  1. Thank you for the transcript, @kaeryth, it's a good read. It's always nice Tsuzuki-sensei talking about Yuzu, how he coached him and what he thinks of him and his skating now. And yes, you can really tell how Yuzu's way of thinking and his own vision of skating was influenced by Tsuzuki-sensei. He always had a strong vision about the development of the sport and he also teached very good technique to Yuzu who was able to challenge him all the time It's nice to know that he'd like to keep coaching as long as his health allows him to do. Aahhh what a beautiful message from Yuzu It melts my heart
  2. Interview with Alexander Majorov - "The technical score should be technical and not subjective" http://www.absoluteskating.com/index.php?cat=interviews&id=2019alexandermajorov There should be a difference in GOE when they judge the quality between a so-so jump and an excellent one and it should be judged fairly but I agree when he says that it shouldn't be subjective and that he criticizes the current judging. Most problems are not the rules but how the judges use them. Removing +5 GOE or make a higher scale wouldn't solve the main problem imo.

  4. A program from 2013 about Toshinobu Yoshida was uploaded by @tsukihoshi14 with English subtitles today. Toshinobu Yoshida is Yuzu's blade master, he's been sharpening Yuzu's blade for over a decade now. ETA: http://tsukihoshi14.tumblr.com/post/182176141183/the-man-behind-yuzurus-skates-toshinobu

  8. Probably you're right. It was established and supported by major German and Swiss companies and most award ceremonies were held in Europe (most of them in Monaco). The statuette is also made in Europe by the luxurious company Cartier. I've heard about it maybe because I'm following sports. But last year when Federer won two awards it was big news here, he was everywhere in newspapers and TV.
  9. He landed a quad salchow at Japan Open but I don't know how much he practiced it before haha I'm sure that he's practicing quads now...I think it's possible that we'll see only one quad in the free skate and that's going to a be a salchow. I am not sure about a 4T. But we'll see it soon. Maybe there's not enough time to make a new costume now.
  10. John Coughlin, chair of the ISU Athletes Commission and member of Singles and Pairs Technical Committee has died. RIP https://isu.org/isu-news/news/145-news/12403-isu-statement-unexpected-passing-of-john-coughlin?templateParam=15

  13. Jackie interviewed Javi in the new IceTalk podcast and it seems Javi's FS will be Man of La Mancha and he said about the SP "it's from 3 years ago I think" which may mean either Malaguena or Black Betty He said he jumped the last quad in July (the interview was made 2 weeks ago). https://icetalk.libsyn.com/2019-europeans-preview-with-javier-fernandez-and-michal-brezina
  14. It happened in the past few years that the winner couldn't go...Valentino Rossi or Kim Clijsters when they won the Comeback award, Lindsey Vonn when she won the Sportswoman award, the Spanish football team etc...they took a video of them with the award which was shown during the ceremony. Like @rockstaryuzu says if it has an impact on training then Yuzu most likely won't go. But we'll see how he decides...
