I wonder, if Yuzu is arriving on the 11th, if he'll be watching the Team event on the 12th. Men, Ladies and Dance will all skate the FS/FD then for final placements. Practices on the 12th only start around 19:05 anyway, so he could be in the arena for the event, who knows?

4Lo is a difficult jump that wasn't behaving particularly well this season (possibly due to also adding 4Lz). It's a jump that does require some pressure on his right foot and the newest one (sans 4Lz) in his repertoire. While I'm sure he got his triples and 4T/4S swiftly, 4Lo might be a bit more troublesome and require more time for consistency. So when Brian left for Korea, it was still a question mark on that consistency and this week was basically required to up that percentage and see how it fit in both success rate and stamina. So I'm not sure if it's strategy that he's not yet sure about the final layout. It all depends on how Yuzu has done this week in practice and the next week, prior to the SP. It's possible he's also limited in the number of 4Los he can do per training session, as he was post-ACI, who knows.
-
If the 4Lo recovers good consistency and he uses it in the FS, then it's 50-50 whether he goes for 5 or 4 quads 2x 3A. But if he has to ditch the 4Lo from the FS too, then he's definitely doing two 4S and two 4Ts and sacrificing the second 3A. He isn't going to compromise enough to go back to a 3-quad layout again.
-
Yeah. But 4Lo can put more of a burden on his right foot so he probably can't train it as much? Probably back to doing 1 per session or something, like after ACI, so let's see if it'll be ready and non-testy by the 17th.

Shoma Uno looks sharp in workout; Brian Orser weighs in on Yuzuru Hanyu’s training Seems like the 4S/4Lo/3F // 4S3T/4T1Lo3S/4T/3A2T/3Lz layout may be coming. Even if he replaced 4Lo by 3Lo, it still only means one 3A. Cue mourning. *target removed*

I see everyone has lost their shit at the Aera cover. It's a gorgeous cover but I can't help but wonder if the white t-shirtTM is under that coat.

Predictions are made harder with how close to the start the timing for knowing who will be doing the segments is. Just so everyone knows, P/C aren't doing the Team Event, if that changes anything.

I suspect if he doesn't use the 4Lz for the SP it's just for the TE. He'll use it again in the individual and it can even be a strategy. I really wouldn't trust anything on any layout for Nathan.

He arrives on the 11th in Korea as per NBC article some pages back.

Actually, I'm not sure it changes my predictions much after all. Edit: Nevermind, it did.

Yes, since practices aren't broadcast.

Oh wow, 100k notes. I don't think I've ever seen so many notes on a FS post before.
-
This I can for sure say he won't do because he'd need to combo the second 4Lo and that's hard for a jump we and him can't be sure to behave. I think he either does 3Lz and 4Lo as first two jump passes or he does 4S/4Lo, whichever comes first. The later is a layout that can allow him to train both 4 and 5 quads by either doing 3A or 4T with the 1Lo3S combo.
-
Not if he repeats 4S and 4T. If he only repeat one of those then he can do two 3As which is the 4 quad layout. Nvm already answered.
-
Actually, the only way he can train both a 4 or 5 quad layout at the same time and still maintain the same kind of rhythm he was used to before is if he maybe starts with 4S. 4S 4Lo 3F // 4S3T 3A1Lo3S 4T 3A2T 3Lz - 4 quads OR 4S 4Lo 3F // 4S3T 4T1Lo3S 4T 3A2T 3Lz - 5 quads And this still allows him to keep the same layout rhythm for possibly adding the 4Lz for Worlds without changing much. Remember he used to do both edge quads in H&L so it's not a stretch.
-
He can also do 4 quads with this season's layout, just replace the 4Lz for a 3Lz. Thing is that initial 3Lz might not be a good jump to really start off on.

I dare anyone going to throw a Pooh in Brian clothes and attach a message: For Brian, for all your work putting up with this dumbo kid we love.

I think people have a tendency to overplay Yuzu's YOLOing a bit. He has only done some YOLOing when he's made a mistake somewhere, and usually with a recovery 3A/4T, his best jumps; he's not Nathan who decides on what jumps to use depending on his mood. So he needs a fixed layout to runthrough.

For other sources, @yude at GS also said this: https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20180206-00000061-jij-spo http://www.sankei.com/pyeongchang2018/news/180206/pye1802060028-n1.html https://www.nikkansports.com/olympic/pyeongchang2018/figureskate/news/201802060000353.html?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=nikkansports_ogp

And yet to take that with a huge grain of salt is to take everything quoted there with a huge grain of salt and consider it unlikely. So what is it? Is Yuzu recovered and doing well or can't we be sure it's true, considering we can't trust the info that he might not do the 4Lz? As said before, Yuzuru is amazing but he's not a miracle maker. That 4Lz cannot be ready by Olys is a logical conclusion to arrive at considering his circumstances, even for his stubborn ass.

Brian said he's skating without pain. I'll take his word for it.

Shoma is now doing SP instead of FS. Less tiring, so better for him. Ignore GS trolls.
