  1. His jumps were better at ACI, especially the timing of the 4T3T, but the interpretation was better here. More passionate, as well as softer when it needed, just more, better. YMMV.
  2. Skating last like the king he is! Just kidding, I actually thought it'd be the ladies winner. Who skated last in Sochi?
  3. I have talked about before how the US media keeps pushing for more and more from Nathan. There was disappointment he didn't do 4Lz at US Nationals even though he landed 5 quads! Various media outlets kept making references to 6-7 quad layouts, never letting him rest on just perfecting 4-5. And because he and his team sort of lost the concept of choreography with jumps and instead assumed the idea of choreography/artistry vs jumps, they kind of wanted to push for more and more too in detriment of other developments. Can't blame them, though, considering how little time Nathan had to make a splash in the senior world before the Olympics and, once he did, to become a real contender against men who outscored him with lesser content. With a federation like the USA, you can't just take the time to slowly work your way up in other ways. And with so many different pulls on what he can or should do, while dealing with the pressure of all the hyping done by the USA media, it doesn't surprise me there was that initial unraveling and the subsequent 'fuck it, I'm going for broke now I'm not fighting for medals'. I just hope this has served as sort of a lesson to all of them and they resolve the conflicts within.
  4. BTW, there's a longer gala practice on Saturday morning, so plenty more of happy Zuzu to be had.
  5. Honestly, if he's still in a state where he needs painkillers to be able to jump, the last thing he needs is to keep training in that condition for Worlds; it's really best if he doesn't participate and rests for some time.
  6. Reports were he did Notte Stellata in today's practice, though.
  7. I remember I married his smile and his mental strength, the two things he has used the most these past few weeks/days. I am blessed. Edited to clean up repeated post.
  8. He don't care. He got his shiny gold, what's a step sequence 3 against that happiness!?
  9. Oh wait, you posted this here. I'd just posted it in the General Skating Chat but it belongs here as well. Also, just this season Yuzu did manage to get max GOE in each type of element (jump, sequences, spins), getting his first 1.50 spin too! Like a boss.
  10. Please don't overdo it, Sendai, or people will never want to hear those songs ever again.
  11. A more visual way to see the history of Max GOEs and exactly how amazing Yuzuru is:
  12. Translation of the interview with Sho Sakurai. @kaerb, I think you have the video in your compilation but not a translation yet, right? http://tsukihoshi14.tumblr.com/post/171124529163/dont-know-if-anyone-has-translated-this-yet-but
  13. Actually, if it weren't for his love of jumps, I might think speed skating might be a slightly less injury prone discipline he might look into for the future?
  14. Yeah, the schedule has blocks of additional practice post-competition for those staying. There will also be specific practice time for those invited to the gala for their EX programs and also practice for the Gala itself.
  15. Maybe only broadcast stuff counts. Possibly the NBC streamed practices also didn't allow it. However, now he's not in any broadcast so.... Pooh at the boards! Or maybe IOC gave up after 2000 Poohs got thrown on the ice for him.
  16. I wonder if the 4T is for that part of the gala where each skater does their thing/move. 4T high kick a la FaOI.
  17. Probably half of those Axels were singles, so it's less problematic.
  18. Has this been posted already? Even Orser believes Yuzu is an alien: Olympics: Hanyu can nail quadruple axel, says coach Orser https://english.kyodonews.net/news/2018/02/221dee8a2156-olympics-hanyu-can-nail-quadruple-axel-says-coach-orser.html Edit: Damn it, catching up is hard. @kaeryth already posted this way way back. Sorry!
  19. He's not on the ice in awful pain all the time. When it comes to these kind of injuries, not every movement is painful and maybe not every jump impact has to be either.
  20. I'm here for the effect The Swan outfit will have on the 4-year audience, to be honest. Yuzu don't give a damn about your toxic masculinity.
  21. IKR? I was so confused. NBC, you broke him, now don't diss him!
