  1. Sounds like when he was still in Japan? I don't think he had time to really train Nessie...
  2. If that were the case, he wouldn't get injured either....
  3. They're having too much fun with this. I wonder who wrote the script-the frustration sounds quite Javi-like.
  4. TV announcer 1:"Another beautiful skate from Hanyu. And look at those poohs! That rain of pooh bears that have become a staple at each competition--wait, wait! What are those grey plush toys being tossed on the ice?" TV announcer 2: "The camera has zoomed in and it appears to be...a goat plush toy." TV Announcer 1: "A Goat plush toy?" TV announcer 2: "Seems so. You know now that he's considered a GOAT and such...." TV announcer 1:"So his fans now bring both a pooh and a goat plush to throw after his skates." TV announcer 2: "Yes, a real workout for the flower girls."
  5. how do you think he'd react to having yellow goat plushies thrown at him alongside the poohs? Would he get it?

Ehem, but where are the family heirloom shoulder and hip shimmies? o_O
  7. Uh, get some yellow felt and stuff it in a pooh style onesie too? That way it's a GOAT pooh
  8. I'm having fun imagining the contrast between Tracy and Eteri in KnC. Then imagine TAT on the sidelines, potentially standing between the two.
  9. Oh I think he can pull it off. I mean, he has Shae-Lynn for reference, and now Jason is a rinkmate. Plenty plenty of references. Never say never, else he'll take it up as a personal challenge, and then force us to eat our words. Edit: I don't think he could do proper riverdance steps as part of a stsq, but maybe as a chsq? He was doing the toe-taps for Yagudin's "winter" at PC gala practice, and I think he has fast enough feet for it. Also, his SS style is very agility based-he can do the turns fast enough to hit them to the music. There is also plenty of music to choose from, but what about a "folk traditional music" medley? What if we start with the pan-pipes, fiddles and flutes of irish folk music, and end up with the taiko drumming and shakuhachi of japan? o_O
  10. Oh dear... Somewhere in Canada, in a house in Toronto, a japanese boy sneezed. Someone, somewhere was talking about him. He took a piece of tissue from the Pooh box, and thought about it. It wasn't a normal sneeze-usually the practice induced sneezes were more quiet. It was also not a cold induced sneeze-the weather was not the type to permit that these days. So that means.... He opened his laptop and went online, and noticed that someone else in Canada had posted that they thought he would have trouble keeping up with Riverdance rhythms. Kuyashii, who him? He grumped a bit, took out a notebook and wrote a quick note down-tomorrow he and Jeff and Shae needed to talk. That canadian thought huh, without recalling that one of the more iconic riverdance programs was done by one of his choreographers.
  11. Oh wow, brave and bold indeed. Wonder if any judges will be clutching pearls over it:
  12. Han Yan is teaching in a special summer camp during 8/26-9/1 at a commercial rink in Nan Ning (capital of Guangxi provence in China). The rink is Wan Xiang, which is a shopping mall/commercial real estate company.
  13. Eh, what if Zu works his magic and you get more wishes granted this season?
  14. Yuzu doing riverdance is something I didn't know I need to see, but thanks for entering that thought into my brain now. But the exogenesis music video of his practice however, is making me think Yuzu+muse=interesting......

  16. There are no easy solutions, but I think there are ways: 1) increase transparency and do work to promote the popularity of figure skating. It doesn't need to be say, tennis level, but maybe just a tad more than now would be fine. I'm not sure if the argument that fans can't follow numbers is a valid argument-look at some of the X-games, where there are BV systems in play. I think it's an issue of broadcasters not explaining stuff/educating casual viewers. Why increasing popularity? Because its that that will have a bit of a check/counter-balance against judging. Okay, so ISU can't get judges to do stuff. But with sufficient transparency, let's let viewers put the pressure on feds for feds to explain why they judge a certain way? Yes, maybe we're all nationalistic and like our country's skaters to do well, but that's up to a certain point. I think in the end, majority of fans follow the spirit of sports and say may the best skater of that day (even if not my country) win fair and square. 2) Give tech panels a bit more teeth, and allow them to do their job. Actually call PRs and blade take offs etc, get more cameras etc. If those actually get called, I'm not sure if all the recent changes were even that necessary. But more than even increasing the weight of TES, this is an actual measure of giving more control back to the skaters and coaching teams. Without these changes, I'm not sure the TES-based program is going to go the way ISU ideally wants it to go. a. I get the idea of the TES based program, but until GOEs are clearly defined, and there is actual diffrentiation between a minimal PR/ proper take off jump and one that is not, the TES is still not really differentiated. A quad jump with 90 degree PR and a quad jump with 200 degree PR are different, and that should be differentiated in the points. Also, the steps into the solo jump- sorry, but if that rule were actually applied, we'd see even more difference on the technical points between skaters. As it should be.... 3)I'm sorry, but an artistic program in the format of the broadmoor open/peggy fleming cup? Uh....look, have we actually figured out if such programs are actually more "artistic"? If not, why is it now the artistic program? o_O At this point, they might as well drag back compulsory figures and have it done to music. I'm sure there are people who will consider that the pinnacle of artistry, and besides, it satisfies cravings for the "good ole days" when you know, skaters were so much more "artistic" with "better" skating skills because they didn't have to focus on the jumping. o_O
  17. I think it'll be more controlled in major intl competitions. Judges judge relative to others afterall.
  18. I wiped myself out on a toe loop...a toe loop. Toe slipped and I ended up on my butt with a twisted left ankle. Nothing major but doctor said I need 1 week of no exercise allowed on left foot, and then maybe a second week to heal all my ligaments. He's still saying how lucky I was my ankle didn't snap, and just have torn ligaments and a small stress fracture. I should probably do cardio this week, but have no idea what to do, because my knowledge of off-ice training is non-existent. Any suggestions?
  19. Dear Diary, Today is the 20th of August, the year 2018, also the 42nd day since our Do-S memeface overlord entered his cave in Toronto. Due to the overflow of content earlier in the off-season, prisoners in captivity (aka fans) were getting used to more information, so the sudden silence from the batcave is decidedly hard to get used to. Really though, older ones should be used to this by now-they've been through what, 4-6 off-seasons of cricket chirps. But sadly, this off-season they're like newbies-moaning and begging for news all the time. And with the chorus of newbies, it seems everyone is slightly going nuts. Note, I really shouldn't say anything since I'm one of the older fans, but even my brain is slightly going anxious and cuckoo. To be fair, the overlord hasn't gone completely silent (and it's not that unusual). There have been some cryptid sightings earlier on in the quiet days, and god bless little children, even photos where he was spotted smiling into a camera. But alas, after 2 weeks, everything's gone blank. Currently some of us residents in captivity have started more fruitful discussions, like social media presence and hypothesis of his fan count should the overlord decide to get instagram/twitter/facebook etc. But no, those are just tiny, unappetizing junk-food level morsels to chew on before we get the real feast. But that feast is taking some time- all the while we need to endure thirst while the followers of other overlords (aka skaters) get to celebrate on new program reveals, normal instagram photos, new haircuts. Envious, who us? Of course not, we're used to feeling a smidgen of envy while we survive on old videos and memories (like cacti in the desert living off of stored water resources). Especially since we all agree that for the sake of his privacy, it's best that our overlord remain off of social media. Desparate, who us? Naturally of course not. And scoff at those other fans, who like happy golden retreivers, jump joyfully at the sightings of haircuts. So easy to satisfy. We'll just content ourselves with 24H TV, even the pre-recorded stuff, while jabbing lazily into munchy snackfoods, clawing at walls, and reminding ourselves that there will be a sumptious feast at the end of this ordeal, because our overlord is a benevolent one in the end. Yes, we're definitely not nutty. Signed, I swear I'm actually a do-S, Xen Dated: year 6, 4 months and 19 days since captivity into the Hanyu solar system
  20. I can watch this all day on a loop....it's so soothing. And he does all his turns on such huge circles, dammmnnnnn..... Do your cats accept us feeding them such people? Maybe not as proper meals, but say, junk food every once in a while?
  21. I'm looking at it again...and I think his stSq is about a quarter of a beat off, a bit slower than the music to my eyes, and that's what was bugging me the entire time. I expected something quicker, with a slight variation with steps ( was expecting maybe choctaws and more long edges) after that death drop. But nope, I got more turns instead, and him keeping the same pace throughout.
  22. Get wigs. And stuff to calm your nerves. Maybe something to help you sleep? Once the season starts in full swing, the speculations about his jumps, his layouts, anger at judges, and fans at times (because there will be fans of other skaters who will dismiss his accomplishments), will result in some combination of: -Hair loss, especially if he tries certain jumps -Anger-especially at some "experts" who like to argue that Yuzu doesn't have good SS or CO, or IN etc and skates on flats, or antis who like to argue that he doesn't have proper jumps and toe taps - In case you get too hyper at 3 am after watching a competition stream Get QQ live, Fuji TV etc? There's a chinese guy on QQ live who usually broadcasts every grand prix event live. =)
  23. Hmm...I hate to say this, but I think Nam embodied the feel of his SP more. There are pauses and stops in the program that hit the staccato hits of the song, and the turns are happening where the music has some continuity. I'm not getting that in Keegan's SP...and uh, his hydroblade looks like it had balance issues when he was reaching down. >_> But lords, Canadian men. Seriously, what is the theme this year? 60's music? As for costuming...look, in China we jokingly call Patrick Chan's skating outfits some combination of long winter underwear (for keeping warm) and training shirts. Is the new theme for canadian men "the office" look?
  24. The translation....I'm now pretty sad about the state he was last summer. =(
