing scheduled to have the mens FS on the 18th Re: Flag bearing at closing... well. He loves his country. I don't think -- if the dream does happen -- he'll mind the media attention or the flag-bearing position to be honest. The boy does have a bit of a narcissistic streak to him (all champions do) but he only enjoys it when he feels like it's deserved. We can only believe that it'll happen T___T
  23. We must be sustained on the power of Yuzu marketing household products (looks like some sort of spray and another dishwashing liquid?) until JNats Happy Page 2000! May we see him back soon (incidentally, one of my favourite photos of him ever below)
  24. Right?? I highly doubt Yuzu is the oldest. That being said, I feel like w/ flag-bearing, it would be seniority but based on results. So if there's someone older than Yuzu on JP Olympic team with non-gold Olympic medals and a healthy track record in their field (aka. Mr Noriaki?), they'd probably take precedence over him. Or maybe that's what I hope for him since being flag bearer right after team event sounds tiring AF, especially since they all have to conserve their energy because of the back-to-back SP and FS ugh. (it's so weird to me that 4yrs of build up will be over in a mere 2 days........ the ship has long sailed for bemoaning the scheduling but honestly, if they wanted to avoid the danger of subpar FS, maybe consider scheduling events that give athletes some recovery time, especially those competing in team events )
  25. It would be a nice gesture for Mr Noriaki to carry the flag -- 8 Olympics is pretty incredible Is he the only one older than Yuzu? (excluding Chris and Kana) That's absolutely ridiculous to me - surely other winter sport athletes have a longer sporting lifespan??
