  1. So much Yuzu.
  2. I think people are using hindsight a bit too much in interpreting his smile during practices. Maybe he was just happy to be back in the ice, pain or not. Not everything has to be doom and gloom.
  3. Exactly. Mostly I just want him to do what he wants, the way he wants, however he wants, in order to fulfill his goals and dreams, even if I'm wincing at his poor ankle. And his head. And stomach. And whatever body parts he has injured through the years.
  4. Absolutely perfect. I hope she finds it to her taste and slays tonight (and Friday too!).
  5. I think he's a bullheaded boy who shouldn't be skating on an injured ankle, but I'm also not a competitive sportsperson and I don't have an ambitious bone in my body, so I can't relate to the drive to do so. But I respect it anyway, whatever that leads to.
  6. I hadn't noticed (and possibly only happened then) but while browsing saved recordings of the 17th, I came across Eurosport's sort of Olympic commercial break where they have photos/clips of small moments of the Games (camaraderie, tears, happiness, the works) in a montage; I found they featured in this montage the Yuzu, Javi and Shoma hug as well as Yuzu alone, in profile, looking very emotional in the podium, from the victory ceremony. It was was a nice surprise while I was catching up on a backload of recorded stuff.
  7. Plus he was doped up all to hell in painkillers; he was likely loopy anyway.
  8. I sometimes wonder if Nathan hadn't bombed his SP if Yuzu might have pushed for the 4Lo in the FS.
  9. I'm pretty sure Yuzu knows who else is trying 4A. He keeps a list. Max Aaron, MCM, Dmitriev, I think Brendan Kerry too? (an Australian, I think). This list he delivers to his Kikuchi-san to do his magic on, like the good warlock he is. And he bides his time.
  10. I am watching him like a hawk.
  11. D'awww, the parallels. Only Yuzu had to be extra as fuck (and gathering even more attention).
  12. I was asking about video of Yuzu doing figures the other day but hadn't found it yet. Recently I realized @Raomina posted the practice videos from the streamed second day and lo and behold, at 3 minutes in, I think.
  13. Dick Button is also a bit contraditory in terms of what he appreciates in Figure Skating since he also praised Nathan's 6-quad FS to high heavens even though he has said on multiple occasions he hates the way the present state of multi-quad FS has gone.
  14. The more I think about it the more I'm in awe he even managed to repeat OGM in the strongest field the men's division has ever seen, with only a 4T and 4S, doped up on painkillers and 3 weeks of training. I'm not sure how the sport will evolve for the next quad to see if he'd even be competitive for a third OGM but if anyone could find a way, it's this kid.
  15. Didn't he say Yuzu was practicing 4Lz and 4A, but 4F not so much? At least I remember something like that. Doesn't mean he might not have tried it, but I imagine any 4F attempt from him would end up being a 4Lip. He can't do his tricks for maintaining the inside edge on a quad quite as well as with the 3F.
  16. I know Yuzu's goal is the 4A, and he says it's his only motivation, but I'd love if he could find new motivation in finding ways to push the new incoming scoring system like he did with the current one. Really, I imagine his 3A could become the first (and only?) jump to ever receive +5 GOE, depending on how they organize the bullet points for the new scale.
  17. He was first practicing the 4Lz in harness, though. I remember someone mentioning that in an interview.
  18. I can't get it to load but are they talking about Yuzuru or is Yuzuru in the podcast... talking in english...?
  19. Yuzu was so emotional through this whole thing.
  20. I have updated these spreadsheets post-Olympics. From the Men's Best Elements of the Season table: Nathan's 4Lz3T from Skate America remains the highest scored element of the season. Nathan also managed to sneak in into the pantheon of great step sequences by scoring a 2.10 GOE at GPF in his SP. Boyang's 4Lz from 4CC is the highest scored single quad jump. That one's a beauty. Yuzuru managed to get max GOE this season in pretty much every type of element, from jumps (4S/4T/3A) to spins (CSSp) to sequences (StSq4 and ChSq1). Talk about a balanced skater. Misha's choreographic sequence was universally loved by the judges, considering it reached max GOE (2.10) in 4 out of 5 competitions. From Max GOE History: Yuzuru managed to increase his count even more despite only having 3 competitions. To note, his SP 3A this season received unanimous +3 GOE across the board. I think one of my most anticipated things about Yuzu's return to competition, whenever it'll happen, is to see how his 3A will be scored in the -5/+5 era... Top 10s: Nathan now holds the highest TES of a FS but only has one FS score in the top 10 because Yuzu's Olympics FS score edged his 4CC one out. Yuzuru dominates SP like a boss. He now holds 6 out of 10 best scores in that segment, including the first four. If only LGC had cooperated better, we could have had more. In addition to Yuzuru, only Javi AND Boyang now have the honor of crossing 60 TES in the SP. Yuzuru has almost as many appearances in these Top 10s as all the others combined (38 vs 42).
  21. This thread makes me happy.
  22. I'm at work, I don't need to start crying again.
  23. Yeah it is and Twitter says it's really good but I'm not sure there's full video yet.
  24. Japanese TV is ridiculous.
