Question, what do you guys think about Alberto Inglesia music. I stumbled into the OST for The Kite Runner, and somehow wonder if this is music that is suitable for Figure skating, and if its something that Yuzu would consider skating to. If not, are there other skaters who would be suitable for the music?

I'm wondering how to splice together the following pieces, either for a SP, or an LP:

These two bits have some singing, but not very distracting, and certainly not the level of the lady from Loco:

https://youtu.be/gB6_M7gVUmY

Then there's this long piece, that I think some parts would work for the mid section of a long, and definitely for a step sequence:

https://youtu.be/TIkap7dEYJk

And this one has sections that are good for step sequences:

https://youtu.be/NJXneqe3B7U

Granted, I don't know how Yuzu would feel about Islamic music (which I like).

I wonder what I did to deserve a mention. It’s a mistake, right? Here’s my uneducated opinion, anyway.

Yes yes yes! I like this sort of music, too. Fantastic for step sequences and JButt would be all over it. I can see Yuzu really losing himself in the quieter sections, too. The only one I didn’t much like is the third one because it sounds a bit to “Hollywood” for me.

Shae would be wonderful for this, too. She has such a sensitivity for other cultures. I couldn’t believe SEIMEI wasn’t choreographed by a Japanese skater at first and her Riverdance is one of the only versions I’ve seen that really captures the spirit of Irish dancing. I’d really be interested to see Shae and JButt collaborate on something like this, too, though I don’t know if they’d be able to.

I’d love to see Yuzu take on Riverdance one day - he has the soul and the power for it - but any rhythmic music like this would be a delight.

As for splicing, I wonder if there are other albums or soundtracks that you could use to add a few more highlights? I didn’t find the singing distracting but it doesn’t have the drama to make it stand out, either. I think being a soundtrack it sort of has that problem of being an accompaniment to dynamic imagery rather than standing out on its own.

Anyway, now I have a new dream to add to the pile of music choices. (And how sparkly and fiery and gem-like would his costume be for this? Ahhh!) I’ll give it another, less rushed listen later.

I'm not sure why but you and Murieleirum are the two my brain drags up when it comes to music. Was it because we were both chatting about Tango for him at some point? (IMO-assassin's tango could work for him)

Going through more of Alberto Ingelsia's works right now, there's a really nice piece from The Constant Gardner that I like and a small tango like piece from Hable Con Ella that may work. I'm also trying to find more Japanese composers, though I have a really soft spot for Joe Hisaishi OST for Depatures (Okuribito). But yeah, it does seem now that maybe The Kite Runner OST may work better as SP. The song Suplication from that OST could work, but I think Yuzu said he doesn't like singing in his programs that much.

*goes and learns how to splice music now*

Aaaah I love the second half of the first you shared! I wonder, would he have the interest/courage to dive himself inside these very very new and different pieces of music? Chinese culture has some Islamic shades to it (I'm sure you know better than me), but Japanese culture? I guess it would be new and intriguing. So far, he's only taken pieces of music that are somewhat 'International'. Or at least I perceive them as such. I mean, Chopin's music is strongly influenced by Polish history and tradition, but it has become International for its popularity. Prince and PW are modern pieces which suit his charisma and character perfectly. I wonder how he would deal with such different, characteristic music.

We would see a brand new Yuzuru, he would have to transform himself to fit certain scales and harmony.

Mmmh... I have to confess I would be highly intrigued by his Interpretation - and also his choice of costume. I think it would be great for him to have a specific character to embody, a la Seimei. I guess, with strong cultural music, it's always best to embody someone specific - the only exception being Hope and Legacy, which is really Japanese in its musical characteristics, but the Interpretation is natural as the wind, the sea, the mountains.

The third piece you shared is quite "naive" in certain passages (I love it very much), I wish I could see him skate to it but, mmh... I wonder if he can still do such 'light' pieces! Meaning, whether he goes down the classical path, or the modern path, I see him always 'deep' more than 'light', but maybe I'm too influenced by Chopin right now lol. I'd love to see something new from him. See him have fun while skating.

In any case, I definitely want to see him do more experimental pieces of music - no warhorses, no musicals - something to show his newfound passion, his newfound identity as an 'olympic champion', which he's never really felt up till now. I think he can really start playing around and showoff as much as he wants.

I expect Yuzu to either stick to his mission of introducing new music to FS and going for something totally different (most likely Japanese), or he may start checking things of his list of music others skated to that he liked (could be war horses or something his favorite skaters did before)

I personally would love it if he continued skating to Japanese music for the free and tried fun or edgy programs for the short

Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and say it... Yuzuru has to skate to Naples melodic songs. They are sweet, they are soft and lyrical, I think he would feel it in the skates, in his movements, in his jumps. And the lyrics... please don't let me start with the lyrics. They are the sweetest words I've probably ever read.

Title: "Night of sentiment", the translated riddle:

"Clear is the moon,

sweet is the wind,

calm is the sea

Oje, Carulì...

This night of sentiment
is not made for us to sleep..."

This is by far my favourite... I cry every time I listen to it ops. The translated riddle:
"I'd want to kiss you,
I'd want to kiss you,
But my heart cannot bare it
To wake you up,
to wake you up,
I'd want to sleep too
I'd want to sleep too
Next to your breath
If only for an hour,
If only for an hour."
