Re: the paparazzi peeps-I wonder if they just hired a freelancer, since do you actually need proper credentials to be a paparazzi journalist? It's pretty low, but then again, when were tabloids not low?

Worst falls....hmmm.... a. The one time I tried a Yuzu style side lunge, and over judged my ability to hold an edge, falling straight down on my tailbone. b. That one time trying a camel spin, and getting too excited when I managed to kind of hold my spin, whereupon my upperbody went down and I crashed on my chest. Hurt a bit, but worst part was it took the wind out of me. Never ever ever land on a flat when you land jumps. I did once on a loop jump, got dizzy and my head was throbbing for minutes afterwards. The pressure really does transfer up your spine to your neck joint. >_<

Depends if you fall on joints or fall on muscles. I wore knee pads and crashed onto my knee when I wobbled off a back spin, still managed to bruise my knee cap. But falling on my butt ( so long as tailbone not involved) doesn't hurt that much and I'm back in form in under 3 seconds? As for speed, well if I'm going fast and I fall, I tend to also slide across the ice (and more likely to hit muscles instead of joints), so it's actually less painful than say a straight fall from no speed.

*puts on analysis glasses, clicks pen* I'm ready to take a stab at guessing layout again. =D

I don't mind warhorses. There are just a couple music pieces I don't like, regardless of warhorse status, and mainly it's centered on Carmen. =) POTO is one of the less hated warhorses in my list.

Okay, who started this team JPN men in drag tradition? It's a very brave and bold tradition.

1) When I bring in my leg? Speed up a lot. But either a) lean backwards towards my heel and fall out, or b) lean towards my inside edge (I find spinning on my right back inside edge super easy...). But nowadays, if I bring my leg in and just dangle it, I can spin on a shallow RBO edge, which I guess is what I'm suppose to do. I do wonder what the cause is, my coach says that she figures it's either because I'm scared of the speed boost, or I don't have the leg muscles to get the job done yet. 2) I'm debating that. The last time I went to buy boots, I originally had 220 size boots, but had issues with my right foot-it was too tight so when I landed jumps my toe got hammered (to the degree my right toe nail was turning purple due to pressure). So I moved up to 225 size, but that also means the heel is wider. Actually RF series heels don't seem to fit me-edea heels fit a bit better, but the toe box and arch part is too tight (supposedly I have thick toes). Hence why I was asking about Royals, because that might be my next pair-boot fitter says the seem to be split width, and the material is more "modeable" than RF series. For now, I just put in an order for a set of gel heel-sleeves, and a pair of nylon ankle and heel sleeves. Wish me luck, they might do the trick, as the ankles are fine, I just need a bit more volume to hold my heels in place.

Glad the new boots are working out (it seems?), and your feet are hopefully adapting and getting comfy. Which blades if you don't mind me asking? On another note...anyone have advice on back spins? I'm in a weird point where I can get into a backspin fine, but I can't close my left leg in. It just will bend, but I can't get my left foot to cross over my right leg like a proper spin, it just kind of dangles in front of my right leg with a 1-3 inch distance. Also, does anyone know what else to use besides gel-pads for your heels and ankles? I feel like my heels are slipping in my boots, to the degree I can feel my heels kind of lift upwards when spinning. But using ankle sleeves tend to be too thick. >_<

Wonder what programs he'll skate at 24 hr TV. Wonder if he'll wait till then to reveal stuff, either that or skate to Haru yo koi.

Hmm, my reading of the 4A isn't so much a statement or some hidden idea of how long he's practiced it. He already tried one back in the summer shows in 2015, so it's obvious it was something he considered even back then. The mentions of 4A as a goal surfaced even before now, but for now, with no further information, I don't think it's an exact timeline. I think it's one way to a) work around questions of Beijing 2022, especially when asked why he's still competing; b) clarify that he's not RTing yet, as he still has long term plans that he wants to fulfill (4A), and as such, since he's considered an "uncle" skater, address head-on that there is still a TES element he has yet to accomplish, and as such, *should* still be viewed as competitively in the fold. Along with all the hints that Brian has given, it means judges cannot write him off, since any judge worth their eyes probably knows Yuzu has the best 3A in the men's field.

I want to see Lady 4Lz back too, she was too beautiful when behaving. =( While I get the idea that Yuzu's a master of axels, I also think it's more likely that 4Lz will be back sooner, because the muscle memory is likely still there. While he needs to build up new muscle memory for princess Nessie. Also, we don't know what the status of it is outside of harness, as so far all the interviews regarding him and Nessie all involve a harness.

Okay, I bow to his waistline....
-
I would give him another season at least due to the health reason. But then again, Yuzu is known for surprising us. But I don't want to pressure him to do Beijing....
-
Actually given that he has to recover a bit further....I won't be that surprised if Media day is later in August (mid to late Aug) or even early Sept. Don't kill me if it happens, okay?

2018/2019 Season Program Announcements
Xen replied to kaeryth's topic in Knickknacks: General Skating Chat
So uh, @xeyra how many bingos do we have now? -
Media day, he usually holds media day early in August and announces his programs for the new season. It's usually a lone sprinkle of water in the otherwise very, very dry off-season. On a personal note, I think we're faring worse than other years, because this summer we got spoiled with Yuzu content. The cacti are having more issues than normal adjusting to the drought.

Grab a blanket to cover your eyes at sections, and a giant box of tissues for your eyes and nose afterwards, because the SP was still terrific (boi fought for that), and right now Zu is in a better state (though his flirtations with injury is just...ugh). All this madness, and we still have a week to go. I'd hate to see what may happen with our mental state if it gets delayed by 2 weeks, or if Zu reveals nothing and says "it'll be ready at ACI."

Well Javi's style does sell well to judges. But older Javi, no; I haven't paid much attention to younger Javi though. No, the more I watch the more I think Joubert.
-
My spirit animal on that judging panel is J1. Even my PCS would be pretty much at that level. And regarding his style...well he's young so it's not clear which side he is, but he's reminding me something of a weird mish-mash of Yuzu+nate+Brian Joubert. o_O

Interviewer: So Brian, so which of the men in TCC will come out with a 4F? BORser:
-
Wonder how Brian would feel if he has 2 boys with problematic relations with the Flip family. XD
-
He baaaarely managed to keep that flip edge flat. It was fighting and almost managed to switch to an outside edge. He's grown, feels like he's around 160-162 cm now.

Guess the New Programs! (and win nothing if you do)
Xen replied to Yatagarasu's topic in Yuzuru Hanyu
The layout works for the new rules. o_O And if he wants to play it semi-safe and have more recovery time, it's not a bad idea. -
I could be wrong, but Gogolev looks to have grown. He's not longer as tiny as before, but he doesn't quite have the muscles to buff his jumps, but technique wise, I think he's not too bad.

I need to see stephen's program, but I'm inclined to believe you since it seems TCC boys tend to do everything out of steps (even if simple)
