  1. Was this from 2014 oly? I also think that TCC generally assumes Yuzu will podium at all competitions, kind of an unspoken thing even among the public really. And after this gpf, the judges might really want Yuzu, Javi and Pchiddy back.
  2. didn't the interview at nhk say he needed 10 days complete rest, and then take 3-4 weeks to be back in form? That is a total of about 6-7 weeks, so this isn't that surprising. We are just in the physio therapy and strength regain part of the schedule. Besides, again, the real jumps he needs to train are 4lz and 4 loop, both of which require him to be well to avoid reinjury. He seems capable of doing the rest in even suboptimal conditions. edit: you know, after not skating for 12 years, it only took me about 8 hours to get all my spins and jumps up to salchow back. Yuzu will no doubt be faster in getting anything back, because his muscle memory has even more data. So I don't think him going to full recovery on ice, skills wise will take longer than 2 weeks, less than that if we do not count the 4lz.
  3. not so much optimism, but pragmatism. Realistically, the jumps Yuzu needs to practice are the 4Lutz and 4loop, both of which are taxing on the right foot and ankle. So if there is pain, it is better he does not push himself to avoid reinjury. The pain itself might not be that bad, possibly pain that normally he would push through. But given what is at stake this season, and what his practice will focus on, it is better for him to be cautious. Though Brian might need to reign him in once he is fully healed. That Kuyashii level might be super saiyan level now.
  4. How recent is the news? Besides, this isn't that shocking....his knee took him about a month, doubt the ankle would be less for full recovery. We just barely passed a month. Considering he is practicing quads, better he is fully stable, since this is the all important ankle.
  5. This is grounds for fanart. Yuzu like a mama swan leading all these baby swans (aka junior skater-or younger-fanboys) around the ice.
  6. ...I have another fanart idea. Stop it guys, I need sleep.
  7. Forwarded to his people....so he is from another planet XD (Hydroblade on behalf of ) Planet Hanyu forum: We would like to forward our sincerest wishes for his majesty's health and happiness on this grand occasion. To express our thoughts, we have gathered and collected the messages from our citizens and placed them on an interactive birthday card. We hope this will suit the custom of Emperor Hanyu's planet. Please take it and our knees, ankles and otherwise health in general to help expedite his recovery to full strength. Reply: Thank you planet hanyu forum. We have conveyed your message to his planet's delegation for homo sapiens and earthly affairs. * A giant spaceship of poohs arrive and poke and prod at the interactive card, before deeming it safe to take it to the home planet of the Emperor space kitty.* *Note: just joking. This is pretty awesome! Hope he gets to play around with it and see all the well wishes! From the mortals and the various arctic animals and fishes that figured out how to work a computer!
  8. I am sincerely curious what he will get as a birthday cake. And just how many cakes will be placed in front of him-TCC, family, fans, Japan press might show up in Canada? Today might be Hanyu Cake Day?
  9. Sorry T_T (I'm the opposite, I can't view the forum at work but can view twitter, love IT logic). I was looking over the poohs spread around China to see if there were any new messages that might need some editorial review. But so far, the new ones that sprung up is okay. I think so far I've seen less trolling messages than expected, which is good. The entire map is pretty much filled with poohs-and we essentially made for him an interactive birthday card.
  10. It's only the morning in NA, so I don't think so yet.
  11. Hmm so it's a boot issue? I do wonder why he wears something lower than an edea ice fly for quads. T_T hope he gets better in time. He wanted to prove he could get into the GPF perhaps a bit too much.
  12. ten bucks he is, since he watches competitors like a hawk. nothing special on ana wechat...
  13. Hmm...will Mt Irene spew forth cakes shaped like medals and covered with edible gold leaf? Then followed by a spray of champagne that makes all citizens extremely happy and woozy. Methinks that for such events, the public holiday must be a week long event. Now...it might be necessary to build extra storage space for all the gifts that will arrive from well-wishers for Emperor Hanyu.
  14. Yes, glad to see such a concession is done. And really, really sorry for Zhenya and all the young ladies who will get the burden now. They know in figure skating it's on them. Yes, they have the mental fortitude, but it's not a burden that anyone so young should carry. T_T
  15. Okay, it's the 7th where I am. Happy Birthday 羽生结弦! お誕生日おめでとうございます! Efforts may lie, but they all build a path to victory, and are never in vain. May you conquer your demons, and by the wings your blade, fly graceful as a swan on the ice of Pyeongchang. Your strength we view self-evident, your willpower we bore witness to, your dreams we hold true and believe in, as you have risen like a phoenix time and again. So we as fans all call out, in a unified voice as one-"May you achieve your ideals, may that gold be yours, and long may our skating lord reign!"
  16. Okay, butting my head into this nationalism thingy. I'm from China, a country that also is quite nationalistic. And I think, should this be China on the receiving end, and the country decided to boycott a competition, no athlete would have the guts to go. Reasons: 1) It is viewed as ungrateful. 2) It is viewed as bowing to international pressure and siding with the enemy-in this case whomever is boycotted Part of this is also because the sports system in ex-communist countries are so state/government based. Essentially, the sports system exists at the government's leisure, not for the sport or for the athlete's sake. Athletes income, training fees etc are more or less covered by the government. In short, outside of the government system, the athlete does not exist. And in a lot of the areas where China is competitive in, such as speed skating, ping-pong, gymnastics etc, there is no real system outside of the state, it is centrally controlled. Since the public is aware of the above, going against the government would have the athlete labeled as ungrateful by state media, and at some point picked up by nationalists and viewed as such nationally. It's suicide for a lot of the athletes then because even if they win, they might not be viewed as "good citizens" at home. This also leads to point 2, which is since you went against the nation now and bite the hand that fed you, you're now part of the enemy. People tend to forget, for events such as the olympics, there is a political overtone, of showing which government is "stronger" than others. It's not just about the athletes. Otherwise, why have medal tables? Anyways, back to Russia-good to see Putin isn't so strident. Allowing athletes to compete is still okay- people will figure out the athletes are from Russia anyways, since Russia will be part of the introduction right, with "Olympic athlete from Russia"?
  17. But if we do have a charity drive, what do we organize? Should we do a concentrated push, where people take screenshots of their receipts when they donate? Or do we do a charity drive where we raffle away stuff?
  18. Hi guys, as one of the guys who has probably more ambition than time or abilities here, I think the general idea is probably something that robin already mentioned. 1) That this is a side project rather than a main project-because there is the voluntary versus forced issue that @Murieleirum mentioned. 2) I think it's also more important that the charities involved get a continuous fund to work with rather than a one time slush money- anyone with some background in project management can tell you that budgeting for a 4-5 year project is a nightmare and guess work at best. I think something similar to what @¯\_(ツ)_/¯ mentioned would be best. In so far as what we do as planet hanyu forum, I think our role is more of a platform so to speak. Just personally, I'm located in China, I cannot open facebook, twitter, instagram, blogspot or even tumblr without hopping on a VPN. But I can open this forum without using a VPN. We have a distinct advantage there, in that we are essentially a platform or a bridge that is capable of working across countries. Now, in my free time, I did some work digging into SendAid. From what they've posted on their tumblr and facebook, it seems like the latest postings was around 2016 (September or July I think). And was the Etsy shop closed too? But what their tumblr page does do is list a bunch of charities and organizations that are still involved in collecting donations for the Tohoku relief efforts (such as Japan society in the US). I also went ahead and browsed around some of the donation portals and don't remember which one, but one listed that they are still about 151K short of their target. Considering that nuclear power plants are involved, I think ultimately the decontamination efforts and rebuilding will take longer than expected, and probably more than what the Japanese government initially forecasted as the cost. So my suggestion is: Perhaps the best way is to list the various organizations that are able to help on-ground relief or manage donations? Such as Japan Society, such as the Red Cross in Japan. This way our forum is not directly involved with the money side of things. And no one would be forced to donate. We simply serve as a bridge, especially since I think right now we're possibly one of the more known Hanyu fan forums. This also ensures that in some way, people would be able to continuously donate-so the fund for the relief effort doesn't dry up as the incident fades in people's memories. Serving as a bridge, a permanent one, one that people are aware of, would be helpful.
  19. Hi everyone, I already combed through the chinese and english messages spread around China, taiwan, HK. Unfortunately I do not read japanese, so I cannot check those. If you find any other chinese language poohs you want me to check please let me know. The chinese for "please keep it positive " would be this in simplified chinese: 因为此地图主要是针对羽生的生日, 拜托大家不要提其他选手, 尤其是负面的信息。 也拜托大家尽量只写正面的祝语给羽生, 给他传达正能量!
  20. Ummm....I feel strangely obligated to do something, but my muse bunnies are not cooperating, and the last crate of paprika from PM pooh were laced with something. I think that may have put the plot bunnies into some sort of stupor, they have done nothing more than twitch tails, noses, chew on leaves and ramble chuu~all the time. But they totally glaze over anytime they are told to burrow into the palace.
  21. Yep. I have some ideas, but I'm not sure how this would work in Japan. Especially if there are limitations to what they can do from crowdsourcing platforms. Yes, this was what I think would be the most meaningful. But we're not sure if such a charity exists in Japan. Either that or maybe there is something still ongoing with the publisher for his bios. Those are probably the most neutral parties in Japan.
  22. Should we open a separate group discussion about this? Maybe in private PM or something?
  23. I think it's probably best we use the official twitter account and just tag TCC. My feeling is ANA official account might not know what to do with it since it's more commercially driven. And for JSF, do they have an active twitter account? Is it just me or are there a bunch of poohs tagged on the map with empty messages? And I swear the one on the top of the map might be an ad, unless for some reason that message displayed erroneously in Chinese (with language that sounds like an ad). T_T Edit: there's also one pooh in China that says "defeat the cheater shoma" um...I don't know who this is, but come on guys, Yuzu treats Shoma like a baby brother, there's no need to write that for a birthday message...
  24. Ah, well we've avoided that since we usually open ours to everyone. It's pretty inclusive. Same with the banner too. Right, someone explain to me the logic behind hostile fangroups where the hostility is more inwards directed....my brain hurts trying to straighten that up.
  25. I think the one-upping mentioned is more of rival kpop fandoms one-upping each other. More like, "So you BTS fans bought space on the subway? Well guess what, we are going to buy our oppas an ad in Times Square!" So to really fit that, it'd have to be a yuzu fandom vs other-skater fandom, which frankly, I think other-skater fandom will come out losing. I don't think we're going to get the letter written in blood any time soon though.
