He already has. :smiley-sad021: We will never forget.

Culture ministry to publish book about Denis Ten

Quote

The Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan is preparing additional 2,000 copies of ‘Nash Denis' (‘Our Denis'), a book about the great Kazakh figure skater, Kazinform correspondent reports.

"We collected all essential materials about Denis and released this book overnight. We distributed this book in Barys Arena during the final farewell ceremony for the figure skater. We also intend to release 2,000 copies of the book containing additional information," said Aidar Kyrykbai, the Spokesman for the Ministry.

According to him, the book about the tragically killed Kazakh athlete will be handed out in various places.

He also mentioned that the new 10 pages of the book will include well-known compatriots' speeches made during the final farewell ceremony for Denis Ten.

"It is planned that tomorrow we will make up and finalize everything. For sure, the book is available for reading in libraries. Besides, it will soon be possible to read the digital version of the book on the official website of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Republic of Kazakhstan," the spokesman said.

Detained on suspicion of killing Denis Ten confessed

Quote

Suspects Kiyasov and Kudaibergenov made a full confession in committing the given crime and handed over material evidences. In particular, suspect Kudaibergenov showed the place where the murder weapon, a knife, was buried. It was withdrawn afterwards and included to the criminal case file, the department said in a release.

The department has commissioned a set of forensic inquiries, including molecular-genetic, forensic tests, medical and criminalistic examination of the crime instrument, biomedical expertise, etc.

During the physical confrontation suspect Kiyasov confessed to stabbing Denis Ten, the release reads.

Suspects confess to killing Olympic figure skater Denis Ten

Quote

The police said in a statement Kudaibergenov was charged with theft in August 2013, when he attacked a man and stole his mobile phone. The court then sentenced him to one year.

Kudaibergenov was supposed to face trial in July in Astana, after he was caught July 11 attempting to steal side mirrors in the capital, reported time.kz.

Astana resident Sapar Shamsiyev, whose side mirrors Kudaibergenov was trying to steal, said he was sure the defendant is in jail.

“The police said the trial will be in seven or ten days and they will invite me. The police also told me the man (Kudaibergenov) was detained, that he was previously sentenced, and that he confessed,” said Shamshiyev, as reported time.kz.

The police, however, released Kudaibergenov July 13 under certain conditions.

“Until today, I was sure he is in jail waiting for trial. But today I learnt from the criminal police officers, who came to me to identify the person, that he was in Almaty and is a suspect into Ten’s murder,” he said.

“How can this happen if he was previously sentenced and secondly, he confessed? The police did not say anything,” he added. “If the police had not released him, he would have still been in Astana and would never have come to Almaty and consequently nothing would have happened,” he said.

“Today, the effectiveness of the work of internal affairs bodies is on the agenda. Why 70 percent of people from regions can come freely to Almaty, why illegal sale of stolen items is on the rise, why the staff of the Almaty internal affairs department has low efficiency, why there is such a high employee turnover [in the department]. There are many questions, tension is high. We want to get answers, the public is outraged,” said chair of the Almaty City Public Council Rakhman Alshanov during a July 23 council meeting.

“The incident would not have received such attention, had it not been Denis. As for those detained, one of them should have been in Astana and should have faced trial, but not be in Almaty. It happened this way, because this is how the law works. My suggestion is to review the law, humanisation does not work here, we are not Europe. Criminals must not be released,” said Council Member Alibek Shapenov.

Almaty has seen a rise in recent years of car thefts due to their high costs and their consequent illegal sale. Side mirrors are among most common car parts targeted by thieves.

Head of Kazakhstan Independent Car Union Eduard Yedokov said thefts and the purchase of car parts is big business.

“The cost is minimal. And it is a profitable business for someone. This does not make news for our police. There are many questions to the interior ministry and police, as a tragedy occurred during the day time in the city centre,” said Yedokov, as reported by Tengrinews.

I read all of that, and it just makes me ill. I can't imagine what the Kazakhs must be thinking and feeling right now. So upsetting that a lifelong criminal was free when he shouldn't have been, and ended up doing this.

Good that you could go, Danibellerika! I hope many fans sign the books, and that Denis' family sees how many people from all over the world respect and appreciate him. The local embassy's a bit out of hand for me so I thought to check in advance if there even is a book, but they haven't responded to my email yet. :[

I'm sharing this heartbreaking message from a Kazakh fan..... :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid: :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid: :tumblr_inline_ncmif7esGm1rpglid:

That is so sad. I'd been wondering why so many Kazakhs were expressing that sentiment 'Forgive us, we couldn't save you' ...now I know the answer. :( One can only hope that this will be the catalyst for serious change. Too late for Denis Ten, but maybe not for Kazakhstan.
