Yes, but I think there were posters who said it was political turf wars, that there was a reason why they were training in Qingdao. That after the nats team and the regional province team provided funding and approved of the transfer, they decided not to go. And so they had no place to go train for a while. o_O But then the coaching roster also confuses me, because both the junior boys are overseas with Raf (possibly long term?), but at least Fang Shuai's coaches (also Xu and Fu) are listed, as is his former Coach Li. Same with the ice dance coaches- as you have 3 coaches for only 1 team still in China? So I'm not sure if this roster is permanent or just a temporary one. Posters in Baidu who say its political, still think that the turf wars aren't over yet...supposedly this new training is in July, but by August there will be final conclusion. And for Yu and Zhang, later article with Zhao says they decided against pushing Yu to give her more time to recover (old injury came back in the first apr/may training camp), the team might miss this season's GP series.

For Boyang and even the national roster right now, most of baidu bar statements are that it's political turf wars, and that it appears the conservatives (no overseas training long term side) won. But no one has specified what the turf wars was fought over. The list for both juniors and seniors nats team, on the coaching staff, lists no foreigner, not even Lori Nichol. No foreigner is listed even in the assistant level. Here's where things could get political- that credit, and essentially the chinese coaches in ice dance and singles are still taking the payroll from the national team, even if their students are for all intents and purposes overseas. If so, then the coaching staff is just a listing of the payroll people, but not necessarily who will coach who, so if you imagine, a scenario where Yuzu goes to TCC, but for national team payroll and accredition purposes, Nanami Abe is still listed on the JPN national team's coaching roster. If it really is that, then I won't say the doors to overseas training are fully closed. Just let it blow over for now. Update: Apparently this is the roster for the nats team people who are going for a second round of testing and training. So in a follow up article, Zhao said that the 2 junior boys and the ice dance teams are following plans, already overseas. I wonder if Boyang is still in limbo land.

Yes. All the ice dance chinese coaches are also listed. >_< Btw, Zhang He is not listed anywhere on the team roster, and instead the 2 junior boys with Raf are now listed instead in the men's national team. Now, I guess the negative/pessimistic read is: boyang isn't going The other thing I noticed, since the 2 boys with Raf are listed and the ice dance teams in Montreal are listed: the national team is mostly composed of foreign training oriented teams. 2 of the ice dance teams listed are overseas, and the 2 junior boys are at least doing short term training with Raf. Notice who isn't going overseas and is left off the list..... Also, crediting coaches, even if they don't do the work, is a *huge* deal in China. This is actually closer to seeing who is on the national payroll than anything.
-
The list in both seniors and juniors, do not list any foreign coaching teams. No Raf, no Gadbois, no BOrser, no nothing. But it could be that all the foreign coaches will be listed elsewhere, as even Lori Nichol didn't get listed anywhere, even as assistance. o_O Rumor for Yu/Zhang is that Yu/Zhang might need to sit out the GP series, possibly this season for Yu to fully recover.

I'm thinking that the idea of Boyang not going to TCC might be because someone hired an intern who reads chinese (or asked a CHN reading fan) to look up the chaos in Baidu bars. There were, last week, 1 main boyang cheer thread, and about 3-4 threads all commenting and criticizing Boyang for not going to TCC, based on no other clear information than a) he was seen in Qing Dao, and b) he apparently returned to China when people expected him to still be in Canada. So I'm curious if TCC's insider information is really just that baidu bar, because there were a lot of people citing weibo posts, their own personal relations or whatever saying it was insider info boyang isn't going. Well, Chinese FS community and the Boyang fandom blew up already over this...I guess it's time that the english speaking fs community blows up over this? Man, and just when it started dying down in China. As for why Boyang may not go, the theories in Chinese FS baidu bars are: Also, my apologies. The skaters at Raf are Chen Yudong and Fang Shuai. Not Zhang He (he's still with Fu and Xu). Updates: I actually sat down and listedn to that TSL episode:

I would like to kindly remind people of what we always suspected: -That the coaches are in cohorts with the local raccoon population, and the raccoons ruining the rink equipment are timed to when they believe a strategic timeout is needed. - Now we know who the raccoon whisperer is among the coaching staff!
-
Hmm, I think Zhenya has gained some muscles, her jumps look much lighter than before (and the flow is much better). But that Lutz, is at best still a flat edge. It's not a clear outside for sure. But I think she's trying.
-
Well, I can't say much for her other choices, but hime-san at least when choosing Yuzu has decent taste.
-
They need to be on ice, in boots, in costume, and then we can determine that it is over the right to lift him.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if they want to name it after him, and I would imagine that he would insist that it is not named after him. Allowing such a move would seem a bit out of character for him, since he views and insists, that his accomplishments are due to the support and contributions of others. What would make more sense is if a memorial or scholarship grant/fund is named instead after him for skaters from japan, or even specifically from Miyagi region. This I think would make more sense, and he might have an easier time accepting.

Hmm...I want Yuzu to try out Hugo Boss:
-
I've watched Yuzu too long....rinkmate tells me for my toe jumps, apparently I also point my toe outwards. Yes, even on a toe loop.
-
If this were a more popular sport, like football, he should be reaching C. Ronaldo and Messi levels for endorsement contracts. Even though ANA covers all his expenses for training in canada, I imagine they don't cover other living expenses (ie his mother staying in Canada)?
-
We stan a giver. If you tally how much he gets from winning each season, pretty much each year he's donating almost all his competition earnings. And relative to his net-worth, how much he's given is a lot.

Apparently Sui/Han are back on ice! http://tieba.baidu.com/photo/p?kw=花样滑冰&flux=1&tid=5782619474&pic_id=e0d0cd11728b4710a86f9932cfcec3fdfd032378&pn=1&fp=2&see_lz=1&red_tag=w3099538149

Guys, watching old programs, I opened up Michelle Kwan's "A Day in the Life“ SP, which features an instrumental cover of a Beatles song. Anyone else think this fits Yuzu really well? It's similar to PW in feel, but I think would be more challenging with a lot of tempo changes, and a long extended area where we can fit in a hydroblade. And there are orchestral versions too! As for Jazz...ahem, Lurker Zu! Found a bunch from the same guy who made Blues for Klook. Maybe take a look:

But we have so many TV broadcasts this summer, it almost doesn't feel like the off-season. But that new V neck is the new "Great White Shirt" though. Probably. For Media day.

1) Li Zijun was part of a promotional event where people got to skate with her, and she would guide/train total strangers who never skated before. Was only about 3 hours. It was part of Yili promo events for a new ice cream brand. I don't recall her doing anything? She did a back scratch spin, did some basic gliding, don't recall any jumps. I don't know what she looked like live during her competitive days, but a couple rinkmates say it looks like she's gained some weight? As for competitive shape...well I don't know what that involves. Also, I guess she's taken up coaching, because one of the younger skaters at the recent interclub competitions was supposedly a student of hers? 2) As for CSA and incompetency, well I'd really refrain from criticising them as the sole source of problems. The inability for chinese skaters to go overseas for training has always been not just a CSA decision-there is also the governing sports body in China, and frankly, FS is just not a high priority. In a system where the state and taxpayer money funds everything, it would mean that funds were just not available before perhaps, and the idea that chinese coaches must be credited somewhere-well that might be more a government issue and not a CSA rule. I'm hiding this btw, since it's pretty long and gets waaay too into the giant fanwar in baidu. As for me, I might be one of the few who thinks it's probably arranged out, and well, CSA is letting team Boyang and TCC decide how it wants to handle the media.

Same twitter from the one I posted above, nate's method may also be more energy efficient- you don't need 70 cm to jump quads, you can do it with around 60 if you can get into rotation and rotate fast enough. So that's probably more the key for Daisuke, and mind you, he's pretty small.
-
On the topic of jumps, posting this here: Yuzu is definitely jump trajectory 1 (even is delayed rotation 4Lz is closer to 1). Most skaters aren't able to always hit that type of trajectory. Nate's btw, has more height than distance, so he forms a very "peaky" trajectory. As for why study Nate's technique, well Danibellerika already said it. Reliable, achievable, at least easier than trying to mimick Yuzu.

Yeah, if you care about Boyang, and your mental health just avoid Baidu FS bars in China right now. There's a main boyang thread that nearly got derailed, and about 2-3 threads now where people are now dissing him for being in China and how they're leaving the fandom now. =/ It's pretty nasty internal fanwar right now. On the other bright side, there are also posts where they show Sui/Han post check-up and photographed with Zhao. Supposedly she should be back on ice soon.
-
Um, I don't want the internal fanwars from Chinese baidu bars to spread here, so: 1) he might need to change visa types if he's going to canada for the long term, and those can take a while. And the scary part of Canadian visas in China-they don't give an estimated time. It can take a week, 2 weeks, 3 months....this is experience from me, who had to get a canadian visa to attend ACI 2017. And I had a work colleague whose visa took about...3 months XD 2) The ice rink might be part of CSA promotional events, so he is obligated to attend, whether he likes it or not. Quite a few CSA ex atheletes (pang/tong) have their own commercial rinks. Sponsors might also request atheletes to attend promotional events-this is how I got to see Li Zijun live last month. =D So Boyang would have to do it if it's a fed or gov't order. 3) A third hypothesis floating around, but rarely picked up on, is that maybe the handover to TCC already happened, and to the CSA, how publicity and media is handled is either all up to TCC, or something they are still discussing in depth. The conclusion may be something similar to Yuzu's media day, so until then, nothing is announced. Also, Boyang tends to go quiet when he's focused on training. So considering the lack of him personally posting stuff on weibo and instagram, take it as a positive. And frankly, the timing this season is awful. Boyang's available in May/early June-Brian is on holiday and goes to FaOI. Brian is back in July-Boyang goes to China for obligations and then to JPN ice shows. It might be the earliest they can get quality time is August. And he might not need that long- he had choreography done already, and even if he goes to ACI, he would get at least a month and half to train in TCC.

I believe it was stated somewhere that the material is different and is more durable type that is used for race cars even (think it was linked with some post with Misha Ge)? So it's no surprise that many guys are jumping on the bandwagon.

oh, so that was why you were alive. Don't faint now, please.

Well, you go into that line *points* see where it ends after the...*checks notes* 20kth person?
