Yes. Many things are being closed en masse in Ontario right now since this is the hot spot (it's mainly Toronto area) along with BC. We are a few weeks behind Europe in terms of covid numbers and we really don't want to catch up... at least, we want it to be gradual... the whole * flatten the curve* idea so the health system can cope. For us right now it's almost all returning travellers with very little community spread (other than spouses or close contacts) so there's still a chance we can level it. I"m in health care so I have to go to work, but we will see how it goes. I'd much rather stay home too.

So, with so many countries closing or restricting borders... and countries urging citizens to come home, do we think yuzu will stay put until he has to return to japan for show season ( if they dont cancel) or would he return earlier? I know his base is here and he's comfortable and secure and can train, but many people like to go home in times of crisis...just pondering....

That's so great that they did that!!! That sort of thing is what fans really want to see right now... they want to see their skaters, want to hear from them and everyone is glad that they're all still healthy. Nicely done, Tracy and tCC skaters!!!

Cancelling World's is a sad thing for everyone, especially the skaters who've worked hard to get there... however, it was a necessary thing. I read that world cases double every 5 days.... that's a nasty statistic going forward. While disappointed, I"m sure the skaters are also relieved that they don't have to expose themselves more than necessary. I think many people are more and more hesitant to travel away from home because of this, and health is the most important thing in anyone's life. From a purely Yuzu perspective, I think it's ok for this season. While I love those programs, I really think it would be best to start again next year (if we're lucky enough and he wants to continue) with new programs... and he gets even more time to solve that 4A problem. I would also not be disappointed if the spring/summer shows were cancelled. This virus needs to fade away and large gatherings don't exactly help in that regard... (and I kind of want him to stay in his bat cave away from what's going on elsewhere). So, the season end is anticlimactic, but sometimes world events are too big to ignore and you have to do what is correct.

A Recent Brian Orser interview (Junior World Championship, Tallinn)

It's an interview. Not a thought out research paper. He's going to put all sorts of random thoughts in the same paragraph. -
A Recent Brian Orser interview (Junior World Championship, Tallinn)

Hey @Fay I presume you meant to type *now Nathan Chen* instead of *not Nathan Chen* when he talks about Yuzu needing competitors. Small thing but... you know. And big thanks for the translation -
But see, this is precisely why I love it. The traffic is just regular traffic (although just a few years ago the main road was basically country, and now, my gosh, it's totally turned into suburbia!!) there's tons of parking.. I don't have to fight for said parking, there's nature behind the arena so it's relaxing... I don't have to PAY for parking... I don't have to PAY for parking... Driving around the GTA is a big pain in the butt, but Oakville is easily navigated, and buffered by the escarpment so you aren't totally surrounded and you can get out of the city fast. They have a 2 year contract... hmmm, the Oakville organizers might be smart... if they have it another 2 years, with it being so close to T.O.. and Yuzu maybe staying until then... big bucks for them again in September if he continues to participate.

that's a good picture of him. He looks relaxed and healthy.
-
I think Its scott's nickname.
-
I still hope to see Tracy interview him one day, but she's a different network now, and stopped doing interviews years ago.
-
Wow. CBC gets a yuzu interview! I remember Finnish tv got one before Helsinki World's too. Great! It looks like TCC ,his most natural environment. Those seem most relaxed for him in terms of speaking english, I think.
-
Hope he skates as well as he can and gets into the top 10....

Finishing post of PW. Raised arm, finger pointing up... If it's dark, no costume, and you only see the shape/position of the body and no face? Yeah, prob PW.
-
I agree..I'm no fan of it, I actually don't even remember his program, but the judges seem to be.
-
Nathan's choreo seq has been very impactful and gets the audience reaction more so than any other part of his program... Origin's choreoseq doesn't have the same impact, but Seimei's def does... I would say it * brings it home*.... so it is a better match up. Excited to see the program changes with the time diff.
-
I will miss Origin's costume the most.. both of his costumes for this number were wonderful, I loved the darker look on him. I will miss Otonal's step sequence the most out of the 2 programs and hope he continues to use it for encores. It is perfect... that leap.... I fear he will keep Origin for another year (if competing) but I hope he is done with it. Leave tributes for exhibitions. Since he knows these Olympic programs so well I think it's obvious the harder layouts will be attempted, 4A I dont know, but I think lutz for sure.
-
If it isn't a typo, and he truly is going back to his Olympic programs for some reason that only he knows, at this point... well, the judges have a bit of a challenge. These programs were already judged and found to be stellar, so if he skates them well it's not like they can say suddenly he doesn't interpret the music well or composition sucks... although if they did that, the excuse would be that it's a new judging system (which should mean he benefits, but he hasn't).... if he skates them well, and the marks aren't as they should be, he will definitely find out what the judges are telling him... how they are judged might help decide his future headingbtowards Olys, or not. No matter what, all will be revealed within the week!!!
-
Probably typo... maybe typo? Confession coming? why didn't I pay attention to that? Ok, this is it: He's going to HIS favourites now (being tired of listening to jealous Johnny whenever he skates Otonal), celebrate his 2nd Gold by doing them in Korea, and then this season will be the end of singles and he's off to ice dancing and archery. Whatever the boy wants. Have fun and enjoy, Yuzu! (incidentally, I bought some Yuzu shampoo today, purely because of the name on the packaging... I didn't know they had that in Canada, lol)
-
The way that countries are actually voting NOT to host the Olympics these days means that Sapporo probably really has a strong shot at getting it. There may not be much opposition to that bid... and if that means a chance to see an older Yuzu in the distant future, well, I'd love that!!
-
OH... I heard that the skater who skated to that enchanting program from last year had switched to Eteri, but couldn't remember her name and didn't see her at all this year... I wondered what had become of her. Too bad. I really liked her skating. I hope she finds joy in the next stage of her career.
-
Lol. I don't think we could tell if he was trying or not!!
-
I have to say I was thinking that this health situation will be impactful for the next while. I think things are only starting with it, so we might see all kinds of ramifications.... very concerning.
-
No. They only skated the sp today for the men.
-
I am sure Brian has no idea if Nathan will compete, it's just an assumption he's making and now some will take it as a fact.... and I didn't take too much from his comments about Yuzu. And I am sure Yuzu will have a good 4CC. He's had time to rest and refocus and I'm sure going back to Korea will bring back positive memories for him. It is a new challenge and when you have things to look forward to, well, you have things to look forward to!!

Absolutely agree. I was very surprised and actually shocked that he wrote that article about her...to be honest. Especially when it's speculation. I cannot imagine how she must feel knowing that someone has written this about her... and I cannot see that this will help her get over it, if the rumours are actually true. I would say it's actually quite damaging.
