Well, you can't fault him for not looking around... he's got to *shop around,* this is a huge part of his future, so he's got to check out places that are successful. And, Eteri has been successful. Whether it will be for him or not, well, he will find out when he goes there. It could be that a whole bunch of tiny, fearless, girls with rotational ability like tops might be just the inspiration he needs. He is used to a female presence at the boards, so Eteri might make him feel comfortable as well as introducing a new way of thinking.

Lee coached Nobu so it would not be farfetched for another J skater to go to him... I really wonder who it will be... off seasons can be colourful....

Shoma with Eteri seems to be like a fish out of water... just, his body already has issues and her training method is known to be pounding away at those jumps... Eteri has had a lot of success so i won't judge her system, I just wonder how physically he might hold up under that... if it's true, though, I"ll be and wish everyone the best of luck.

So, it's true. It seemed to me that this was sounding possible early in the spring... you could see how bitterly disappointed he was with his World's performance and, well, his programs really have been repeats the last couple of years after his very promising early senior years... and this is the smart time to make that change, and get comfortable in the new environment, not the year before the Olympics... I"m excited to hear who he switches to and I"m in the camp of *please don't let it be Eteri* She's just got so many girls and junior girls and he'd be surrounded by them, lol!! But seriously, I don't see her having as much time as he might need considering all the skaters she has... but he knows what he needs so if it does turn out to be her, then, best of luck to him. As for other contenders... wow. I just don't even know where to start... but again, whoever it is, I hope he finds the connection he needs to improve and show his true abilities. I really do enjoy watching him skate (despite the crossovers and clenched fists) so I"d love to see him rebound and get on that podium again!!

Yup, sometimes talent and automatic success don't align because of other factors beyond control. I wish her every success with her studies and future career. She seems like a very smart and realistic girl.

I'm no fan of the programs from Satoko or Rika, at this point. I'm hoping it's because it's early in the season and I"ll grow to like them. I definitely don't like Rika's music (it hurts my ears.. and I like belly dance music, I used to take belly dancing!!) although Satoko's is a bit better. I just don't find anything remarkable about either one... but ( I like to give the benefit of the doubt) perhaps it's because they're just learning them and shows are a great way to figure out what works... ...and, well, at least they're trying something new. We always complain about warhorses and we didn't get warhorses with these 2 programs, so for that we should be thankful, I suppose. And really, few skaters can knock it out of the park every year...

Ok, I've seen both FaoI numbers now... I enjoyed both very much. CM is more of the typical, soft exhibition numbers that we've seen over the years... and once again, just lovely, with some moves that are pure and beautiful.... Masquerade is the hard edged opposite to that, and I admit to being a sucker for these types of programs from him. I love the fierce Yuzu just a tad bit more than the soft and squishy Yuzu, lol! I've said it a million times, but Jeff and Yuzu just click and I'm so glad to see another program by Jeff since we've only seen 4 short programs between them after all these years, with each being absolutely perfect to me. I don't care what language a song uses. I can barely understand those that are sung in english anyway, so it matters little to me. If the music is good, the melody is memorable, then that is what matters because people understand feelings and that is what music conveys. Edit: I really like this Toshi guy. He has a good and unique voice and I enjoyed his performances.... much better than the lady last year!!

I can understand that feeling, but I think that a lot of music in the world has been influenced by/created as a result of terrible events throughout history... either on a massive scale, like wars or the Holocaust, or on a much more individual scale... for me, I just concentrate on the haunting beauty of the music and the skating. I remember reading that Steven Spielberg really enjoyed Julia's program during 2014 Olys, and even sent her a thank you letter for doing it, so if he seemed fine with it, then I think it's ok.

So, 2 Schindler's List programs so far? Jason and Satoko? Well, I can see both having good, detailed and nuanced programs to that music. We shall see.

I would love to see him at SC again... it's been a while and there is no top Canadian that can really challenge him at the moment... so good scores might not be so hard to come by.... and the schedule looks to be the best as well. (and the lure of the SC gold just has to be the number 1 draw, LOL, right? ) For the 2nd... I voted NHK because not only is the timing good, but he has not had much chance to compete in Japan the last 2 years (other than Worlds), so I can see that being chosen... but Rostelecom has been good for him lately and the timing is good for that one too... But, we'll find out in less than a month... I can't believe it is already THAT time of the year... almost!!

And I find this hilarious because when I first read your post I thought, what the heck is A Star is Born? Lol. Like I haven't heard that frickin' music for forever this past year... and yet, whish!!!! already out of my head, lol. It hasn't been played as much the last few weeks so I guess my mind was taking a break from it until the figure skating season begins....

I looked it up... it has dustin hoffman, alan rickman... under what rock was my head when this came out? Esp with such a memorable premise... Sounds perfect for a young teenager to skate to (not! )... but this camp has also had some other questionable choices for young girls...

I have never heard of that movie (but I dont see that many anyway)... so figure skating opens my ears once again... and, well, at least it isn't a warhorse!!

It is a vicious circle. We hear he has to be either off the ice for 2-3 months/or needs rehab for 2-3 months, and then we see him skating/jumping after only a short time... and then we find out he hasn't completely healed... and then he has to take more time off... the only time he really took time off from shows was after his foot injury in 2016. I was really hoping he'd skip it all this summer, to be honest. But, he is who he is so all I can do is smile/shake my head, hope he enjoys himself and that it all works out best for him in the end... and of course I"ll be watching, as much a fan as ever, eager for every little thing :)

Yes, he was there. Lots of people have trained there over the years. I think Liz Manley is the skating director there right now... I think we saw this year that Stephen left Brian to work with Lee more this season because Brian had to spend more time with Med since she was having trouble coping with the independent style of training... at least that's what I got from interviews with Brian... so now we'll have to see what happens with Stephen... could be that this is a good time to make a change. Sometimes you just need a change if you have been in the same place since you were a wee kiddo.

I read a rumour that Lee has taken a job at the Granite Club, another very old private club in Toronto... interesting. They probably want to rebuild their skating program too, so if true, then his skaters will probably go with him... I wonder about Stephen...there are rumours on TSL that he's going to Raf... very interesting. I actually think that's a good move, if true. Anyway, if all this is true then there might be some openings at TCC for some new students....

Oh, wow, about Barkell.... unexpected... I wonder where he is going... is he staying in the GTA (greater toronto area)... or going far away?

The music where the Night King is approaching Bran is called the Night King, so if that's the music you liked then that's what she's using... I loved that part and yes, I am already a fan no matter what!!

Haha... that's what gave him the *edge* tee hee. i remember reading Yuzu saying after his first competition with Patrick *years ago* that he was following behind him on the ice at practice and he just could not skate like Patrick could, something about how he used the edges and knees. He said he could do it for a short time, but couldn't do it for longer. Say what you will about Patrick, but how he touches the blades to the ice is just one of a kind... or, at least, it's not something you see anymore since the focus is different now and really you don't have many who can teach it... which is why I always hope Patrick does end up coaching young ones one day, to pass on that secret/skill... Well, Med probably learned a lot this tour if she did notice the skills of the *old timers* ... all 3 of those men are world champions and known for their feet....

I am looking forward to the next season for T/M... I haven't loved everything marina has done over the years, but she certainly worked wonders with G/G, D/W and early versions of V/M. I hope she can bring out the best in a team that has all the talent you could ever want, but lacks engaging packaging...

Gabby!!... it looks like she's been to the wars!! What a year she has had. Time to say goodbye to this horrid season, take a good rest, and press the reset button. I hope her concussion symptoms aren't too severe and that, in particular, the post concussion mental issues don't come back. I had post concussion syndrome myself, and your brain plays evil games with you as they did with her last fall... so I hope that experience will help her through this latest one. I am definitely behind her for the next season.
